  1. GPA prices reflect the ebay fees. Shipping and insurance are normally not in the sales price number. Use whatever "logic" you like but the buyer paid $5000 plus sales tax (Unless he lived in a state that doesn't charge or has a resale #), shipping and insurance.
  2. Because that is what the buyer paid for the book.
  3. USPS and UPS are much better then FEDEX. But this is my experience with them. They are notorious for ringing the bell and running. They leave expensive packages on your porch without ringing the doorbell. I've seen them do it and confronted them numerous times. I never have this issue with my UPS or USPS drivers. My other BIG issue with FEDEX is the actual shipping and frankly them being a little too interested in the contents of your shipment. When I fill out the paperwork and give you the package I don't need 20 questions as to what is in it.
  4. I don't believe that companies are "hiding" behind Covid 19 situation. The issue is that shipments are up and basically running as if it was christmas. All of the carriers have delays. FEDEX is not one of my favorite shipping companies but they are not the only one with delays right now.
  5. You could do a Indiana Jones movie recreation with a bowling ball running these over
  6. Boy you must be bored to post this LOL
  7. Can you give me a better deal? I'm buying this for my personal collection. Oh wait, that one was always useless.
  8. The one that I get is "Best cash price". Followed up by me with "Cash" as in benjamin's or electronic "cash" that costs me fees etc.
  9. Yes I do think about retiring but frankly I still enjoy the work. It doesn't feel like work. I generally try to avoid doing modern deals since the fastest way to back problems is lifting long boxes of modern. If I wasn't working I really wouldn't have much else to do. You can only bowl in so many leagues, play golf and watch your stock portfolio go up and down. While many people want to judge my "outsides" and think that I'm not a happy guy I would point out that I'm pretty happy with how my business has grown. With help from a lot of very very good friends I went from starting with two mag boxes to a business with 40K plus books. Years of deals, I travel domestically/internationally. I've met a lot of great people and have a lot of great business partnerships. I did my 30 years of corporate life. It gave me a technical background that has helped enormously with my business. But I haven't heard from one of those "co-workers" in years. If you want to be successful surround yourself with successful people. Don't think you know it all. Constantly change and take some risks but also spread that risk around so all of your business doesn't rise or fall on the last deal you did. Eventually I will have enough but before I'm there I will already have a plan in place.
  10. Greg is a disposed figure head. Shows up for in show signings of checks, does a few dinners, drinks with the boys and runs back to the golf/tennis courts.
  11. Foolkiller is definitely second generation, He pretty much has everybody else do the work for him.
  12. Heroes just cancelled. Based on the email I just got I just became a Heroes 2021 convention booth bondholder. Interest free loan
  13. How exactly does one "funk up" good books? The only thing limiting what I show is lack of Wall display space. I don't subscribe to the "good box" flip through.
  14. I'm not ignoring the pandemic at all I am not minimizing it one bit. The idea that when the states start to open that 22 million will continue to be unemployed is not a realistic assessment either. Should it be classified a depression if it lasts 3-6 months? Now I am absolutely not saying that when states start opening that all of the unemployed go right back to work. But I don't see a depression type scenario either. This is a virus and eventually will be knocked down. Yes people are hurting, people are dying. Not following where that came from as far as me and others having to run my business, pay the rent, eat etc. I guess I'm not supposed to be "hurting" that a big source of my income is disappearing at a alarming rate? As I said money will dictate how large gatherings take place. Sports will be probably be the ones that go first. Drug companies will be coming up with drugs that knockdown symptoms, knockdown therapeutic drugs that will knockdown the virus if you have it and eventually a vaccine. All of this will eventually give people the comfort of going back out into public without thinking that everybody around them is a germ bomb that can kill them.
  15. I have no problem with somebody asking if I have a book. I try to have a organized wall since I don't subscribe to the "chaos" wall setup theory which some do.
  16. Where is the thumbs down emoji? The first insight into how large gatherings would eventually play out are sports. Money and the need to keep the natives calm will lead the way into how this gets resolved. Staying locked up is not a great long term solution. This is a virus, there are a lot of people working on drugs that knockdown symptoms, drugs targeting the virus if you have it and eventually vaccines. This is not a movie where the vaccine gets worked up in a hour and a half. Unfortunately there are a lot of people that think if I get it I'm dead. Which is reinforced by the media every day when the number of reported cases go up and death tolls rise. Throw in some tragic "young person" dies story and we are off to the races. Don't think that if people had a way to know they would be okay things wouldn't be different. But right now everyone looks at the other and wonders, looks at a doorknob and whips out the clorox wipes. Washes their hands, a sneeze is a death sentence. Prices need to fall like your 401? When did the comic market sync to the stock market? The comic market has been suffering from ST-19 (Sales tax 2019) long before the CV-19 virus hit. Recessions are a normal part of life, we've just had a government/fed that has kicked the can on them for a long time.
  17. I second this. With certain books my response is "If I had it the book would be on the wall". What about that is demeaning? Sometimes the person standing in front of me is the 20th person to ask. I wouldn't hide certain books which goes back to a lot of posts from people who think we are hiding the good stuff in a box behind the table. I want to sell books, not hide them.
  18. Sorry but I'll have to disagree. Great show, worth the time, the work, the jet lag. Still my best show. NEVER gets old
  19. You mean masks, gowns and ventilator's? Yup, I'm rolling in them. NWO Cali just shipped a bunch of ventilators to NY.
  20. My grandfather had polio has a child so yes I do remember
  21. Thank you for that message of hope. This thread just gets more uplifting which is why I have basically stopped reading them. I am just thankful that I have lots of inventory that I can grade and price. That there are customers out there still buying. That my website works. That I have good and supportive friends out there that feel I will survive as a business in whatever business world we wind up having. But I would be lying if that "faith" isn't rattled when I don't see things improving to "my timeline"
  22. Website is back online. I love hosting companies that blame you for the issue.
