$1495 to attend the JSC luncheon. WTF?

What a great way to alienate your fanbase.

$1500 is a very high price tag for a luncheon. However, if the remark is on one of his rare convention variants and is a legit character, I feel it could be worth it.

I am a big JSC fan and I certainly dont feel alienated by the price tag. It could be the only time I would ever get to sit down and hang out with my favorite artist. If I can generate the funds, I will probably do it.

  2. Wasn't worth the investment to me at $200 + shipping. If you're lucky, you can get $300 + shipping on the bay. Leaves you with $54 profit. $200 to POSSIBLY make $54 is not a wise investment, IMO.

I would like to think that Campbell hopes this happens with this sale and that more of these books get into collectors hands as opposed to flippers. However, at the end of the day, he gonna bank regardless.

  3. Is it just me or did JSC increase their price for the signed venom 3 from $175 (pre the delay) to $200. Maybe they want a slice of the pie from the pre-sellers?

Damn! He did increase the price to $200. But now there is an option, not for collectors obviously, described as variant with "some imperfections" for $100.

Too bad he's increasing the price to an already very expensive cover.

    Still cheaper than the bay.

This is why I believe the prices went up. Does not bother me any. He did the cover and if joe schmoe is getting 150+ for the book, why the hell should he not get the same.

  4. What's the chances of the cover being an original art piece similar to DCs Jim Lee sketches? Who would they tap to "almost" make the price worth it? Romita Sr?

I might be tempted if they got Campbell to do a full copic on a blank cover for the 1:1000. But, I am a fanatic about Campbell, sooooo that may not be for everyone.

  5. Hmmm...a 1:1000 variant on a $10 cover price book. That is what, around a $5000 order for most shops? So, this will be a Del'Otto, Hughes, Campbell collaboration of all the spidey ladies in what would likely need to be a inappropriate situation? Or have Ditko sketch a spidey face on a blank for anyone who makes that order? Perhaps a Stan Lee sketch, drawing a $ and a couple "HA HA HA."

Not sure what I would rather have...

  6. I am really liking the detail that he did for the Venom cover. I am glad I did not pass on this one. Pretty sure plenty of shade will be thrown its way. Had it been a female pinup sexy Venom, it would have likely been hot like fire.... (shrug)

I'm surprised that Marvel didn't pick a female host for Venom this time around.

Kinda surprised as well. It would have a been an interesting story line if Venom snagged Black Cat. And the potential cheesecake variant covers would have been glorious.

  7. I didn't hate it and will see it again one more time in the theatres to take it all in again.

    A few things I wasn't crazy about....

No crawl...made it a regular movie and not SW

When John Williams passes movies will never, ever be the same. The music was generic, except for the directly influenced Williams themes.

Dr. Evezan giving the exactly same line he uses in Star Wars, and Red Leader and Gold Leader "standing by" stolen directly from Star Wars footage was so hokey and cringe worthy. I also know I'm probably one of two people (other than my daughter) who noticed though.

    Jim

Personally, I really liked the fact that they took the exact same scenes from the original movies. There are just some parts you can not find a replacement for(i.e Tarkin and Leia) I cringed only slightly when I first saw the initial CGI, but after thinking about it, it was necessary to stay within the spirit of that time of the story line.

On a completely separate note, there was a nod to the Rebels series that was incredibly subtle that I did not even notice on the first viewing.
