  1. An Action #1 cover recreation with the Alex Ross/Kingdom Come Superman tossing a Tesla.
  2. I suspect it is a third version, but that’s just speculation on my part.
  3. https://deadline.com/2024/02/diego-boneta-cast-prime-video-series-el-gato-1235838863/
  4. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look to me like there are any hidden gems here… some of these are a little harder to find, but I would say the issues here are only really worth anything in very high grade (say, 9.0 and up). Even then, I’m not sure there’s anything here that would go for more than $5 or $10. The key things to watch for are the 40 cent issues dated August through December of 1980, 40 cent variants from January of 1981 and 75 cent Canadian price variants.
  5. Did you forget where we are?
  6. Me too… Ross is seriously channeling his inner Barks on that cover.
  7. I know we’re going in circles on this discussion, but the modern market is strong right now. It’s just not the same stuff that’s selling today that was selling two to three years ago.
  8. This was posted over in the Dave Stevens thread, and I thought it might be of interest here… a strong price for a Hughes rarity: https://www.ebay.com/itm/295925945860?itmmeta=01HPWX7F0DG28X0P2WMM1REX13&hash=item44e68f9604%3Ag%3AK4QAAOSwsbdk~frT&itmprp=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4A3dMr%2F0s33HmVq2pCjuWsLz3dIcJO8v1dRNrH1mO%2BMSrgEtXl1o6YDF%2BfmV5kcDZaJom8P%2FnmQx%2Bj6ffELGERjqwZ6tzhxhrbVC8%2FBiBm8qKgyuqejdD6q9xRoOofz36orDSpYZsVhNEMaUwul3O4rO2nSQpbF6K%2Beb6TtQRPSlnSSHBJtZp0u4LjNRbyjDOaHtI%2FQcCCkAwC%2FUmKs--uQXnkXDXlFZOmjRvXQmJqQLYwD%2FfJ30iW2f%2FCetvQ6T5ejfmGOxWnNfl9zSEa605k4qcEVy3zelXSntsOzlQeWg|tkp%3ABk9SR6LwnZ23Yw&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&campid=5338116315&customid=CGCForum&toolid=10001&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0
  9. Forget CVA stickers - here's a business opportunity for someone. @comicwiz let me know if you're looking for venture capital!
  10. This all makes sense to me, but I don’t think the bank that owned the ATM would claim trademark infringement.
  11. How about the DC Whitman variant UPC boxes? these may be the very first time a "creative" option was used...
  12. This makes sense, but its seems to me that the crux of this case is different, and that the books ended up in CGC cases because of CGC's systemic failure to inspect the swapped books in the inner wells. So it's sort of like having Starbucks manufacture the Charbucks cups with the similar label, and then ship them to their competitors. Starbucks - and CGC - have become a step in the process that brings the bogus product to market. I would think this makes it more difficult to claim retroactively that they suffered damages, given they were part of the product creation process.
  13. Man-Thing and Frankenstein both appear is Monsters Unleashed #5, #8 and #9 (and #5 also as a werewolf, though not WWBN). However, they are all solo appearances in separate stories.
  14. I quite liked Chiaroscuro, but would otherwise agree. Can you imagine any other imprint taking those kinds of chances, though? Even when it didn’t work, it was madly inventive.
  15. I loved them, especially Sandman, Hellblazer and Books of Magic. Later Vertigo stuff was also amazing (Scalped, Y, Unwritten). Vertigo’s decline and disappearance has left a huge hole in the industry.
  16. I collected this one when it first came out, and liked it… I remember when I got a 98% on my final high school English exam, in part for an on-the-spur-of-the-moment essay where I quoted “contemporary writer Jack Kirby” with the aphorism “victory is sacrifice” from this series. I’m pretty sure Mrs. Wakelin, my English teacher, would have failed me if she knew I was quoting comic books on the final…
  17. Miss Fury #1 was cover dated "Winter 1942" and was likely released in the first half of December 1942. However, Terry Toons #1 was cover dated "October 1942" and likely released in July of 1942.
  18. Eclipse Comics published all of its 3-D comics in very limited editions, typically about 100 copies, for the small portion of the population that is physically unable to see 3-D images. If I recall correctly, Eclipse editor cat yronwoode suffered form this condition, so they made a point of offering these by mail order. These are all extremely rare. The Miracleman 2-D edition is well known within Miracleman circle, and can costs thousands. Others are less well known, but believe me, the Stevens collectors have been watching for these for years now...
  19. Some people think this Pizzazz issue is a slam on Sgt Pepper after the Marvel Super Special deal fell apart.
  20. Marvel Super Special #7 was going to be an adaptation of the Sgt. Pepper movie, but the deal fell apart and the issue was never published - at least not in English. Foreign editions were released in France, French-speaking Canada, the Netherlands and Japan (and possibly more?) and are sought after by some Marvel collectors.
  21. Yes, #4 with the Beatles bio is unauthorized, but #7 (the adaptation of the Sgt. Pepper film) was licensed, though (sadly) never published in the U.S.
  22. First appearance of Chewie the Flerken.
  23. Logan's Run (January 1977), The Deep (June 1977) and Island of Dr. Moreau (October 1977) are also in this timeframe. There's also Marvel Movie Premiere #1 (The Land That Time Forgot) in October of 1975.
