Neil Adams had a booth beside his son at the Ottawa comicon a few summers ago...he was by himself most of the day, most folks I spoke with said they did not go up and approach him as they had heard he was nasty and had a reputation of being abrasive. I went up to say hi and chatted for quite a while with him and his son and they did a little, not signed, doodle for me.
I passed by a few times at a Montreal convention last Summer, and he was all smiles, and seemed very approachable. I didn't have anything to say to him, though...

No go at the flea market today... 6 long boxes of dollar books, and what was inside... was dollar books! But wait, there were also two $3 boxes... still dollar books!
-
Yup, good buy for sure, congrats. Storeowner sells at a profit, but leaves room in the price to make a grown man dance like a little girl? Good for both of you!
No thought of keeping them? The replacement costs are going to be awful!

If he didn't pay 90% of their FMV I'm sure the sharks here in CG will be out for blood saying he ripped off a little old lady and karma's going to swallow him whole.
It all depends...if he's on the "accepted" list or not. There have been lots of "great deal" posts and people making very nice profits but there hasn't been one peep from anyone about "ripping people off" since everyone piled on me for just *saying* what I'd do.
Peace,
Chip
Stop. Don't make a scene again, seriously.

I had a garage sale on Saturday, sold over 1000 comics at 50 cents a pop in under 90 minutes. And I've gotten a lot of inquiries about other stuff I have, and from people that missed it. It was a lot of fun, great way to clean out unwanted books.
That's good info. Was it mostly mainstream stuff that moved, or did anything surprise you?

Another fine addition to my small poster collection. Picked it up from Tony Isabella himself, $10! Not sure of the artist...anyone?
It's likely Jose Luis Garcia Lopez. He did so much of the DC non-comic art from the 70s through the 90s.
That'd be my guess as well, the man was very prolific, although I've seen much better out of him.

Because when I see someone TAKE from this community in a time of need and not really intend to GIVE back it makes me want to .
THAT is why I do it.
The intention to give back is likely there, but the means to do so are not. Giving back after being in a tough spot can take time, that's understandable. I think the issue is someone leaning on the idea that they're in a tough spot, and feeling entitled to keep taking. We had a similar discussion go poof last night... best to put it all behind us, and keep moving forward.

…now I get it. I was confused when everyone kept suggesting that I combine the offers…
I AM pulling from Amazon. I do not actually own any of those items. But before everyone gets up in arms about that, again keep in mind that that buying those items still hurts. I do not have $50 to just spend willy-nilly, but I wanted to. Just because I did not own them does not mean they are any less of an offer.
That's why I could not combine them. I really did not have more than $50 to spend.
I would've quit while i was ahead...
Look, it would be fun to participate, but there are some serious offers being tossed around in this thread. I've got a low grade Atlas Black Knight 3 I've been thinking about digging out, but since what I have on hand is only Rak-worthy, I'm not jumping in just yet. It's still fun to watch the show, and I'm enjoying this thread immensely.

Hey, what's with this thread? I have the same lost feeling that I get when the cable goes out!

If I found an Amazing Fantasy #15 at a yard sale for $5, I'd buy it and not look back.
Some of us are waiting for their ship to come in.
Peace,
Chip
Noted, if the shoe's ever on the other foot.

...I love me some Bats and especially the Joker
One day, someone's going to say "Joker's okay, but Riddler issues are a better read," and I'll get to say but today's not that day!

I tell everyone the hole they bury me in is going to have to be extra deep... I'm bringing it all with me!
-
What a night! I think I should start taking picture of my stuff!

My main problem is I am trying to come up with what I want to give away before I try and claim an offer. And I have no clue what I want to offer.
...Maybe my ASM 121+122!
My trades and hardcovers are here with me, my books are stored with my folks out of town. My problem is that I'm looking at my Absolute Crisis hardcover that I'm bound to lose to this thread, but I don't have much else to offer if that goes unclaimed. Hulk DVD boxed set? Old Marvel Masterworks?

Great pickup, God Loves Man Kills is a tough book, and Spider-Man vs. Wolverine is probably one of the best Spidey stories written, courtesy of Chuck Dixon (written as Jim Owlsley).
-
Is that Doom the full-size or the mini?
-
Problem is if someone offered a stack of mid grade books the protectors of the thread will chastise the offer until it is changed.
If it's 70's Star Wars, no. If it's Youngblood and X-Man, yes. I leave you to ponder the difference...
Correction Star Wars reprints
That wasn't cool, but Chip's pile of 70's Star Wars was perfectly acceptable.

Youngblood is BA
SA X men I dont see a problem
X-MAN, not X-Men. Better that you not know what we're talking about.
I think we all know what has value, and what doesn't.

I know my offer was claimed quickly, but I'd like to know what others thought of it anyway.
Peace,
Chip
I don't do Star Wars, so I can't speak to the dollar value, but it seemed fine to me. Not everyone is going to like everything that's offered here. For me, a modern 9.8 signature series book is about as appealing as two day old bread, but a stack of mid-grade books is right up my alley.

Lucky buggers...
I answered an ad about 300 70's comics, mostly Marvels. Got to the house, overwhelming smell of cat pee. Books were previously in a house fire, which scorched what bags were there. Some spines look like they'd been used as a scratching post.
Best book was an Iron Fist 14 in a multi-pack, the rest was Hulks, Howards, Nova, Ms. Marvel, and a pile of kiddie stuff. Given the assault on the senses, I decided not to make an offer. I told them to take the books outside, and have a yard sale.
-
I just bought a low grade G.A. book that was well inspected and properly described. I tore open the ample packaging with Christmas-like exuberance, and there were no surprises, I got exactly what I was promised. I'm very happy with the buy, and Eric is now on my repeat list!

$2??? I live in the wrong country...
Maybe he found somone who wanted to get rid of lots of comics and didn't care
about price.
I has a garage sale this past weekend and sold quite a few comics at low low prices.
"Low, low prices?" Sounds like a sketchy Kijiji ad

Are we talking Playboys, or Weasels Tore My Flesh-type stuff? I expect the Nazi, animal attack stuff with a few pinups would be more interesting than plain old nudie mags.
