  1. Anybody have any issues with a printing defect on the Phantom variants? Described to me as "a tiny pierce near the top of the book on the front cover". (shrug)

I have this on all my # 6 phantom covers, just above the right eye on his forehead.

I don't suppose you have a picture, how bad is it?

Can't get a good picture of it, but the defect is only about 2mm long and in almost the exact same spot on every cover. Looks like it was caused by some part of the printing machine. It doesn't break colour. Unless you look hard you wouldn't notice it.

Found this pic on ebay, if you look above the L in the title you can see the defect.

Wellllllll DAMN! I just checked both of mine and they both have the issue. Funny thing is that they were purchased from 2 totally different places.

JUST FOR THE RECORD GRAHM CRACKER ROCKS!!! I found a spine crimp on the one I got from them and no questions asked, they have another in the mail to me.

I got a box from Midtown shipped in a box and wrapped in bubble wrap. The books all had spine stress and one of the books looked like someone was playing hockey with it - it was so bad that if I didn't know better, I'd think it was a joke! They told me it was my shipping that likely caused the issue. There is noooooooo way the shipping caused this much damage.

  2. This thread hits home in a lot of ways, I'm a long time collector but usually only silver keys. I recently got into moderns and coppers when deadpool and x23 really took off (historically marvel guy). The funny thing is that I started buying moderns because I like them Saga, revival mostly. What I've found myself doing lately is buying dumb stuff that I would never have purchased in the past, looking for the mid range flip... I justified this by saying that I would use the cash to pick up the older keys and hoping I'd find something I liked in the process. I can't say I love Bedlam or NWM... But have a fair share in conjunction with more ridiculous things like Blackacre (GREAT COMIC BTW - you should totally buy several copies).

I can't say that this is a pop and flop like the 90s because comic companies are smarter, print more efficiently, etc... But I do think that there is a shelf life to some -especially those linked to TV and movie rumors. My only advise to echo many others here (which I have to remind myself of) is to buy what you love first and hope to make a profit second... It's the only way you can enjoy the hobby for the long term, otherwise invest in a ticket to Vegas and shoot your load on the nickel slots.

  3. I'm all over this show or not. I agree, for 3 bucks you can't beat it... Some of the most fun to be had in a comic.

PS: ABC blows so even if they do have a show, it will suck though I hope they get sued again. Sooner or later someone will have to win.

  4. Yeah, I just went back in a bought a bunch of back issues - and second and third prints ( mostly because I love the cover differences - but the new cover is beautiful. Can't wait to read... I'm having a ducks/one basket issue

  5. I just dived into this title with issue 6 and I'm lost. I do have a Revival #1 (1st printing) coming from a boardie and I purchased a few of the Image Firsts version so I'll read that and hopefully I'll understand what's going on but I enjoyed it and looking forward to picking up 2-5 now.

Trade is out - I would have sent you mine but I already forwarded it on... check amazon paperback tradeins - it is a terrific read...

  6. I'm not familiar with the 52. If the writing is half as good as say Iron Man NOW, well then I just don't get it. I would just bring them down to the fire pit and roast a bucket of puppies your Marvel NOW's as there has to be less bad karma in that than reselling them (and their 10,000 variants) to the unsuspecting public.

This is coming from someone with unwavering devotion to Marvel - even through the 90s.

  7.

Great article, which expresses my sentiments exactly. Saga not withstanding, Revival is one of the most original books I've read in years. Unfortunately this is the same thing that happened to Fables with Once Upon a Time. For me, that was a deal breaker... This is just icing on the cake... I hope someone has the goose eggs to challenge ABC sooner rather than later. That creatives would work for them blatantly ripping off other creatives is horrible. They deserve a little bad karma...

  8. Very cool letter Gary! That said, with all of the controversy brewing, this series is goin down. You should immediately liquidate everything at cost... To me. Don't worry, I'll take those worthless 9.9s off your hands for your cost.
