  1. I picked this one up the other day... These were a landmine awareness giveaway form UNICEF in Bosnia, and most are found in Serbocroatian, Albanian, etc. The story is that the English language version is quite rare, and was distributed only to military officers for proofreading... This seems rather dubious to me, as a proof would be fine for proofreading, rather than a final printed edition. Also, they don't speak Albanian in Bosnia. Does anyone know the real story on these?
  2. The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. By Neal Stephenson. it's nowhere near his best, but he always amazes.
  3. Actually, it's Dutch... published in Haarlem (as seen on the indicia page) and distributed in both the Netherlands and Belgium (from cover prices).
  4. I anxiously await the more erudite and sophisticated levels of humour that you plan to bring to the boards.
  5. My recollection is Micronauts, Kazar and Moon Knight. I think Dazzler continued with newsstand distribution...
  6. Yes, it's a high price, but c'mon... free shipping!
  7. I always figured there must be a treasure trove of undiscovered gems in this series, like key artists, anti-communist propaganda, unintended double entendres, etc. But I wouldn't want to be the one who has to wade through 500 issues of this stuff to find it...
  8. I've always wanted a set, but I have no insights into the value. I suspect demand would be fairly high...
  9. This is my story, too... early follower getting great deals, and cheap shipping, but later swamped by the crowds, so I don't buy much from him anymore. My problem is his success, though, so good on him... The other tactic of Peter's I would note is he offers small groups of similar titles in each auction. He doesn't list a single copy of Superman for sale, and he doesn't list 400 issues of Superman for sale... it's consistently 25-30 books with great combined shipping offers, so he never cannibalizes his own market.
  10. And the moral of the story is that, on the off chance you look up somebody's ebay user name on Instagram, it doesn't mean they're a young girl in Europe trying to scam comics from you. At least, not most of the time.
  11. Marvel Super-Heroes Superman Family Korak Tarzan
  12. This is impressive... thanks for sharing!
  13. That Canary cover is one of my favourites.
  14. I think Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles may be a more apt comparison... both were small indie books with surprising breakout success. And there's been plenty of times since 1984 that TMNT (as a "property") has been on life support...
  15. Of course, now that you've posted all the details here, we can fill your inbox with lowball offers... Now I'm off to ebay to send you an offer for £16. I think you've invented a new auction format.
  16. If you can't beat them, join them. "Unread" is not a grade, but it does tell me something about the history of a book. it used to be that things like "white pages" and "never been pressed" were odd things to say... now, they're standard language. A healthy hobby is one that continues to evolve.
  17. My understanding is that this is possibility based on how the "Hasbroverse" rolls out... Gi Joe, Transformers, ROM, Visionaries, MASK and Micronauts. I haven't seen any updates recently though...
  18. I found of handful of Image newsstands yesterday... I assume these ones are a little more obscure, and there's a nice Jim Lee cover.
  19. And the Man of Steel series as well (although I assume you knew): Has anyone made a comprehensive list of the Silver Editions?
  20. I have a high grade copy of this tucked away somewhere. A buck and a memory will get me a cup of coffee, but I'm about 80% sure that this book came from a 10-pack of DC Comics that was given to me by a business partner around 1993. I do remember that one book in the pack was Flash #94 (2nd print) - which has a cover price - but I think this was another. File this one away as "possible" rather than "confirmed" though... i have a very large collection, and remembering one book from 25+ years ago is definitely problematic.
  21. This is me, too... I remember when I would scour the bins for dollar books like Catwoman, Wonder Woman and Zatanna with AH covers. When those dried up, I moved on to things like Serenity, Rose and Thorn, and Tomb Raider, then Lady Rawhide, Vampi, and Légionnaires. Now it's Maze Agency, Valor and Classic X-men. These have all pretty much dried up, and even the drekkiest is $80-$100 stabbed in 9.8. Will this spread as far as Justice League? Hard to say, but nothing with AH surprises me anymore.
  22. Every number 10 is the equivalent of a freshly-printed $20 bill. If you have such easy access to them, they're a ready sale on ebay.
  23. I'm not sure there's a reason per se... it just never got in to the Guide in the first place. Maybe in the beginning, it seemed too much like a newsletter. Although FOOM and Amazing World of DC Comics are in the OSPG, a lot of others aren't. Once the Marvel Age series ended, it kind of fell off the radar. Now I think the growing interest in Copper titles, and in first appearances, and the (admittedly small) group that seeks first "mentions" of key characters are all combining to ignite interest.
  24. It's been decades since I read it, but I remember Super Team Family #11 through #15 to be great stories...
