  1. Captain Marvel 25 in VF/NM currently @ $15+ & 23 watchers.

House of Secrets #96 NM currently @ $30 & 13 watchers. That's a lot of horror comic lovers.

Amazing Spider-Man #134 VF/NM currently $89 & a single bid. I'm just always a bit shocked that this particular book sells for such a premium.

And Nova #1 ranks as #10 Most Popular Search Terms in the Bronze Age on eBay. :ohnoez:

ASM #135 - 2nd appearance of The Punisher, classic cover, black cover, always tough in high grade

  2. Philly hasn't has 2 million people since The Flyers last Stanley cup parade in 1975 but of course I see it as a major city, I live here

Nationally we're perceived as the hicks between NY and DC

It's not seen as a major city worth going to when it comes to conventions or touring bands anymore. Even the "Philly" record show and "Philly" annual big sports memorabilia show is in Valley Forge, a good 45 minutes away.

  3. Any opinions concerning the early Thanos appearances in Captain Marvel and Warlock? Prices and activity seem to be rising slowly on Ebay. I'm thinking prices will increase dramatically as AV2 nears. These also seem pretty hard to find in conditions above Fine.

My opinion is that your a little late for buying Captain Marvel #25 to 33 as those books have already shot up in price. Marvel-Two-In-One Annual #2 is also going crazy. The Warlock books are JUST starting to go bananas but I think that's just because they are hard to find in HG and people recognize how awesome they are 40 some years later.

    +1000

Starlin's Warlock run is one of the timeless Marvel classics. I feel bad for Adam and his tortured soul every time I read that series.

People who haven't read them have no idea what they're missing

  4. No offense, but I'd rather have a gradual build up, and audience ever growing as opposed to a huge "launch" that utterly fails. We shall see how EOW does, hopefully it'll be well written. But my extra $$ right now is on Bedlam. I reread the five issues last nite, and nothing...and I mean nothing comes close to it in the genre. As Court said in the bedlam thread, it's fine for all to dismiss this book. But sooner or later they'll follow suit. Lets see where they are in a year from now. This book doesn't need a film to help capture readers or the collectors.

What he said. I've gotten quite a few friends into Bedlam who haven't bought a comic in years and now they go to a shop and buy each issue on their own. The writing is way better than Spencer's other recent efforts and Rossmo's chaotic art style pit the madder Red persona perfectly. Nervously awaiting the new artist.

As far as the variants go, it's not like all the Bedlam #1 variants were available at any given shop (like X-Men #1 in the 90's). I think there's some sour grapes that people had to do a bit of hunting on ebay to get them all. Nowhere Men is getting damn close with the exclusive variant covers but I don't hear a lot of moaning since NWM is the flavor of the month on here.

Don't get me wrong, I like the book, but for myself as a read it's still behind Bedlam, Walking Dead, Peter Panzerfaust, Todd, Clone, and Manhattan Projects

  5. There's a shop in the Philly burbs, Willow Grove actually, that started getting wise to what's hot in the speculator world and would put limits on certain books that took off moneywise (though they're not too bright because I snagged a Sixth Gun #1 in their $1 bin). Nowhere Men #3 is a good example. There wasn't a sign up, I tried to buy 5 copies and they said "oh we can't let you have all of those, they're out of print".

Well, the store now had a stack of 20 or so copies of NWM #3 bagged and boarded and priced at $9.99 each which won't be vanishing anytime soon.

They also put a 1 per person limit on the Death Of Robin issue and while they didn't up the price, they still have a buttload of them left.

Will they all gradually sell to people walking in? Maybe. With no limit, or even a 5 per person limit, will they have sold of of them at cover 2 weeks ago and made their immediate money, which is the point of a business? Definitely.

Huge Image day tomorrow! Peter Panzerfaust, Todd, Walking Dead, Nowhere Men, Manhattan Projects

  6. Following Lyria Comic Exchanges advice I scored a really nice raw Captain Marvel 33 for $10 today. Same shop I got a VF Jimmy Olsen 134 for $15 a few weeks before that book exploded. That whole CM Thanos storyline is tough to find in high grade. I had them when I was a kid and we read them to death, just like the Starlin Warlock run. Top quality books for story, art and historical significance.

  7. Go ahead and face palm, I made money of a book that didn't interest me. I'd like nothing more than to have another one to pick up monthly, but it didn't do it for me. I don't like Sagaaaaahhhhh either, not into that type of theme. (I didn't care for Killraven back in the 70's)

You made money selling comics!?!... :applause:

Yes actually, thanks for asking, and a handy profit from a book that was bought at cover. Also made a nice chunk of coin from Jimmy Olsen 134's when it was at its highest, before the speculators that don't know their history figured out that Darkseid is only in one panel. BaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaZINGA!

  8. Go ahead and face palm, I made money of a book that didn't interest me. I'd like nothing more than to have another one to pick up monthly, but it didn't do it for me. I don't like Sagaaaaahhhhh either, not into that type of theme. (I didn't care for Killraven back in the 70's)

  9. Negan is the ultimate baddazz, I'll be so ticked off if they kill him. Every LCS in my area still has the last 8 issues for cover price. Do you think the series has slowed down buyer-wise? I know WD has a way higher print run than Peter Panzerfaust, Nowhere Men and Bedlam which have been selling out around here, but even the secondary market seems to be dead aside from a few select issues.

I'm sure that within a week, Peter Panzerfaust #9 will be selling for more than Walking Dead #9. Thoughts?

  10. I heard a store need me had a full run of 1st print Revival, so I went in. It is disappointing to see stores tripling the cover price for NWM. There were 10-15 copies of #3 left for $10.

I know the store. Last month they had 4 copies left of #2 at cover and wouldn't let me get all 4 (got 2) even though they'd been there a few weeks. 2 days later, one of the 2 copies they wouldn't let me buy was priced at $10. Got it of course and a Revival #1 for $10.

If you want a good laugh, that's where I got Sixth Gun 1-3 from their dollar bin after the news broke

  11. #4 was a great read and I'm enjoying this book more and more.

Nothing compares to its originality, the twists go nowhere you'd expect them to. It's the opposite of Thief Of Thieves for me which gave up on because I found it sluggish the last 4 or 5 issues

  12. It was a pain in the you-know-what to track down all the variant covers (wish it was as easy as all of the WD #100's, which nobody seems to have a problem with), and I still didn't get the NYCC one because I don't care for the cover as much as the others.

For me, it's a book I love and while I may have overpayed a bit for the Detroit one ($30), it's something that will never leave my collection. Like my worthless Omega the Unknowns and Foolkillers, they will always have a place in my long box (*ahem, pun? maybe)

I do have to say, and I'm not alone here, that I'm liking the artwork for the 2nd printings and the variants waaaaay more than the standard 1st prints. I don't know if that's the plan, to use the best pix for the limited runs, but people DO judge a book by its cover, and the 1-3 "normals" have been weaker compared to the 2nd prints

I've been in customizing retirement for a while but I'll be making a kick 8" Mego custom figure of Madder Red for myself, and a Negan, just because.
