  1. I think if you look at comic books printed within the last 10 years, and only include the list of ones worth "$1000" and up....it would be a short list, and you could have a healthy debate about whether this belongs on it.
  2. one abhorrent sale of 1k occurred out of no where. Then people started selling them for more, and asking for more on them. But I dont think there have been very many sales above 1k? how many have there been? asking price, isnt sale, only completed sales count.
  3. You made BleedingCool twice today http://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/10/22/speculator-corner-bedlam-1/
  4. , every penny counts when its x10 comics at one time were suppose to be read.. I agree, but if you are getting the regular 1st as well, might as well wait and read that, and keep the variant as a collectible.
  5. turning down $1000 dollars on that book is crazy imo, regardless of whatever else they are throwing in. Unless you are a completionist ASM guy. Though I suppose if you bought the book after market, maybe your margin isnt that great....still. Nothing has happened to show the book is worth that or can sustain it. If you slabbed it yourself, you are making like $1000 bucks profit on one modern book
  6. wonder if its less than the offers he turned down? still insanely too much he is asking....
  7. There is only one possible rumor, so I think everyone should get it. Author selling the TV/movie rights....what else is there for modern comics? If Dre were to post "norton and seeley told me(or a friend of a friend told me they said) they were in talks to sell the rights to XYZ company", he could be sued....(could affect bargaining positions, final result, etc) I dont think saying, "i heard something that would benefit the comics value", with out naming a source, or what "it" could be is a sign of trying to show off. He is saying what he "can", and most people get what "it" is/would be. That was also posted in the revival thread during a huge drama fest and debate on the books value, was it not? It's not like he just interrupted the thread by saying "i know something you dont know, mwhahahahahaha....."
  8. YAY! You know how many people don't get that reference. Dazed and Confused. One best movies from the early nineties. so many epic quotes from that movie, its not even funny.
  9. Ever notice how hot book threads, are always the ones that end up being drama magnets? I wonder if you can correlate drama in a thread, to price speculation.... In other derivative news, the Bedlam Drama Index (BDI) is starting to rise as launch day approaches...
  10. If a semi-transparent gorilla and flying lawn mower can't make you stop, say "what the spoon", and at least smile....i dont know what can
  11. He could rotate through the list and distribute at no premium, as a bonus to the customers that fund this venture in the first place. Just a thought. People are paying for a guaranteed 9.8 and getting it.... If you could link me to a 9.8 subscription service that gives away free 9.9s and 10s when they happen, I'd love to see it....
  12. I'm sorry...who are you, and why are you talking? No one was talking to you. I am sorry, who are you again, and why are you derailing the Bedlam thread to cry about how jealous of Dre you are?? I am not fawning over anyone friend, just calling it as I see it. I'd be happy to buy from you also, in spite of your unfounded arrogant and dismissive posts. that's how capitalism works. But first your price and service/product need to be worth my time.
