  1. Yup, I'm with ya! Dealers won't bring this stuff out sometimes if they think there's no demand for it. Hell, just in 2003 I scored over 40 issues of Marvel bronze horror at $1 each at a con; and the dealer said "I almost didn't even bring them because I didn't think they would sell!" That's how it goes. Also, I remember the days.... not too long ago in fact... when dealers and collectors both underestimated the potential collectability (sp?) of 90% of the BRONZE AGE output. NOW look at the prices!!!! I KNOW that one day people (maybe 10 years from now, maybe more or less!) will be throwing wads of green at that "elusive" Bruce Jones TWISTED TALES by Pacific; or DEATH RATTLE or TALES OF TERROR. It's only a matter of time, folks..........
  2. Yeah, what's with the feeding frenzy of late??!! Didn't the new Overstreet come out a couple weeks ago? Has anyone read it yet? There was quite a buzz that Overstreet was going to REALLY hype "Bronze Horror" values/demand this edition as far back as January, so were the gossips right or what? Anyone?
  3. I have many great memories from the Cons down in the Carolinas. I said late '80's, but it was also early and mid-'80's as well that "heroes" ruled the roost down there. My comic buddies on the cul de sac even convinced my step father (probably about '85 or '86) to take us to a show in Spartanburg (sp?) South Carolina one year. That was where I saw my first Wrightson Swamp Thing. My cousin and I flew down in a prop plane one year (about 95 or 96?) to go to the Heroes Con. I was getting heavy into pre-code horror and there wasn't much there to satisfy me. I remember distinctly that McFarlane was there & was promoting Spawn and his new toy line. I waited in line for his sig (my cousin was a HUGE fan & I was getting an issue signed for him, natch) and we got close to the end of the line when my cousin touched one of the toys which then fired a "missile" that nearly hit TM himself!! Hahaha! McFarlane was NONE too pleased! We still got his auto, but MAN WAS HE MIFFED and didn't want to talk to us AT ALL!! Hahahaha!
  4. Cripes! I haven't been on the boards much lately (doing my fanzine!), and I've really been missing out with this thread! Right up my alley! Shiv- mail me a list of what you still need. I've a bunch of DC horror multiples right now. At one point I had three complete runs of SoHH, haha!! A high grade set for myself to squirrel away, a mid to high set to resell, and a low to mid set to read and then "dump". I've still got a TON of multiples left from many titles. Maybe I can help?! Sterling - I take it you live in the Carolinas (probably close, if not IN Charlotte)? "Heroes" was a very cool shop back in the late '80s. I used to visit my mom down in Charlotte for a couple months every summer break. AAaah the memories... I collected Conan back then, and flew home with a paper grocery bag full of about 65 back issues that I guarded with my life on the flight, haha. I picked them up at "Heroes Con" ... the first con I ever attended. Stan Lee was supposed to be there that year but wussed out. My friends on the cul de sac would call the "Heroes Hot Line" religiously for new comic updates. Dang, wish I collected horror comics starting back then..... oh well... As far as stories go, HoM # 201 is of course LEGEND for the "Demon Within" classic yarn. Tied for my personal fave is "Hoppin' Down the Bunny Trail" from Unexpected 202.
  5. I collect "breweriana" from old Cincinnati, Ohio breweries. Bottles, lights, signs, whatever else. I've been "building" a bar now (ok, still in planning stages, hehe) for two years & that is what the whole theme/deco of the thing is going to be. At one time there were over 35 breweries in Cincy making all these unique brands. Now there is just one, and all they make really is Sam Adams for the Boston Beer Co. There is a Miller plant in the county north of Cincy, but I don't count them. Damn shame that big corporations have more or less homogenized/nationalized the once diverse/geographic market, but I guess that's bizznizz... Oh yeah, I also used to collect Misfits & Samhain "punk" records, but I pretty much have 'em all now.
