  1. I have a little stack of Fiction House coming by slow boat. I will post 'em here when they arrive.
  2. Great grab! This thread needs to be much more active!
  3. Hey! I keep mine in a hamper in the closet under some laundry! And they're worth much more than a million dollars!
  4. One of the later pictures looked to me like pages missing towards the back of the book. I'm not familiar enough with the interior to tell if the correct pages were in the correct places.
  5. You can never go wrong with David Bowie's first cover appearance.
  6. I've never submitted anything from my collection for grading. But I'm actually looking forward to the process whenever I decide to part with them.
  7. Sorting through a couple hundred 1950s DCs this weekend (please ignore the Brave and Bold #28, Justice League #1 and Batman #136 over on the side. They are not 1950s and therefore should be ashamed of themselves for appearing in this group shot).
  8. I didn't get to comic shop at Raleigh like I had hoped, but it was nice to see Harley Yee set up there. I hadn't chatted with Harley since the 90's.
  9. All great pics and great books! Pretty sure many of them have way more than 10 universal on the census, but I'm happy to see them
  10. Looks like a splendid time was had by all. Thanks for sharing!
  11. Don't know if we were around at the same time, but welcome back!
  12. As I said, I have Supes 4 and don't have Action 23. I'm good with Supes 4 being considered the first appearance of Luthor by all!
  13. But story-wise, can we confirm in Action 23 Superman has no idea who Luther is and in Superman 4 he acts like he's met him before?
  14. Well, Superman was a quarterly? at the time. So #4 was the Spring, 1940 issue (covering April, May and June, and expected to be on the stands for three months?). Action was a monthly, so #23 was the April, 1940 issue. I have the #4, don't remember the Luthor story. I don't have the #23. But if Superman doesn't know who Luthor is in #23 (Luthor's introduction), and he knows who he is in Superman #4 (oh, this person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed is back), it's clear that Action #23 was his first appearance and it was just by happenstance that the Spring issue of Superman hit the stand days before the April issue of Action. Just speculating here.
  15. Very cool. So good to hear. I've gone for the past decade, but I'm always too busy to check out the old funny book selection. Since ReedPop bought the show I'm no longer involved. It was a strange feeling not being there while it was happening. Maybe I'll have time to scour for golden age in Raleigh next week.
  16. I was just trying to think who would have a 9.0 or better Marvel 1 lying around other than Mr. Verzyl.
  17. Beautiful! I want one! They will scan it in the slab and send you the scan?
  18. Ha! I stopped actively collecting about 30 years ago. But I kept the majority of my good stuff. I didn't buy any comics until about ten years ago. I stumbled across a pretty nice silver age collection, and I bought it. Since then I have been buying maybe 2 or 3 golden age a year. Until recently. I've been buying a book every month or two!
  19. It's Volume 3 Number 3. How can you resist?
  20. I can't see that happening. I think the convention center in Broward County is limited access for the next few years (construction). Plus, the only reason Florida Supercon was in Fort Lauderdale in the recent past was because the Miami Beach Convention Center was under construction. There is no venue in Broward County large enough for the size Supercon has grown to, unfortunately (even without construction issues). It's in Miami to stay (which is where it always wanted to be).
