  1. If its not a spec book, it takes a while for it to be noticed here. People slept on this one. This book is getting lots of comments and attention elsewhere. It is unlike anything else on the market and it is definitely at the top of my read stack.

I think it is the reverse. There was too much spec for #1 which resulted in the massive drop off for #2 and beyond. I think it was CBT who suggested that the drop off between #1 and #2 is a proxy for spec's play.

  2. No. I said the panels that show the team formation lead directly into that splash of the new team. If that splash was just an advertisement and the epilogue had nothing to do with the 2008 GOTG then I would agree with you.

The combination of those panels, Warlock's comments and an actual splash of the team = first appearance.

What you saying sound rather convoulted for a first appearance. I believe the below is the page u r referring to? Doesn't look like a first appearance to me. They are not even together!

Relative to this, GOTG#1 is just more obvious. Cover appearance, team uniforms and even a name. What else do you need for a first appearance?

  3. [This is great but odd at the same time, this comic is not even the first appearance of the team. Annihilation Conquest 6 holds that honor.

I think this is a common misconception. The team didn't really come together at AC #6.

I have laid it out in more details here with actual screenshots.

Basically, there were 2 teams in AC #6. Half of the GOTG is in one team (Starlord, Racoon and Groot, together with Mantis and Bug) while the rest is in the other (Gamora, Drax and Warlock). There was no team structure present at all in this issue.

  4. What are the signals to say that this book might not be as valuable in the secondary market as everyone says?

For example, the series is at #10 and we are still seeing declining print numbers?

Or at #12 and the regular #1 still selling around cover?

  5. Not sure why this keeps coming up.

This world CAN handle both Saga AND EoW

They are not the same, and we can all prefer which one we like.

Yes of course but since there are always folks saying this is the next Saga, I thought it will be interesting to compare them, be it sales or reviews or other stuff that might pop up.

Nobody says, for example, that Todd or Clone or Five ghosts is the next Saga which is why no comparison was done.

  6. I like Hickman and Eow but was surprised to find that at comic roundups, overall review still prefers Saga than EoW. I guess this is understandably since not everyone prefers the world building and long form story telling that Hickman likes to do.

  7.

let's stop worry about the price. can we get back to discuss the story and art?

there is so much dedication, Frank is only writer that would spend the time drop in the forum talk to us. I'll continue to read as long as they are making the book.

+1, although it is hard to repeat how good the story and artbook is without sounding like a broken record. Maybe my vocab is limited hm

As for Frank, it is so true that he actually spends time to interact with fans (like Ken from Todd). I wonder why more creators don't bother to come to interact with their potential readers here.

  8. How about the regular #1? Any chance of it selling above $10?

You mean like the five #1s this seller blew out 4 days ago at best offer with a $12.99 listing and $3.00 shipping?

I wish this was the norm but I am seeing lots of sold prices at way below what you posted.

This is something I don't quite get.

There is a lot of people reading and liking this series (myself included)

There isn't a lot of hoarding like EoW.

    Print run has been healthy.

So, shouldn't we see a healthy growth in secondary prices, rather than this dip that we are seeing?

Maybe it is the 3D covers hm
