  1. Nothing has paid off like the investments I made when I was 8-9 years old!
  2. @Kirby_Fan I have 4 parts to my collecting philosophy: Nothing exceeds like excess. Anything worth doing is worth over-doing. Less is not more. He who dies with the most toys wins. I agree with the first 3 but this for number 4... He who dies lives with the most toys wins.
  3. My collecting focus seems to follow along these lines.....I want whatever I don't have (and can't afford).
  4. Does this mean we may or may not get to see this...
  5. Will they deduct from the grade for centering on comic books like they do for cards? I have always thought deducting from the grade of a card for centering when it was manufactured that way (especially how hard they hit the grade for this on an other wise pristine looking card) was just wrong. To me an object's grade should be based on condition: how much it still is like it was when it was made or new, manufacturing defects should not count or if anything count in a subgrade, not the primary grade on condition.
  6. Might also want to be aware, if a crime is committed and the criminal or criminal enterprise has any ties to any bank in question, the government can seize all assets that bank contains in search of criminal assets, so if that happens, you can kiss your treasured valuables in a safe deposit box goodbye and good luck trying to get your stuff back. There are plenty of horror stories of innocent people having their assets and accounts taken in this manner without due process. Here's one such recent story. 7. Gil Kane drew some fantastic covers for the Atom! In my opinion, he is a very underappreciated artist, especially his Silver Age work on the Atom and Green Lantern (along with various other fill in jobs he did over that period).
  8. @Hepcat You've got some amazing copies going there. I was always a fan of the Brave and Bold, but I was a little late to the party, starting my collection and original run of the title with issue #73 and had every issue until #104. I did manage to acquire some earlier issues as far back as #59 from some of my brother's friends. In modern times I've added more and nicer copies, some raw and some graded going back to issue #55 (I'm partial to the Metal Men). The cover art and coloring on most of the issues are very well done, but I have always thought issue #60 was one of the weakest covers of the title; Wonder Girl's head shot art is just ridiculous. Anyway, kudos to you for a fantastic looking set of books!
  9. You don't have to have super-powers to be a super-jerk.
  10. The villains must have been spending more time in the sun.
  11. Plenty of World's Finest Comics have a lot of backstabbing and gloating going on; this one's got Supergirl and Batgirl getting the one up on the boys...
  12. Poor Supes, looks like he stepped in it this time,
  13. Supes wipes out the entire JLA by himself and then gloats about it on this cover...
  14. Doc Magnus being extra jerky as he frequently was to Tina...
  15. The red head with living red hair...whoa!
  16. Let's not forget the ultimate Red Head!
  17. Natasha at her best (as presented by Gene Colan)!
  18. One of the most iconic scenes in all of comics; the Mary Jane reveal!
  19. Yes, I almost included #44-46 as that looks like when they were starting to test the waters of featuring Batman on the covers more than they had been before, but things went full bore with #47. I wonder if there was a memo sent out to the cover artists to do this from the top brass?
  20. This is also one of my personal favorites. (This also was the last one to feature Batman as the centerpiece hero character that had been the norm since issue #47, unless you want to count the grown-up Robin with the hybrid Batman/Robin uniform in the next issue. No doubt they were trying to capitalize on the popularity of the Batman TV show during this time).
