  1. Hi Mollie Following my recent post where I've suggested some Silver Age Marvels for points review I'd also like to suggest reviews on a few Bronze Age Marvels. These are: Black Panther #1 (1977) - this book has attracted significant demand arising from the BP movie and related media/ cultural interest. The book is sought after in all grades with current GPA for 9.4 running at $174 and registry points for this grade at 100. This popularity shows no sign of subsiding and so I recommend points are doubled. Captain Marvel #s 26, 28 & 29 - The Jim Starlin run continues to remain very popular with the first, and best, Thanos story arc. Points values on most of the Starlin issues (#s 25 to 34)broadly represent current market values with the exception of these three issues. Registry points for each of these three issues lag significantly behind GPA at the 9.4 grade and I recommend registry points are doubled, and perhaps even tripled in the case of #s 28 & 29. Incredible Hulk #157 - an in demand issue featuring a Rhino appearance. Current GPA for 9.4 is $125 with registry points for this grade at 90. Could probably be increased by 50%. Iron Man #47 - phenomenally popular issue retelling origin with great Barry Smith art. Current GPA for 9.4 is $455 and registry points for this grade are at 150. I recommend points are tripled. Sub-Mariner #50 - another issue which is in high demand featuring first appearance of Namorita. Current GPA for 9.4 is $277 with registry points for this grade at 60. I recommend points are tripled. Thanks for considering. Jon
  2. Hi Mollie I'd be grateful if you could review points values for a few Silver Age Marvels when you get chance. Registry points seem to lag behind current market values on the following books: Daredevil #38 - great Doctor Doom cover and Fantastic Four crossover (the story concludes in FF #73). Current GPA for 9.4 is $575 and Registry points for that grade is 255. I recommend points value is doubled. Daredevil #54 - Spidey cameo and very scarce in higher grades with only 31 copies at 9.4 or better. Current GPA for 9.4 is $309 with Registry points at 150. I recommend points value is doubled. Daredevil #55 - very scarce in higher grades (19 at 9.4 or better and only one copy at 9.8). Top grade copies rarely come to market and always command high prices when they become available. GPA for 9.4 is currently $825 with Registry points at 150. I recommend points value is tripled. Sub-Mariner #22 - story continues from Doctor Strange #183 and concludes in Hulk #126 - a sort of try out for the Defenders! GPA for 9.4 is $175 with Registry points at 96. I recommend points value is increased by 50%. Tales of Suspense #75 - first appearance of Sharon Carter and Batroc. GPA for 9.4 is $460 with Registry points at 330. I recommend points value is increased by between 25% to 50%. Tales of Suspense #79 - great issue with Sub-Mariner crossover in Iron Man story and start of Red Skull Cosmic Cube saga in Cap story. Only 19 copies graded at 9.4 or better. GPA for 9.4 is currently $720 with Registry points for this grade is 420. I recommend points value is increased by at least 50%. Tales of Suspense #94 - first appearance of MODOK. Current GPA for 9.4 is $450 with Registry points for that grade at 300. I recommend points value is increased by 50%. Thor #129 - first appearance of Ares and very scarce in high grade - only 22 copies at 9.4 or better with none at 9.8. GPA for 9.4 is currently $526 with Registry points of 330. I recommend a 50% increase in points value. Thor #134 - first appearance of High Evolutionary. GPA for 9.4 is currently $575 with Registry points value of 280. I recommend points value for this book are doubled. Thor #148 - first appearance of the Wrecker. GPA for 9.4 is $335 with Registry points value for this grade at 220. I recommend points value for this book is increased by 50%. Thor #150 - classic Hela cover. GPA for 9.4 is $450 with Registry points value for this grade at 220. I recommend points value is doubled. Thor 154 - first appearance of Mangog. Current GPA for 9.4 is $350 with Registry points for this grade at 180. I recommend points value is doubled. Thanks for considering. Jon
