  1. I am only assuming that it was Cracked. I went through the Mad already and didn't find any. I tried that Cracked database and have gone through most of them and nothing. Do remember it could have been a Giant size or King size Special. A local comic shop just sold all their copies before I could go through and check all the back covers. He had most of the run from the time period that I was looking for. I have tried Ebay as well with some listings that have back cover shots, still no luck. I will keep trying. Thanks for the input.
  2. Here is the picture of the magazine. Can anyone help or recognize this back cover
  3. Touche! I will try to get one tomorrow. Thanks for the help!
  4. I am looking for a Cracked Magazine and need some help. I think the magazine was a Cracked magazine. I don't think it was a copy of MAD. The circa I am looking for is late seventies up until early eighties. The book I am looking for has a photo of real life gorilla on the back cover. That is all I have to go on. The reason I ask, I stumbled upon a picture of me and my late brother and he is holding a magazine and you only see the picture of the back cover. I will try to post a picture of it, but it is not that clear....plus I look like a geek . I would appreciate any help. Thanks Alex

  7. This is a beautiful presenting copy for the grade. Congratulations Twisty!
  8. Very interesting. I know The Showcase 4 has caught up on some grades dollar for dollar but I cannot see it sustain this trend. I hope it does because of love Showcase 4 and Af15. And seeing that the Flash storyline in the DC reboot a couple weeks ago taking center stage it might open the book up to a new generation.

  10. .another example of a book that presents exceedingly well in the slab, irrespective of the "PQ" on the label. -J. +1 It does look nice in the slab.
  11. I was surprised on this finish. It was higher then I thought with brittle pages. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Showcase-4-CGC-1-8-B-Origin-1st-Appearance-of-Silver-Age-Flash-Barry-Allen-/391437278980?hash=item5b237adf04:g:TfAAAOSwYmZXFm1T
  12. Truly disturbing if true Very true. And being a fellow Canadian you must feel the pain of paying a premium for getting books slabbed these days. It's just not worth the 30 percent premium because of our low dollar. Im planning on dropping 40+ books at a signing in Boston later this year, started saving now for it and hope for the best when the time comes....I should hope it goes smoothly. If not, I don't think I will be sticking around CGC afterwards. Good luck

  14. I just received some books back from Sarasota today. I sent in 7 Wolverine Ltd. #1's and a few other Canadian price variants. I was hoping even with the tough grading as of late, at least 3 or 4 to be graded at least a 9.8. The Wolverines graded 6 copies at 9.6 and one copy at a 9.4. I also had 2 other Canadian price variants books come back labeled incorrectly even though the paperwork that was sent to CGC was labeled as Canadian price variants. I did call them and they said they would re-slab the Canadian variant books if I sent them back. The problem is now I have to resend the books and wait for them to be re-slabbed and sent back. My last three shipments have all had some issues with either wrong size slabs, mislabeled books, or bent corners , warped books because of wrong size inner sleeves. The books are simply not being handled with proper care. I do expect a way higher standard of quality control by CGC. With the prices CGC are charging and the time we are forced to wait, we should not have these type of errors, especially when we are told that the books are being checked at different stages from start to finish. If these type of errors are occurring, how can I trust these same persons to give a proper assigned grade. The current batch I have sent to them will be the last for a while until things improve. Not happy
  15. Beautiful book Dan. This picture looks nicer then the one I saw previously. Congratulations on a beautiful clean book.
  16. This book that sold for $8000 is back for sale. Looks like the original buyer wanted time payments. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Showcase-4-CGC-2-0-Origin-1st-app-of-the-Silver-Age-Flash-KEY-ISSUE-L-K-/222074599193?hash=item33b4ad7719:g:g8UAAOSwxvxW7b6P
  17. Congrats on getting a sweet copy of the Action 1 of the war comics genre. 83 is a special key- a first appearance that was literally "years in the making." I remember getting my copy and thinking just how important the Rock is to the history of the comic book. It's wonderful that this book has found its rightful place among the greatest SA keys. 83 also happens to be the scarcest top 20 key book- not a book that a collector can find with ease. A recent thread raised the question concerning where to start collecting war books? It starts and ends with Our Army at War 83... Best, John Thank you John
  18. Sweet book! Congrats on the grade! Thanks Rob Its just like your copy....well if I took my 1.5 x 5 it would be a 7.5 You have a sweet book there Rob, never let go.
  19. My copy just came in and I was shocked by the grade. I am happier then a pig in The guys on the boards said it would be a 1.0 and it came back ... If I would have know I would have had the bad boy pressed I found this one in the wild, all taped up and unwanted. I didn't even look at the sticker price and went to the till and bought it.
  20. Jerry communicated quickly and paid without even being asked. A great boardie to deal with and I hope we can do another deal in the future. 5 star transaction. Thanks Jerry Alex
  21. Can you show us some interior scans please? 095 prefix serial numbers are tight books. I've got a 3.5 ASM 1 that is an 095, same story. That's a NICE looking 3.0.
