  1. What is the market like for Bone #1 1st prints these days? I picked up a copy in a collection and am debating whether to hold or sell.

I think it's depressed, but will defer to someone else. I've picked up a #1 2nd for $10 recently.

I don't know, I think first print Bone issues are something that collectors will still get giddy over. I saw a bad copy (5.0ish) at Special Edition NY that was sold for $500 and the buyer was giddy about getting.

Another dealer had a graded 5.5 on display and he said it was display on (he would never part with that, he said, just because it took him so long to find a copy).

It just seemed like people were pouncing on Bone issues at the con.

  2. In the last month or so, I don't think any issues of MD are actively "sought after". LBCC is still up there but Ottley and #1 1st print prices are dropping like a stone, I guess everyone here has a 9.8 or 2 going by the census (Regular cover = 255 blue 9.8, Ottley = 107 blue 9.8)

Yeah it's crashing hard, if you have any i'd get out now.

I have an LBCC but wonder if I should cash out now while the going is good. With the scarcity of this particular book, I'm wondering if I should just hang onto this particular variant just in case?

As the guys said, they are dropping like stones. You should sell it to me super cheap. lolol

    A+ for effort! :P

  4. So should Nightbreed get as hot as The Strain? It's from a novel, has comics that are a continuation of the story... http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=41439

    :P

    Interesting, anythings possible.

Edit: just watched that movie preview, not everything is possible.

It's an old movie now and still has a cult following ;)

Good call on this, that movie is great and i can't image there are a ton of Nightbreed comics floating around out there.

I've always been a huge Nightbreed fan, sigh.

    "Save me from my enemies!"

  5. You 9.8 guys will have your work cut out for you. :busy: Another jet black spine. Just about all of the copies I saw at Midtown had some degree of white ticks.

Also, here's a tip: there's an odd gray dot between the A and P of "C H A P T E R" to watch out for. It would be easy to miss if you're focused on spines and corners, but if you're as picky as I am it may bug you later. :D I noticed it on maybe 25% of the copies I looked through. I wonder if it might have been a mistake (a tiny bit of the non-black art peeking through in a high-profile spot) that they decided to fix on press.

I heard the same--that conditions of this book were lackluster and it was going to be hard to hit a 9.8

    I could be wrong (shrug)

  6. if that were around 800 or so, I'd think about it. It's a nice sketch, and good luck getting anything beyond a doodle from charlie nowadays...

800 still sounds ridiculous to me purely because you can get a fairly decent original page for that price. No contest. I'm not that into detailed sketch covers myself, purely because in the majority there is no big gulf between them and the originals. There are cases for some artists like Neal Adams where even though his sketches are very expensive there is a jump when it comes to his OA.

I still think they are better for quick sketches than a sheet of A4 paper if there isn't an option for anything else.

Still if you want to go as far as to break it down that auction is the 300, plus the price of the blank, plus winning the sketch lottery or queueing the night before, plus possibly taking a day's holiday from work, plus the cgc fees, plus the con tickets, plus the travel and possibly the stay, plus a bit on top to make a profit. It's not unreasonable to say that someone wanting to get one made for themselves could wind up spending 5 to 600 doll hairs in cash and time before thinking about profit. Heck they even have to risk not even getting a sketch op but turning up to the con anyway and leaving empty handed.

    800 suddenly sounds almost reasonable.

3k+ is silly because this isn't a charity auction. I would understand it if someone is thrill listing it and they actually want to keep it.

Hey Bjorn. Thrill list your #1 page for $50k ;)

    (shrug)

I'd rather spend the 800 to buy original art/WD pages.

I mean, the way I see it, if someone is going to a con that Adlard is in, just pay them the $300 plus another $100 for their trouble of picking it up.....

    But that's just me....

    :sorry:

  7. I'm actually starting to like Laurel a bit more through her travails with substance abuse and blackouts.

She might yet be salvageable as a player.

It looks like they're setting her up to be a villain. "Once you let the darkness in, you can't get it out."

Or they're setting her up to be Black Canary.

    Which would be awful.

She makes a horrid Black Canary. Ugh.

Anyone notice that a future episode is called "The Man Under the Hood?" http://arrow.wikia.com/wiki/The_Man_Under_the_Hood

Allegedly Marc Guggenheim has given us the riddle "Not all hoods are green" and "Seeing Red." This points to Red Hood but I wonder.....if, instead of the Jason Todd Red Hood, we are seeing Joker instead? He was the ORIGINAL Red Hood and they did drop a Harley Quinn Easter egg in there......

    Thoughts?

  8. Speaking of Ryan Ottley, does anyone know which issue was his first issue? When did he start doing the art on that (taking it over from Cory)?

    Oh my oh my... :takeit:

    http://www.skybound.com/skybound/2014/3/14/invincible-111-pencil-variant-revealed.html

"Not only is INVINCIBLE #111 the beginning of a new era for the Invincible Universe, but it's also Ryan Ottley's 100th issue of INVINCIBLE!

To celebrate the occasion, Skybound is releasing two variants for INVINCIBLE #111. Pictured below, a cover featuring Ottley's remarkable pencils will be available as a variant. In addition, a blank sketch cover of INVINCIBLE #111 will be on sale. This will be the first blank sketch cover for an issue of INVINCIBLE since the series began."

It was me...! No hard feelings I hope!

I've always loved this series and thought that it was an overall pretty good price. =)

Ended up giving away six, because there was a near tie. Again, sorry, but that is all I've got to give away for now!