  3. Hi Lou You'll find this book in the Marvel Silver Age 1st Issues (1965-1969) set. I'm pretty sure it was also in the Marvel Annuals (1962-1982) set but appears to have been removed from there. I agree though that it would make sense to also include it in the Thor (Complete) set. Jon
  4. Could you please add Mister Miracle #4 to the list for review? This is first appearance of Big Barda and in extremely high demand at the moment. GPA for 9.4 is 195 points and current GPA is $695. I would recommend points value on this book is tripled. Thanks for considering. Jon
  5. Hi Mollie Could you add two new sets please: In the Days of the Mob - DC Comics 1971 - just one issue in this set Spirit World - DC Comics 1971 - again just one issue in this set Many thanks. Jon
  6. Hi Could you review a few more Silver Age books when you get chance please: Amazing Spider-man #20 - first appearance of the Scorpion. Points value for 9.4 is 3000 and most recent sale on GPA is $4541. I would recommend a 50% increase on this book Amazing Spider-man #23 - third appearance of the Green Goblin and particularly scarce in high grade with only 24 copies graded at 9.4 and above. Registry for 9.4 is 1800 and most recent GPA is $3000. Again I would recommend a 50% increase. Fantastic Four #13 - first appearance of the Watcher and spectacularly difficult in high grade with only ten copies graded at 9.4 and above. Registry score for 9.4 is 6000 with current GPA at $11353 with a similar differential at 9.2 grade (3000 points against most recent GPA of $6900). I would recommend points value be doubled on this book. Journey into Mystery #91 - like all early Thor JIMs this is very scarce in high grade with only seven copies graded at 9.4 and above with just one 9.6 and no 9.8s. Registry for 9.4 is 2700 with most recent GPA of $3600. The differential at 9.2 grade is more stark with points value of 1350 and most recent GPA of $2500. I would recommend a 50% increase on this book. Tales of Suspense #67 - another book that is very scarce in high grade, particularly for a 1965 book, with just 14 copies at 9.4 or better with a single copy graded at 9.8. Registry for 9.4 is 480 points with most recent GPA for this grade at $695. I would recommend a 50% increase for this book. Many thanks for considering these. Jon
  7. +1. Great job Mollie - we're all indebted to you! Jon
  8. Amazing Spider-man #s 31 and 41 could both do with being reviewed. #31 features first appearances of Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn and Professor Warren (who later becomes the Jackal) while #41 has the first appearance of the Rhino. Both issues are more scarce in high grade than the issues either side of them and Registry points values are well behind GPA in 9.4 grade. Additionally a 9.4 copy of ASM #31 achieved $5500 in the current ComicLink Focused Auction and a 9.4 #41 realised $3900 in their February Featured Auction. I would recommend that points values for these two issues are at least doubled. Thanks for considering. Jon
  9. Thor #225 could do with being reviewed. First appearance of Firelord but Registry points are not significantly different to the numbers around it. I would recommend a tripling in points value to reflect GPA and general market demand for this book. Thanks for considering.
  10. Hello Captain America #168 featuring the first appearance of Helmut Zemo is also in need of a review. Registry points on this book are the same as issues around it but it always sells for considerably more than the surrounding numbers. I would recommend a quadrupling of points for this issue. Thanks for considering. Jon
  11. Couldn't agree more. Silver Age Marvels generally had beautiful compositions often with Shakespearean or Biblical story titles on carefully rendered scrolls by Artie Simek or Sam Rosen. In the 70's, apart from the cluttered, busy, rushed and sloppy covers, we had to suffer an unending series of speech bubbles and blurbs pronouncing "kill", "death", "die". I don't know if it worked for Marvel at the time but it sure doesn't cut it now!
