I love this statement, and I think it's a point that the naysayers are completely missing. Key issues are investments, because people put a lot of money into these books, and in the long run, there can be return. Many comics have proven this to be true for decades. Sure, there might be better/safer investments than key issue comics, but that doesn't rule out the fact that books like AF 15 are much more of an investment than a hobby. You just need to be wise with which comics you choose to invest in. High yield stocks are risky... I've maxed out my 401k, I'm actively managing my stocks through a broker, I love comics, but I see them as a hobby/investment. I try to be smart with what will yield long term vs what is a flip. I usually only buy silver and some gold... But if I have a good tip, I'll flip something more modern. You know, like an educated investment opportunity. I just can't see the thousands of dollars tied into my keys and not be proud of them... Or that they will over time grow in value...

I don't think you understand how bubbles work. They aren't a cyclical thing, they are a one time expansion followed by a rapid deflation. Internet stocks didn't inflate and pop before the 1990's bubble. Tulip bulbs didn't inflate and pop before their bubble. House values didn't experience the same inflation and pop before the housing bubble of the mid 2000's. Agree with what you're saying. This is why I personally only have copper's that I've wanted since childhood. Same as buying a sculpture or hot toy... Personal and expensive, not for the investment. As for comics in general, not sure you're going to see long term success with stocking up on East of West #1 but FF #1, JIM83, BB28, IH1, etc will probably and have historically survived deflated markets... Who knows, maybe IH181 will stand the test of time... I'm just amazed at prices compared to other Bluechips with lower print runs, graded copies, etc.

I agree with Jim and support the notion that all X-Men # 94s are worthless and should be sold immediately to me at a maximum of 1/3 GPA xxx ooo Rupp Dear lord. All I can think of is someone tripping down those steps and cause so many psychological injuries and broken slabs. The 12 year old me thinks you are my hero. Golds are AWESOME. But not showing great growth. Year over year static growth unless you have some serious cash to dump in something like a CA3 which will surly jump a little in a couple of years (much more than the shload of Lee signature out there) when the time for him to move on to greener pastures. $800 won't get you much in gold is all I'm saying...

Honest question to all... IH 181 seems high to me right now. GSX1 will likely have moderate incremental growth - really likely won't pop (it's the single comic I wanted most as a kid though so had to pick one up in high grade). Comics in general have experienced growth regardless of bubbles/busts/dips in the market (overall) for 50 years. Why would you go with a bronze that has such high distribution #s vs. working for a key silver? I'm just curious about the 'long term investment' strategy. Safe to say 'buy for the love, not the investment' but a little piece of my portfolio is comics. It's volitile, but so are a moderate % of my stocks. It's all a gamble in the end. I can't afford to sink 16% of my gross into a fund with 2.5% growth and expect that it's going to fund my entire retirement. (That said, like jewlrey, I want to hand down a few books to my kids). If it's an 'and/or' question, I'd suggest IH181 both out of personal preference and character blue-ish chip factor. I likely wouldn't hold onto a 4-5.0 for 30 years. I'd be AMAZED if you do too. I would think if you went IH181 with the goal of turning it in 4-5 years, and think long term about how that chunk of change would chip away at a true blue chip (JIM83, IH1, AF15 or even a nicer IH181 if that's your thing). That's personal preference though. $800 is a good chunk of change but likely a much different chunk as a 40 year old or a 50-60 year old.

It's probably in good condition 2.5. There is 1" triangle out of the lower right corner of the cover and spine wear. I don't have access to a scan. I know literally nothing about DC beyond what are the keys. I'm honestly not an avid collector of Flash. Any thoughts on whether it's worth picking up?

How is this different from the CW Flash show? The CW show is much different then those Carmine Infantino Flash comics I treasured or the same with the Arrow show is much different from the Neal Adams and Mike Grell Green Arrow comics. Chronicle was a brilliant movie if FF is at that level,then we have a winner. Guardians of the Galaxy made good money this summer and the characters were only loosely based on their comic counterparts. I'm not seeing a huge difference here to be honest. And BH6 is pretty much BH6 in name only. Disney took huge liberties with that one. And that movie is doing just fine. Let's face it, the fan boys are not necessarily needed to make these movies hits. Yes, but both of those movies you mentioned ended up getting the support of fanboys. In fact, most fanboys seemed to be in support of them before they even saw the movie. This situation is quite different as the fanboys are completely against this from the start. another slight difference is that Fantastic Four is the one of the cornerstones of the entire Lee/Kirby Marvel Universe while GOTG and BH6 are both comics/characters that no one gave a rats azz about. who was going to get up in arms if they butchered GOTG? if it looks like they are taking a steaming dump on Stan/Jack's masterpiece, i understand the outrage. This +1000, you can't turn you back on your roots completely. It seems amazing that if the movie is in name only how they can still claim rights to the franchise.

They could just focus on making a decent movie... Rights come as a perk to that. Fox is going to reshoot Apocolypse Now staring Archie and the gang... They will be at war, but it will be trench war at the soda counter fighting over Veronica's legs. Spoiler, Jughead is an alien scientist sent here to teach man how to create the first atomic wedgie. Bettie gets wasted cause she won't wear a mask, and spends a third of the movie tripping into trenches. just can't wait.
