  1. From FF 44-67 all this was put forth: Inhumans / Great Refuge Galactus Silver Surfer Negative Zone / Blastarr Black Panther / Wakanda / Vibrainium / Klaw Wyatt Wingfoot Evil Eye Kree / Sentry / Ronan Him and let's not forget FF Annuals #4, 5 & #6 re-intro original Human Torch (who is later appropriated by Ultron 5 and re-created as the Vision- has this origin of the Vision held up in the comics or has it been changed?) Psyco Man / Microverse 1st solo Silver Surfer story birth Franklin Richards Annihilus
  2. The Fantastic Four have been a victim of their own success. I mean, how do you follow up what Lee/Kirby/Sinnott did with the title. It's just one of those special moments in time (that was so cutting edge) that it can't be replicated, duplicated, translated or updated beyond what it originally was. The Marvel Universe could never be what is/was without it, but this is why it keeps failing now. The nostalgia and respect for it's importance is just too great. It's a masterpiece of its time, thus nothing can compare to that and anything else is just a disappointment and insult.
  3. Very odd indeed. Call them and point this out. Have them post a new scan or have them contact the consignor to post a new scan.
  4. Looks good to me. Usually when you see a whiter border or edges and a little darkening to the inside of a cover like that, it's just a little color pick up or bleeding/reaction of the inks on the interior cover and splash page showing through the front cover.
  5. Yondu was really the star of this movie. Turns out he was the pivotal character to everything that was happening and was smarter and wiser than everyone, but stuck to his guns even when it made it look like he was the bad guy. Based on what was revealed in this movie, Yondu's decisions single handedly saved Peter Quill and the galaxy from Ego's plans. It was nice they vindicated him in the end.
  6. Well, pretty good overall, but the plot device used to turn Peter Quill/Starlord against Ego seemed unnecessary and forced with no logical reason for Ego to do what he did to Peter's mom. The best I can guess by what Ego said, he was running away from his own feelings for her in order to pursue his meaning, but why bother and go out of the way to do what he did to her? It just doesn't make sense and it doesn't make sense he would reveal that fact to Peter. Just what did he think Peter's response would be to that news?
  7. It's always good to inspect your books as much as possible before submitting. I use a dual mag magnifying glass and I also use a black light since stains are usually grade killers and are more easily detected using a black light.
  8. Holy cow, what awesome pictures. Two of the most influential powerhouses of pop culture meeting together. I've never seen this pic before, thx for posting. Just made my day. Think of how different our world would be without Lennon/McCartney and Lee/Kirby.
  9. Saw it last night and liked it. Enjoyable and fun movie. The bad guys get to be good guys and the good guys prove to be not much different when everyone has to confront a common enemy. The "it's the end of the world if we don't do this" plot is getting overused in these movies. Time to find a different theme or plot device.
  10. Is it just me, or did anyone else notice in this movie the uncanny striking resemblance between Sophie Turner/Jean Grey and this guy?
  11. Nice camera work, kinda scary. After all these years, that's the first time I've actually seen a ROM toy (in action). I bought the comic back in the day, but had never, ever seen the toy.
  12. Things have sure changed. Back in the 60's and 70's when I was a kid I lived in a town of about 60,000 people. There must have been 2 dozen or more places around town I could buy comic books. You couldn't miss them, almost every drug store, grocery store and even some department stores sold them. Didn't matter if it was a local outfit or a chain; they had them. Now there are only 2 places that carry them; my local comic shop and a Books A Million located in our mall.
  13. ...and unpunched too! Wow!!! Looks like it just came off the production line. I can post more of my old collection if you guys want. At one point I probably had the largest Super Powers collection in the world. Holy Cow! By all means, show us more!!! By the way, where do you live and where do you store this cache? My friend Guido would like to come over and, ummm...help protect them for you.
  14. Not necessarily, as the same cards were issued in Australia with stickers applied to the back. Is there a large French speaking population in Australia?
  15. I think Steppenwolf was a promo figure at first, but then was later released as a standard figure.
  16. Here's an image of the back of that Superman figure. I've also included an image of my other carded Super Powers figures. I bought the rest myself back in the 80's when they were on clearance. Unfortunately the Steppenwolf card has had the original price sticker pulled off. If I remember right, they were in a bin marked clearance- $1.00 each and the price stickers were pulled off of all of them like this. I think I chose this one because it was the only one in the bin that I didn't already have. Wow, has that been 30+ years ago already?

  18. That is one fantastic Star Wars figure. Interesting you should create this thread today as I just picked up this Superman figure yesterday. I hardly ever buy any toys but this one I just had to have. I believe this is a 1984, 1/12 back Canadian edition because of the dual language (English/French) and the Poster offer instead of the Fan Club offer.
  19. It happens from time to time due to shipping backup. Don't assume it's in the mail until you receive a tracking number package. [/quote] , you got that right!
  20. I'm a little perplexed. One of my recent submissions converted to "Shipped/Safe" on Apr. 11. No package shows up over the course of the next two weeks. I get an email that the package has shipped Apr. 25, two weeks after it converted to shipped. What gives? Has anyone else noticed this happening?
  21. Yellow labels are qualified labels. They just aren't green... (that's why you've never seen a yellow label with a green strip at the top when it is a "qualified signature series book" cause it doesnt exist, it's redundant). I had a book already signed by Gil Kane, which downgraded the book to an 8.5 (if I wanted it to be universal) then I got it signed by people via the Sig Series program, and it came back yellow 8.5 with a note of "name written on front cover" Blank books are designed to be drawn on (just like you said the numbered books are designed to be numbered). Once they are drawn on they are no longer mint. if you drew on one and then sent it in for grading it would either get a green qualified label with a note "drawing on front cover" or get a much lower grade universal label. Only via SS program are signatures and sketches given a non-gree qualified grade (yellow label). If the manufacturing compan, had done the numbering as part of the SS process with witnesses it would have gotten a yellow label. In fact that's not a bad idea for numbered con exclusives. It the signer is both signing and numbering while being witnessed thru the SS program it gets the yellow label if the person wants to sub it. Problem solved. And I think they've been consisitent about this for a long time cause there are old Gen13 green labels for some of their numbered covers... Interesting point. File that.
  22. That is exactly my point. Sometimes you get a downgraded blue label and sometimes you get a qualified green label. There is no consistency. CGC needs to choose one way or the other. Just because you don't understand the criteria doesn't mean it's not consistent  If the qualified defect would cause a significant grade drop - green label by default. If the qualified defect doesn't really impact the grade - eg. a missing coupon on a book that's already low grade - blue label by default. The only exception to this is if the submitter specifically requests a blue label on what would otherwise be a high grade qualified book - the book then gets the blue label and the qualified defect causes a significant grade drop. I don't understand why they would qualify a book like this that is designed to be numbered as it is. There is a special place printed on the book for the sole purpose of this numbering. It's ludicrous they would consider the book actually being numbered a qualifying (defect). Every one of them was probably numbered. I just don't get this. If I follow the same logic, then every book in their signature series should get a qualified label too. (Same for date stamps.)
  23. Why stop there? Why not thrust the spear into Doomsday herself? Heck, you're right, she could have easily snuck up on Doomsday and done him in herself. What a great plot twist that would have been.
