  1. What if it comes back a 4.0? Then I am a bit disappointed but still well in the money on it. Everyone that has seen it in hand has said it is very strictly graded and some have said it would possibly hit a 6.0 on a good day. The last person to say that called the upgrade on my old label CGC 4.5 Avengers #4 to a 6.5 correctly so I am hoping he is right again. What do the notes say? Bottom Spine Medium Spine Split Front Cover Moderate Wear All Edges Spine Moderate Wear Breaks Color The spine split is what they likely nailed it on originally. No hidden stains or interior issues so it will be interesting to see how it comes back. The reason I bought it originally was that it looks better than the stated grade. Spine spilt would have been my guess given the grade... I have had some really nice books with amazing eye appeal get hammered for spine splits. Good news is my experience is that they are pretty consistent with this flaw and it is unlikely it will come back lower (again this is just my personal experience). Good luck!

  3. .another example of a book that presents exceedingly well in the slab, irrespective of the "PQ" on the label. -J. it graded a 1.8 due to the pq, not irrespective of it A 1.8 with nice pq that presented that well would have sold for close to 10k (I say that because that's about what I'd pay) 4.0 eye appeal with hidden defect would be my kind of book! Since you chimed in... What would you pay for a 4.0 with a hidden defect? Or an "average" 5.0?
  4. Haven't more than 14 of these surfaced? It felt like more than 14 have been up for sale since this book has been announced. I heard it was the same one 14 times...
  5. I wouldn't slab and sell them as a set unless they were all 9.8 candidates. If the 2 and 7 are, I would slab those and sell them separately. If none of them are, I would do a no reserve and sell them as a lot. -J. Thanks for the advice! I don't do no reserve auctions on eBay, they haven't done well for me in the past. I might toy with the idea of selling them as an auction lot with a low reserve though. Or start the bidding at your reserve price Jerome Hadn't thought of that, thanks!

  7. Boardie Quandary: Complete set of Original Sin (1-8) Dell'Otto covers (NM-NM+]: do I sell as a lot raw, get them slabbed and then sell them individually or hold them for 6-12 months? FYI - this is a duplicate set, my personal copies are all slabbed and safe in my stash.
  8. Last sale for 9.9 was $11k in November, MyComicShop lists one on eBay for $28.5k...seems legit.
  9. Yep, just not online... Found a good number of these in LCSs for a $1-$3 each.
  10. While not a great scenario. Their stock is at the same price it was a year ago. Not exactly the apocalypse. Time to buy!
  11. In the short term the newer shows would fold and even some of the older ones. Some would find new companies to sponsor, but would likely need to change the name due to trademarks. Impact to the market, I am not sure there would be a huge negative impact given how prevalent online transactions have become. The higher end market (books most likely bought or sold in person) might slow until shows pick back up. Either way, Wizard folding is going to be a polarizing subject round these parts...
  12. Touch call with a dark cover and "not so great pics." The bigger question would be: will it still be NM-NM+ after shipping...?
  13. When I stop collecting comics thats when I'll have enough copies. Hopefully not anytime soon Any concern of liquidity when you have so many copies? If you sell them over a longer-period of time, no big deal. If you try to unload them in quick succession then you may sub-optimize your prices. Just curious what your thoughts are that drive you to keep buying AF15s. That's a really good point that you have; if i sell it is in succession i'll take a hit. That's why i make a point of buying at the price i am comfortable with so that when i do need to sell them i'll be ok. This requires studying the market and such. Also i make a point of no marvel chipping when buying. I get a thrill of owning af15s therefore my search will continue. I tried owning other big keys but the thrill wasn't the same. Action 1 and tec27 complete copies are now out reach
  14. TPBs are a much better format to read a comic with this much of an intricate story. I buy them as they are released, but I always find myself reading 2-3 issues back before I start the new one to make sure I am fully connected with what is going on. In two separate cases I have even gone back and read the whole series from the beginning to ensure I make all the connections. It is a great storyline, it keeps you on your toes as a "reader."

  16. Lonzilla seems to be the go-to source for that kind of info. I haven't heard of anything myself. The most recent is that bulletproof black panther #1 cover. -J. I like that one, just not enough to pick it up. I guess I will wait and see when new news pops up.
  17. Any news on upcoming Dell'Otto covers or variants?
  18. This thread is going in an interesting direction...
  19. What you don't get the humor in a person saying their collecting preference is wrong and rubbing salt in wound and yet that same person would tell you that buying a Dell'Otto super rare variant that only 17 exist and that its super rare and the print run is next to zero and only 1 copy is ever for sale and no one else can find these books is better than a TMNT 1? Sorry, the emoticons aren't great communicators. I wasn't disagreeing with you, I was face-palming the fact that people were disparaging the trade, collections and rubbing salt in the wound in general.
