  1. Anything can happen in this marketplace, but as a magazine collector, it's always been one of my all-time faves.
  2. Spec-wise see comments above, otherwise . . . cherish it.
  3. No, it's Bronze, but frankly I prefer the cover on Avengers #346 myself.
  4. Do a search for Noble on the boards, and you'll see what your fellow employees at other stores said. But thanks, all input is welcome. I'm sure policies varied from store-to-store (and even to the poor saps who had the job of ripping the covers off (as in wtf am I doing this for?????)
  5. I think all they wanted was the bar-code, so the pricing and inventory was correct. We have heard several anecdotes about B&N employees dumpster diving.
  6. If they exist in both direct and UPC versions, doesn't that indicate that the UPC versions were distributed to newsstands? Otherwise, why make two versions? Because Barnes and Noble asked for it?
  7. You might not know that I have a background in the financial markets right? You shouldn't plot the path of unrealized gains or losses until it's all said and done. My point exactly (four posts earlier . . . )
  8. Clearly, the bat's too small . . .
  9. As sure as any marker for the end of the BA . . . First time I noticed it was on the Miller DD's. We could pin that down exactly.
  10. It IS a great post by RMA. But he's too young to have any worthwhile anecdotes . . . I'm with you RC. (and RMA, except when he's "confrontational.")
  11. A completely legitimate third print regardless, just not in your earlier timeframe.
  12. I disagree. Characterizing it as "retailer-exclusive" completely muddies the water. Show me one mention of the retailer, the location, the shop or the convention in the book.
  13. That wasn't true for every newsstand. It depended on what the regional distributor did. It's why you don't see paint strips on every comic prior to the Direct market: not all of them went by the color code system, and some of them did, indeed, still go by cover dates. You'll find far more books without color coding from the 50s/60s/70s than you will with. Yeah, as in NONE. RCheli is referring to the printed color stripe, not random local distributor ink.
  14. Man, talk about "stream of consciousness" . . . or is that "stream of Confucius"? Or "stream of kungfuciousness"?
  15. Uh, she's not REAL . . . She's just a comic book character.
  16. Well, everyone knows that RMA's anecdotes are less anecdotal than everyone else's . . .
  17. Anyone have thoughts about modern books that weren't printed yesterday?
