  1. http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Walking-Dead-Weekly-1-CGC-9-8-Low-Print-Run-Of-8858-/251191444078?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item3a7c2d426e This one. Maybe this is just a scam and I jumped the gun by sounding the alarm to soon. I hope not since its my auction. Also considering the fact that I am selling the Image First #1 and it is not getting this much attention, I am hoping that the winning bidder pays up. Is there an ad for the AMC show on the back of your Image First WD #1?
  2. I did this cover for a fake Anti-Venom one-shot called Urban Sprawl.
  3. As far as speculating, how about this comic? As far as I can tell this is the first appearance of the golden octobot and after ASM 699 it might be worth buying!
  4. This was a one-shot tied into the movie universe, his official introduction into the Marvel 616 comic universe was Battle Scars #1, although he wasn't revealed to be Agent Coulson until Battle Scars #6. Marvel Comics Make Agent Coulson Part Of The 616 True, but just to clarify - he first appeared in Iron Man 2: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in 2010 similar to how Harley Quinn has a first appearance, Batman Adv. 12 and a first in-continuity appearance (a prestige format book with a sick Ross cover ).
  5. I have never understood how his appearance in 180 is not a full appearance? It is pretty clear that his first appearance is in 180 unlike other characters first appearances which are mired in ambiguity like Hellboy( SDCC 2/Dime Press 4 ) or the Goon ( Avatar Illustrated /Dreamwalker 0/Best Cellars ). Then there are others like the TMNT. Is Gobbledygook 1, issue 1 of the series or Comic Buyers Guide 547 the first TMNT appearance? Many see issue 1 of the series as the true first appearance because Gobbledygook was not an actual comic and the ad Eastman and Laird took out in the buyer's guide is just that, an ad. If either Gobbledygook 1 or CBG 547 are the first appearance of the TMNT with an ad then why isn't the DC Current's book I have show considered the first appearance of Bane? I would say the first published appearance of the characters represents the true first appearance ( like Spawn in Malibu Sun 13 ). In the TMNT's case is would be CBG 547 as it predates the convention release of the series issue 1. As far as I can tell there is no publication date for Gobbledygook because it was made with a copy machine. It's all pretty confusing if you ask me. I'm sure all the argument have been hashed out long before this post concerning all the properties in question but in the case of Wolverine 180 it is quite clear that the first full appearance is in 180 and issue 181 is Wolverine's first appearance on a cover. Sadly too many are invested in the misrepresentation of 181 as the first so we are stuck with it. Once upon a time, you couldn't walk into a comic book store and buy a tpb of every storyline you wanted to read about. There was no internet. I know it's hard to believe but it's true. The back issue market was primarily driven by the need to READ these stories to find out what happen in them. So people who were searching for the first 'appearance' of Wolverine, and there came a time when that character started to get really popular so the searching was frantic, didn't want to READ a #180 (all about Wendigo) just for an 'appearance' at the end. They wanted a full story. And thus, they sought out #181. In other words, the MARKET decided it was more important. I think 181 was reprinted in about 86 when 181 started to percolate in price, but yes, you're right. at least for the first few bucks of appreciated value, but at some point the price was based on "collectability," not just a desire to read it...Not to mention, Marvel has been reprinting its stuff for years in its various reprint titles..heck, marvel tales reprinted ASM 129 in two separate issues, once in like the late 70s and again 10 years later. I was flipping through an old Overstreet guide around #10 or so, and I noticed a dealer advertising Hulk 180 for $6.00 and Hulk 181 at $1.25. This was 7-8 years after the issues were released so sometimes this stuff is open for debate for a while. I dont know the story behind that, but over time 181 would be the issue collectors sought out. No one 'decided' it would be 181. The market decided. In fact it's quite possible dealers considered 180 to be the first appearance, but found it just didn't sell as well as 181. The reason? Collectors wanted a full story. I agree, this is what I was alluding too earlier. "First appearances" can sometimes be a ploy but dealers to move books that they heavily speculated on. Ultimately, the market (the people) decides, and more often than not story wins out over promotional items and cameo's. If a dealer tries to deceive people that's one thing but if he's correct then he has the right to seek profit as well as educate the people who buy and sell in that market. And again just because something is popular doesn't mean it is always accurate. I know a few folks who heavily invested in BOFA and look how that popular trend worked out for them. They didn't do the research and left the decision up to strangers. Not wise. What I like about first appearances is that they are black & white. For the last two months I thought Peter Panzerfaust first appeared in Mondo #1. I was wrong. If a character first appears in some obscure magazine ( Flaming Carrot anyone? ) then that's a fact whether issue one of a regular series is worth more or not. As far as VALUE is concerned you are correct, " more often than not story wins out over promotional items and cameo's." but value does not replace truth and make 181 Wolverine's first appearance.
  6. and some Deadpool I did around 5 years ago... [/img]
  7. Here is a Thanos Piece I did last year, Pencil on 11x17 Blueline. [/img]

