  1. So far what every one has said makes all this even more interesting than I anticipated!! Thank you very much to all of you.
  2. Hi, I tried to use search prior posts to find answers to my questions, but had very little success … I am curious as to which Month+Year is considered the cut-off date between Pre-Code and Post-Code. Another wrinkle added to this is the difference between the Cover Date and the Month of Arrival in a store (I think most comics arrived in stores maybe two months before the actual cover date?). So let’s stick first with just the Cover Date. 1. The Comics Code Authority was established in September 1954, I believe. How long did it take them to create the Code (was the Code itself made/finalized in Sep 1954, or a month or two later)? 2. And how soon after that did the Code start being applied to comics? 3. Was the Code very initially applied to comics that don’t actually bear the CCA stamp on the cover?? That is, are there comics in the first few months of the Code being applied that don’t bear the CCA stamp? Or is it always the case that if the Code was applied, the CCA Stamp must be present on the cover? 4. Thus, what is the Cover Date of the very first Post-Code comic books? 5. Also, what is the probable Store Arrival Date of the first Post-Code comic books? 6. And are any of the above answers different for different publishers?? Thank you in advance for shedding any light on this for me. Sincerely, MusterMark
  3. Me neither. I can't even look at Liefeld's "art". If I try, it makes me nauseous (not kidding).
  4. Wow, great cover. (thumbs u Never saw it before.
  5. Great communication, excellent packing, fast shipping. Love what I bought. And the nicest surprise - included inside the package were two free comics!!! Thanks for everything!
  6. Sure is. I think I was told once that 8.0 is the highest grade on the census for this one.
  7. Can't say I understand the idea of having tattoos too well ...
  8. Thank you! And Thank you for the suggestion. I just posted it in that thread in Gold. I really like your Comedy 6 that I saw there. (thumbs u
  9. This is technically GA. Lemme know what you guys think: should I be posting this somewhere else? A Timely.
  10. I don't trust those numbers at all. If you go from year to year, you see the numbers for many of the titles vary so wildly from year to year, that it is hard to take the figures seriously. Just my
  11. Philistine! Fritzi Ritz, and later Nancy, were outstanding strips in the '30s and early '40s. Pick up one of the very early compilations such as Single Series 5 or Comics on Parade 32 and check it out. Well, I had to assume I was missing SOMETHING, it must've had some good entertainment content at one time or another, or it wouldn't have gotten a syndicate deal. By the time I was reading Nancy in the newspapers in the 60's and early 70's it was plain ol' whitebread boring. But then so was Blondie, and Hi and Lois, and Lolly, etc etc. Heh, the first time I read a compilation of vintage strips of The Phantom I was knocked right out of my socks. Ditto Alley Oop, Terry and the Pirates, Buz Sawyer, etc etc. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love Nancy and Sluggo, and Blondie. Etc. I even like The Ermine art - it is nostalgic of a bygone era and cool. I see much to appreciate.
  12. omg, another amazing post. Who ARE you people?! (jpepx78 and sfcityduck) I cannot thank you enough for writing so poignantly and with such tremendous research, hard work and understanding behind your posts and work. Truly inspiring. BTW, one of my former colleagues at work (she is now retired) also was at Manzanar as a child. But let me tell you - even if I did not have that personal connection to your topic, I would still be loving what you have shared with all of us. Thank you ever so much.
  13. An absolutely, unbelievably, incredible post in every way ... I have no words ... If I am ever lucky enough to own an Okajima, I will feel honored. And I will remember. Thank you so very much.
  14. Thanks! Unfortunately, I put it up on Comiclink (this month's auction). Both the Space War 1 and the Planet 52 are on there. Sorry they are leaving me .... But good for some one else.
