  1. True...but at least he wrote most of them, and worked on all of them except Spidey #121. And MSH18 which he openly said he had nothing to do with... He is literally going to sign everything before he dies....
  2. Yeah, one of the greatest movie soundtracks ever made. You could tell there was heart put into it.
  3. It's possible, sure. I think AMC is keen on finding a heavy hitter to replace Madmen when it ends later this year. And this Preacher deal has some Hollywood muscle behind it. It seems like the current prognosis for it would be good, but who knows... they could make a turd and get shot down. Again, better chances than if ABC had it. Would be called Pastor and no rights would be paid.
  4. Oh man... I suddenly don't like you any more. I'm taking my broken toys and goin home. It's like the beautiful blonde at prom that the rest of the girls don't want to stand next to for fear of comparison. I always LOVED Destroyer. I thought his costume was one of GA's best.
  5. That toilet is absolutely terrifying. There is NO way I would ever put that on the john. I would be using the bushes in the yard.
  6. Here are a couple of things I've been working on. The Thing is hard to see... it's in blueline right now...
  7. Sighhhhh. A black Tulip who grew up learning how to hunt and shoot guns from her Irish father? Barf. Ethnically sensitive revisionist casting is the bane of comic book entertainment. I'm not a fan of Dominic Cooper either - I'd much rather see an unknown for Jesse Custer, but I could live with that. Changing around Tulip's backstory simply because they want to "ethnicize" it is really pointless. Someone please tell Seth Rogen to save the black heroine female lead for when they get around to casting YTLM, where it actually works. Wait until the world gets around to telling us all superheroes should be homely and fat. I CANT WAIT FOR THAT!!! At least it wasn't sold to ABC, who dropped the contract and made a show called Pastor, that follows a holy man possessed by an entity named 'entity'. Clearly a unique idea thought up by THEIR writers.
  8. Man... Now you've said it. There is NO other choice in my mind... Would have totally killed the role. The show is ruined now due to lack of casting.... Damn.
  9. I have roughly the $ it would take to get the hot toys sitting around. I couldn't bring myself to do it. I could/did however dump said cash on a DD1 in a flat second.
  10. Too bad you were eating soup and reading it before you submitted it. It is a really pretty 3.5. Great find.
  11. I'm really on the fence with this one... It looks awesome, it was a no brainer until I saw the price. My wife is very patient but this one would likely be an issue. Plus it's not out for a year and a half.
  12. What about the guy who keeps 80-95% of his net worth in comics or comic art? Because, in all seriousness, I know some guys like that. :whatthe: Slabs stacked high like an emergency shelter with a sleeping bag tucked inside. I do often wonder when I see pictures of a book like an AF15 shot in what looks like a grungy trailer with big wheels and garbage in the background, how about the ones shot on dirty sheets, Picts of gnarled feet in the shot on nasty, dirty tiles. What is the logic behind owning such high priced books and living like that?
  13. This one is delicious!!! DELICIOUS! Has a wee bit of that Marvel 'chipping'... *cough*
  14. I suggested spending money in better ways, you attacked me. I made a point on how I look at things. You getting upset and name calling on a message board suggests that I may have made a valid point. I am going to take this no further, so please continue to name call and chat on this matter. You will only be talking with yourself. Planning on going to Comic Con? We can meet and chat then if you would like? PS. My Metals went to all time high in 2011-2013 2013 was an awful year to be in metals, but I'm sure you meant you made money by buying put options on all of the precious metal ETFs. Look, I have no problem with stocks. But if you are going to come to a comic book chat forum and tell everyone how stupid they are for buying comics and how brilliant you are for buying stocks at least have the cajones to name one stock or one mutual fund that you think can outperform my stack of FP 1's. I Never called anyone stupid. What are you talking about? When it comes to financial, you have to do your own DD. At no time did I offer any advice. I just stated a person can put money in other things. I gave a few examples, You guys love your comics. I love the ones that I buy for myself. I treasure them as much as the next guy. I only collect one comic line. So I only know whats worth of what I have. I made money in other revenues to pay for my books, and to have nice books. I am not turning this into a "Spoon" size competition. I will live my life, you and everyone else can live theirs. I think its wonderful you have such nice books. Things you treasure and your right to enjoy them. Seriously, please hope you have a good day and enjoy. ....you've been on here for 5 years now.... haven't you realized yet that logic and common sense are not welcome 'round these parts GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u +1 Deaf ears...
  15. The 4 actors range from 28-32. You really think they look like young teens? Haha, teens yes... Maybe not young teens but teens nevertheless.
