  1. They changed from a 4 week schedule to a 6 week schedule a few issues back.

Looks like issue #5 is supposed to come out on April 16th

    Not soon enough.

Issue 4 felt a little slow to me (although it was sad) so hopefully it'll pick back up in issue 5.

Plus, I want more Cheryl/Jason. I know whatever is going on with them is totally taboo but I'm completely in love with that angle.

I wouldn't care if they pushed it back to an 8 week schedule if it meant the stories were longer. The writing has been great, but when half the book is a back-up story . . .

  2. So let's get this straight:

    1) Sue is cradle-robbing Reed.

    2) Sue is white and the oldest of the four.

    3) The Human Torch (Sue's brother) is black.

    4) Ben Grimm is a skinny little guy.

WTF is going on here, a multicultural Twilight retcon?

    Just for arguements sake:

    1) Reed could be a young prodigy

    2) Sue could rob the cradle

    3) Johnny could be her half brother, step brother or adopted

    4) Ben could bulk up with his transformation.

I could deal with most of these changes if the -script and or story are of the highest quality, but all indications are that it's pure mess.

  3. I love theme commissions. There are some awesome ones "out there."

I'd love to see a printed art book for some of these. Sort of like what the 3-Minute Sketchbook Michael Finn did with Hero Initiative a few years ago. Excellent book, you should try to find a copy.

That is an outstanding list, Alex! :applause:

I'm particularly fond of this one and this one, too , unfortunately they weren't around when your list was made. :shy:

  4. Hello all. Here's my newly framed DPS from MARVELS #3 featuring the Fantastic Four's classic battle with Galactus and Silver Surfer (FF #48-50) in the signature painted style of Alex Ross.

Alex Ross painted pages are incredible in person and this DPS was begging to be displayed. I just got the piece framed using a black leatherette matte and silver-accented wood frame to tie with the huge Silver Surfer image and silver car.

I'm thrilled at the result :cloud9:

  5. Cody Schibi's take on the Green Goblin claiming the "Iron" Throne:

What process to you go through when selecting your artists? Haven't heard of many you have chosen and they all have come out so great.

Thanks! Whomever will work the cheapest!!!

Actually, most of them were artists that I have commissioned in the past, so I've been familiar with their work, but some, such as Cody, I just found his work online and thought he might be a good fit. Occasionally I've asked some of the art dealers I know if they may have an artist they represent who would be interested in my theme. That's how Riley Rossmo and Sheldon Vella ended up doing pieces for me. Neither were taking commissions at the time, but both were instantly inspired and came up with very cool pieces. And every now and then, our fellow collectors will suggest an artist to look into. It helps that most of them have been fans of either the books or show as well and I usually give them free reign to pick the character they want to claim the throne. It's been fun!

  6. If you're framing art, museum quality glass is recommended, for storage, a lot of people use portfolios like these from Itoya: Itoya Art Profolio

If you're looking for more art, there's a dealer list in the Original Art Marketplace, as well as members selling pieces. You can also find it on auction sites such as eBay, Comiclink & Heritage.

And most importantly, you should read through this thread for some great advice.

    Good luck!