  9. I agree, it's more of a novelty. Not sure about that statement, If a character or title appears then how is it not a first appearance? Something like Capes1/Agents 6 cannot be debated as the Walking Dead's first appearance. How can it be debated unless you want to argue which was released first. In the case of Invincible I would put Noble Causes 3a or 3b as the first appearance over Tech Jacket if they were released in the same month. I would even argue that something like this is Bane's first appearance... [/img] Edit: Nevermind, I see the Bane reference along the side.... He is pictured inside as well.

  11. may we see that? Cover 1st page in Image section, with descriptions of the characters on the cover Invincible #1 page that is AWESOME!!!!!!! WOW! thanks for this info, just grabbed one online!
  12. Agents #6, Capes #1 and The Walking Dead #1 all arrived in comic book stores on the exact same day. October 8th 2003. Diamond Archives for 10/08/03 At best it's a 3 way tie, but the market will never recognize Agents #6 or Capes #1 as the true 1st appearance of The Walking Dead. In this day and age of technology people know those books were late and they did NOT hit stores before WD #1. Tech Jacket came 1st, but it's a 5 page preview. 11/20/02. Diamond Archives for 11/20/02 If this book is your vote, then ask yourself this question: If a preview is allowed to be the 1st appearance of a character, than isn't Previews Magazine the true 1st appearance of most characters??? I make the argument for a published work with a publication date printed on the work featuring a character to be the first true appearance. Time to pull out all those Previews in storage!

By the letter of the law, then yes they are first appearences, but as a collector of comics, I love the stories. So my spirit says I will not spend as much of my hard earned green on a preview or a promotional piece. Well yes, a collector should only buy what they are passionate about or items they can buy cheap and sell high to buy the expensive things they really desire.

  16. Amazing Spider-Man #594 Are you sure? 594 was the first appearance of the octobots but they all glow green in that issue. From what I can tell Avenging Spider-man 8 is the first appearance of the golden octobot.
  17. Savage Dragon 102 is NOT the 1st Invincible.... This is Invincible's first appearance but there are other notable issues: [/img] Masters of the Universe 1 has a preview; the Graham Crackers Variant, Gold foil cover and 2nd Print appear to the be the hardest to come by. There is also a museum edition for issue 1 but I do not know if the Invincible preview is inside. Marvel Team-up 14-Spidey and Invincible team up! Savage Dragon and Brit contain some early appearances along with Image's four issues series The Pact. Savage 102 is pretty hard to find, at least in New England. Other than the issues with Hellboy and some later issues with presidents I can't think of harder Dragon issues to locate. Any early issue of Invincible will not be easy to acquire but the ones with Hector Plasm are really tough to get. Tech Jacket 1 has a preview too!
  18. it's all about the hype of PP. There are countless image books that have 1st previews / flip books for other titles and many of them are worthless. Worth owning in regards to speculation: WD Chew PP ? I may be missing a few others. Revival seems to be a tough one to get. Is that Epic Kill #2? Yes Revival is in Epic Kill 2 but it is not a first appearance only a preview.
  19. Here's one to buy, Scott Snyder's first published work as a pro and it's a variant cover. [/img]
  20. Hopefully someone will grab the lot and the bidders on mine will be none the wiser. On a side note, should be hitting Lyria any time now with 13 bids/34 watchers! Too early to sell Green Wake 7 and 8!