  13. Right then, so if its me being shot at I am weapons free to return fire then? Not one to argue, but have to say you are kind of insulting me with your post. a.) The fact that you say hero worship, shows the true glitch you have. You are mad that Dre is respected and looked up to? If you need e-love on a forum to feel good about yourself, that's pretty lame. b.) I am one of said customers, and I am FULLY aware that he is in it to make money. I am also fully aware of the approximate margins of profit he makes from what is essentially arbitrage of CGC services. Let me tell you a few things. I have professional degrees, I make a lot of money per hour, and I am a smart guy. I am more than capable of telling the difference between a 9.6 and a 9.8. I have been collecting comics a long time, and am more than capable of doing what Dre does for me, for myself. The reason I dont, is the economy of scale. For Dre to do well, he needs to move a lot of books. Otherwise the profit vs time spent just isnt worth it. For me to to take the time (count it at my wage), and do all the things required to sub a book or two a month, plus paying the brutal 2-way shipping fees on top of that, and have the risk of a miss from time to time if only one copy of each is sent, would be crazy. If I want to have a 9.8 of every book of a series, and can buy them at less than the cost of 1 hour of my wage, and have it done by a guy who is doing it PROFESSIONALLY (ie to make money, as he should be). Why on earth WOULDNT I want to do that. Given the amount of time and effort required, ESPECIALLY for the CONs, Dre deserves respect and praise for the service he provides, and the proven results he gets. If you are subbing books to flip for a profit, and cant match his results either in number of sales, or happy customers, clearly "you arent doing it right". Many people have tried to do 9.8 subscription services over the years since CGC came out, and most end up folding. The fact that he does it, and succeeds, shows he has a good business model (augmented by the con stuff), and that he is "doing it right". mah whut? First, I doubt he has 50 subscribers on one book, and kudos to him if he does. but I have seen him talk about a day job, so i dont think he's there yet.... But explain to me again, why when someone subscribes to a 9.8 service, they would have a claim to a 9.9 if it comes in that way. Also, explain how if he is hitting 9.9s and 10.0s when subbing for 9.8s, that its bad.... A better insult would be to claim he was hitting all sorts of 9.4s and 9.6s and not showing them to people. Also, I believe he offers most of the 9.9s etc to subscribers if interested, before Ebaying them. Where in any of this is there something he is doing, other than giving everyone what they want, and making happy customers??? Lastly, I have found it universally true in life. When you think you are smart, and a group of other people arent, and that you arent a part of them. Generally speaking, you are part of the group, and dont even realize it. Instead of presuming that all his customers are fools and dont realize how the comics market works, instead have respect for them. Those same people could be your customers too, if you provided the same service at the same price, with the same track record of proven results....
  14. Dre's got a lot of happy customers and fans(myself included), this thread is going to light up like a christmas tree i think. re: B - I havent been to a comic forum yet, where people dont enjoy seeing pictures of comics As long as "it" is books, then everybody should keep whipping it out. @jjeanius - i dont know what beef you guys have, but on a debate of comicbook condition, showing copies in a picture kind of seems like a legit reply and not a bragging thing? @Dre specifically , I have been trying to give you money for almost two months . I realize your sales threads keep you busy, but the thing with subscriptions is, books keep coming out and the longer it takes to get on the list, the more I have to chase down on Ebay. Obviously in the case of Bedlam, its not out yet (but I'm fiending on ToTs still here) and doesnt matter yet. On that note, when will variant offers be available to subscribers? Did I get missed, or is it pending still? not trying to derail, I'll PM you as well, just tough to get a hold of you, and we are talking NYCC Bedlams here anyway.
  15. havent seen a bedlam in person, so I dont dispute it, just for those that didnt know what it was, I was trying to give a reference to a book they likely have.
  16. There has been tiny whispers of exactly that one whisper
  17. if you want to see what bindery tears look like, just check out your Saga #1s, virtually every one has it, and doesnt seem to affect grade. I also have a fatale 9.8 which has the same thing, and its a 9.8 Printing defects, especially when it affects the majority of books, doesnt seem to disallow 9.8 (though it seems to guarantee no higher).
  18. i'd assume its a 9.0 and no better, then decide if its worth the price. If it is, be happy if it ends up better. Most people's grading tends to be parabolic, not linear. 9.4 is still a very clean copy, and if he is safe grading it as VF, i doubt its anything close to a 9.4. ultimately, I would just say, "here's my email, send me a high res pic or scan of the cover, if its decent i'll be happy to pay your price". You gotta think, if its such an easy sell for $90, why is he offering it on second chance, and not listing it straight up and letting people bid over it.
  19. TWD 100 print run was what, 350,000? not every group of 200 would produce a variant, so probably like a 1000 print run book? bounded by about 1750? It's rare, compared to the other variants on the issue, but not exceedingly rare as far as variants go. math is off the top of my head, WD guys can feel free to correct and belittle me as needed.
  20. my question was on whether "1000" of any modern variant can be considered rare, but that is a humorous turn of language