  12. Hello Again. Here are a few more Silver and Bronze books that I think could do with a points adjustment to reflect current trends and recently reported sales on GPA: Amazing Spider-man #3 - first Doctor Octopus who vies with the Green Goblin as Spidey's premier foe. Always commands high prices in auctions and has shown steady increases in price in all grades over the last 12 months. I recommend a points uplift of at least 25% Captain America #s 155 & 156 - featuring the 1950s Captain America. Always very popular and command high prices at auction. I recommend a doubling of points value on both books Doctor Strange #177 - very scarce in higher grades, new costume and black cover. GPA for 9.4 is $ 485 and Registry points for this grade is 195. I recommend a doubling of points value Giant-Size Defenders #3 - first appearance of Korvac. Very popular book with GPA in higher grades considerably outstripping the corresponding Registry points values. I recommend a points uplift of at least 50% Giant-Size Fantastic Four #4 - first appearance of Madrox, the Multiple Man. Very popular and has been selling for high prices for a number of years. GPA for 9.4 is $319 with a Registry points value of 75 for that grade. I recommend a doubling of points value Journey into Mystery #85 - first appearance of Loki. Always an important book but prices appear to have risen exponentially in recent months as demand far outstrips supply. This book could manage a doubling of points value, perhaps even tripling? Marvel Feature (1971) #4 - reintroduction of Ant-Man and first appearance in own strip since 1963. Very popular book with GPA reflecting prices considerably in excess of corresponding Registry points values. I recommend an increase in points of at least 50% Marvel Super-Heroes #12 - first appearance of Marvel's Captain Marvel. Has tended to be overshadowed by #13 in recent times but still a very important book in its own right and it's the first issue of this title. I recommend a 50% increase in points value to reflect demand and underlying GPA for higher grades Strange Tales #s178 & 180 - seminal Starlin issues on the character he is arguably most identified with. #178 is the first Starlin issue and #180 features the first appearance of Gamora. Always great demand for both issues in all grades. I recommend points value for both issues is increased by 50% X-Men #42 - 'death' of Professor X. There has been a huge spike in prices realised for this book in 9.4 and above and the black cover makes it very tough to find higher grades. I recommend points value is doubled As usual, thank you for considering. Jon
  13. Now the glitch in the scoring update has been resolved I agree it makes sense to review points values for Marvel and DC Silver Age keys. A number of these have been adjusted in the last week and others have been put forward by Bomber-Bob and electricprune. In addition to those already mentioned I think it will be timely to review Amazing Fantasy #15 which has taken a massive price hike in all grades in recent years and also Fantastic Four #1 which has been steadily rising in all grades over the last few months. Prices on Strange Tales #110 seemed to of calmed down in recent months but GPA still exceeds Registry points values in higher grades. All three of the books could probably use a 50% increase in points value. Other Silver Age books where current GPA values in higher grades are far in excess of points values include: Amazing Spider-man #50 - first Kingpin - probably merits a 50% increase in points value Amazing Spider-man Annual #1 - first Sinister Six - always great demand for this book in all grades - probably merits a 50% increase in points value Fantastic Four #45 - demand for this book has calmed down in recent months but GPA still far exceeds relative Registry points values - I'd recommend this book is at least doubled Strange Tales #89 - first Fin Fang Foom - demand far exceeds supply of this book and huge increases in prices realised for all grades over the last 12 months - would recommend a tripling of points value Tales to Astonish #62 - first Leader. A 9.2 in the current ComicLink auction achieved $1425. I'd recommend points value is at least doubled A few Bronze Age keys that could use a review are: Amazing Spider-man #101 - big price increases in the last six months and probably merits a doubling in points value Marvel Spotlight #5 - Registry points value in 9.4 is 1500 and most recent GPA in that grade is $3700. I'd suggest an increase of at least 50% is merited Ms. Marvel #1 - lots of high grade copies keep appearing on the census but no reduction in demand and steady increases in price - probably merits a doubling in points value Warlock #1 - regularly achieves strong prices in higher grades - GPA for 9.6 is $675 - I recommend a 50% increase in points value Thanks for considering.
  14. qscomics.com Easy to navigate and plenty of great silver and bronze books.