  16. This argument is frustrating... Regardless of whether or not you feel comics are a good investment, they are an investment. You can argue that for you personally, as someone who is a purist and is planning on dying and being buried with your comics, that to you they are merely an emotionally valued object, they are not an investment. You can in no way argue that comics are not an investment for someone else. Beanie Babies were an investment for some in the 90s. Yes a stupid, ill conceived investment, much like Penny stocks, but an investment nevertheless. Comics may either hold their value or not, depending upon the book, the market's appetite for the medium, the age, whatever, but they ARE an investment. I personally would invest heavily in pig lard...
  17. If it were me, I'd go hard on Alf #48. That's where the money (shot) is.
  18. Even with hot toys, the delay is brutal. They take payments then delay release for a few months.(through the company even though it gets released oversees earlier) .. You know, just because you've been paying on it for a year.
  19. It's only dangerous If you use the past as an absolute, and aren't prepared for the worse, which is something a lot of real estate investors weren't prepared for. A lot of those people weren't even prepared to buy real estate in the first place, let alone prepared for the worse. Using the past to predict future outcomes can be a great tool when utilized correctly, though it can be dangerous when the full spectrum isn't taken into account. I think people took the real estate market value for granted, and If they had taken a closer look at how real estate has played out in previous times, they may have been a bit more hesitant to invest their money into it. I think ignoring the past is an even more dangerous move than trying to incorporate it to your advantage. Comics can be relatively inexpensive (especially compared to real estate). If someone was to invest $800 in Hulk 181, and the book crashed, then so what? You may have lost $800, but you certainly won't need to file bankruptcy (unlike the real estate crash). On the flip side, If someone was to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars into the same book, then yeah, it's risky, because If that book crashes, you now have to face a major loss. The solution here is to not put all your eggs in one basket. Regardless, there's always two sides to a coin. I'm not saying it's impossible for there to be an AF 15 crash, or a Hulk 181 crash, but I am saying that investing in comics doesn't have to be as risky or dangerous as some people here are making it out to be. Great post. (thumbs u And this same line of reasoning could be (should be) applied to "any" investment. I think many of the nay-sayers just think the notion of comic books as an "investment" is silly. And it is, if that's all you are putting your money into. But as with stamps, coins, antiques, fine art, classic cars, watches, wines, etc., comic books are indeed a fun and diversified place to put your money. Sure, it's important to have your stocks, and bonds, and blah, blah, blah too, we all know that. But something like a Cap or Action 1, or Tec 27 on down to this recent "Spider-Gwen" cr@p can be treated as "investments" in their own rights (to varying degrees of course). Though an Action 1 would be the bluest of the blue chips, and "Spider-Gwen" would be the penniest of day-traded pink sheet penny stocks. My 2 "Spider-Gwen's". -J. Poetic and true... It's all a Risk. Some investments are more even keel, some are more risky. I invest in real estate, 401k, sugested stocks, even in an aggressive growth fund (risk all across the board there) and it's boring as hell to me. At least this way I get to enjoy the ride. (that's what it's about anyway, right?)
  20. This may be a joke, but I actually looked into investing here a few years ago - actually as an alternative investment source for my mother-in-law. If only they could iron out the little discrepancy between the fed and local law, (e.g.: in Colorado where companies have to hold onto copious amounts of cash because federal banks can't take money from what is paramount to a federally illegal business), it would be a great time to get in... The alternative is to invest in either companies who have made a name with medicinal marijuana or companies that supply things like the hydroponics to the emerging market. I've not done it, but I'm telling you there is money to be made here. A ton of cash when the tide changes. I'm still watching as a viable option... Re Colorado - they gave back $600M in tax dollars last year because the state couldn't do anything with it... Tell me more states aren't going to find a way to make this an opportunity.
  21. I love this statement, and I think it's a point that the naysayers are completely missing. Key issues are investments, because people put a lot of money into these books, and in the long run, there can be return. Many comics have proven this to be true for decades. Sure, there might be better/safer investments than key issue comics, but that doesn't rule out the fact that books like AF 15 are much more of an investment than a hobby. You just need to be wise with which comics you choose to invest in. High yield stocks are risky... I've maxed out my 401k, I'm actively managing my stocks through a broker, I love comics, but I see them as a hobby/investment. I try to be smart with what will yield long term vs what is a flip. I usually only buy silver and some gold... But if I have a good tip, I'll flip something more modern. You know, like an educated investment opportunity. I just can't see the thousands of dollars tied into my keys and not be proud of them... Or that they will over time grow in value...
