  1. Mail call! Captain Aero Comics #5, Holyoke, May, 1942. World War II cover. Joe Kubert art. 6 universal copies on the CGC census, none higher than a 5.0.
  2. Joker and Luthor are the most enduring GA villains, but my heart tells me Red Skull.
  3. Me too! That's why I tend to keep snarfing them up!
  4. Mail call! Speed Comics #27, Harvey, July, 1943. Nazi WWII cover. 9 universal copies on the census.

  8. "Spurt Hammond" was my nickname in high school.
  9. It was the 80s! 100 bucks a week was all I could afford. $5,500 for a comic was quite a big deal for me back then, even a high grade All Star #3!
  10. Great story! I love the way that all worked out! By coincidence, the only one of my key books I ever bought for cash was my All Star #3. And the owner was nice enough to allow me to pay it over time, $100 a week for 55 weeks. That was a long year!
  11. Martin A. Burstein was a screenwriter from Syracuse. He wrote that Mercury story, as well as stories in Cap 1-10. There's some info here: http://www.supermegamonkey.net/chronocomic/entries/red_raven_comics_1_mercury.shtml
  12. What an accomplishment! The only two runs I ever tried to complete were All Star and More Fun. I was only after the JSA issues, so it was only #3 - 57, but I absolutely remember the feeling when I picked up the last issue I needed to complete the run (although I can't remember what number it was!). Congratulations, and I look forward to seeing all of them.
