  1. I ordered 20 Batman Inc 8 from FP over two weeks ago. Just received an email saying NO GO, SORRY.

They probably did you a favor.

I have no copies of this issue but didn't care either. Dip the boy in the Lazarus Pit...

  2. People keeps pointing to HULK 180 and 181.

This is just MO. But the reason for the HULK 181 is so sought after is the fact that it is one of the best introduction of Wolverine to the story. The fight between Hulk and Wolverine was EPIC. Everyone who has never read the story were curious who would win this battle and I believe, made this book one of the most coveted book.

As for most books, the first appearances always seemed to be better investment for me unless the second appearance has some major dialogue. Take a look at, for example, New X-men 128 and 129, 1st Fantomex or ASM 194 and 195, 1st black cat.

    or Web of Spider-Man 18 and Amazing Spider-Man 300.

YES! Those were major storyline. We just never know which will become more valuable. Venom vs Spidey was another hulk 180, 181

  4. Finally caught up to this page.

THIS is getting out of hands. Thought bubble, 2nd print, 3rd print, orange, blue and most of them in the span of just a couple weeks? I am staying away and selling all of my remaining NWM. It does look suspicious

As I've mentioned before, if publishers don't reject the temptation of overprinting for the sake of taking advantage of the hype, we are all in deep sh$-&t. Collectors will see through it and the bottom will crumble

  5. Without hype and speculation, air Jordan's would be just another pair of shoes, iPhone would be another phone, and comic books would be another magazine struggling to survive on the shelf.

These are the typs of things that makes the news and drive the market. It's a healthy symbiote and will draw more people to conventions and towards collecting. Regardless of who gets the cbldf copies, the secondary market will dictate the next price that people are willing to pay.

  6. Mr Hog.

    Comics are like trains.

When its already left the station,it's often very dangerous to drop everything and rush like the wind to jump on board.

    2c

And eventually most of them come back to the station.

    ...and everyone hops off!

  7. Honestly I didnt feel like dealing with people here trying to bump the price below reasonable because they want to send it in for reholder - x6 inquiries

Perhaps an advantage over a new user is seen :o

Even after the fees, Ive pulled considerably more than the offers I had received..

Better than nothing.... Especially since I have another on the way and the slanting kept me from sleeping at night

In defense of the boards that you claim to be a bunch of low ballers, you listed it for a total of 5 hours. During that time, most are at work, and you took it down before the highest traffic time.

    Congrats on the sale though.

The boards have all manner of people. There are tons of people that want stuff dirt cheap so they can immediately take it to ebay and sell it for more. There are also lots of people willing to pay UP for something they really want, if its hard to find.

For the most part, the majority of people are well informed, and just want a decent price, goldilocks style, "not to high, not to low, just right".

A misaligned book is almost certainly better to be sold on ebay, where people are less focused on 9.8s in general. For instance, I have a Saga 2 9.8 with a scratched case, and I wouldnt even bother to list it here, because I know it's not going to sell for "current saga 2 9.8 price minus reholdering fee".

He didnt "claim [the boards] to be a bunch of low ballers" as you claimed he said. He said he GOT a bunch of low ball offers, which isnt open to interpretation, he just stated the facts of what happened.

Do collector's here really can't stand a scratched case and would prevent them from purchasing it? A book is still 9.8 in my eyes with a scratch on the case. If it has a crack on it maybe I can see why peple would value the book less.

I was just going to say something similar.

  8. I am no expert... But only an old dog always willing to learn the ropes.

Comic books and sports cards were mainly the two items that paid for my college degree. I was lucky to have graduated in 1989 and went on to graduate school with the money I made. During graduate school I had no time to devote to buying and selling. However, it was the perfect accidental period to have gotten out and stayed out. The only titles I kept as a long term investments are ASM, batman, avengers, X-men, and other keys. ASM has been my favorite and am only missing a few issues to complete the full run.

Since 2008 I have gotten back into collecting and the only comics I keep in my collection are slabbed keys and mostly silver age. They are for the long haul or for my three children to do what they want with them. I buy moderns in moderations. For example, I just recently sold a complete set of WD on eBay because I thought the market has presently peaked for them. However, I have 1 more set to sell perhaps when WD reach another peak.

I have said again and again to PMs and comments to other threads here, my strategy is only buy moderns to trade for keys and silver age comics.

Remember the 90s when anyone and their pets can choose a penny stock and it becomes a winner? Well, I missed the boat on that too luckily. I had a few family members and friends who lost everything as a result of it.

So everything in moderation. It's not a race.... Enjoying the hobby and staying conservative is what has kept me financially stable.

    My humble opinion
