  1. That is one heckuva cool book Corey!! Awesome and interior shots are amazing as well!!
  2. I agree!! what a great book!! and yes it was. Speaking of Blue Beetle I made a colossal mistake tonight. I typed in my bid for Mystery Men Comics #7 CGC 1.0 with SB pages and waited till 10 seconds to toss it in. I was at work might i add you so i had set my alarm set in my pocket so I wouldn’t miss it. My insufficiently_thoughtful_person brain tossed in 22 cents (lucky #) at the end of the # which was significantly higher than the winning bid forgetting CL doesn’t accept cents and it came back ERROR wouldn’t take my bid and I didn’t have enough time to submit another!! Pretty upset but I know it was my mistake and I can’t beat myself up because you never know the other bidder may have went higher too. Guess I will never know but if it was a boardie congrats I saved you some money for sure!!
  3. Man oh man I keep missing Jeep Comics #3!!! I’ve been driving a Wrangler for more than 10 yrs now and I my son and I love Dinosaurs!! Jimbo when you find another one let me know brother you always have the cool stuff!!
  4. I totally agree with this and this is also what scares me about more common keys. Books just don’t sell much lower than GPA because someone will buy them to flip or put into their stock. What then happens when all the great dealers that we know and love today in this market decide to hang it up? Will the small time flippers just leave the pool as well if prices start to correct in a different direction because some of this growth wasn’t that healthy? Fun stuff to talk about and contemplate for sure
  5. I think both you fine young gentlemen may have mistook what I was saying which after i reread is understandable. I wasn’t talking as much about the auction houses themselves as much as I was GPA and how it affects future sales. When I stated bid up their own books I meant if they had a copy too not the actual item for sale and how past sales relate to that bid. For example guys let’s say 10 Reglar fellas have a Hulk 181 CGC 9.6. They see one pops up on CLink for sale. I would bet a few of them would look at recent GPA and bid that book up close to what last GPA was essentially keeping the value of their book at the market perceived high or even higher than what they paid when they bought their copy originally. I don’t know anyone that does this and I don’t have the scratch or the time to do things like this myself but I sure bet it happens. For many if they end up with the book oh well they will just take it and place it back up for sale with a small markup. If they get outbid by someone who really wants a Hulk 181 9.6 that doesn’t actually have one then good too especially if it’s on ebay or CC for example because then that sale gets listed on GPA and the book goes up even more at least perceivablely. It ends up being a market where flippers are flipping to flippers and so on and so forth and no one wants to get stuck with the hot potato. That is what I was getting at with the original post but more as it relates to rarer books and GPA. Unless someone wants to hoard a book obviously if there is no sales data on a book then the true market for that copy at that place and time is what you get. Take my Our Flag 5 for example there was no sales data whatsoever when i bought that book at least at my fingertips so I placed the bid I felt comfortable paying for the book and that was that. I wasn’t worried that someone else with an Our Flag 5 was going to bid me up to a certain perceived market value of that makes sense
  6. I open up a bunch of windows and just snap pics of the final sales if I want to keep the data for my personal records and future references. I’ve been meaning to start a book for so long just haven’t gotten around to it. I don’t mind that they don’t post to GPA personally it can work for or against you. In the circumstance you showed looks like the buyer of the 7.5 got a good deal. On the other hand I feel if all sales are made public then the owners of the books just bid them all up to fair market anyways so it’s a revolving door and can create an unhealthy market in the long run. I really only chase after rare books and classic covers so I seemingly am always paying top dollar for my books at least at the time which I don’t mind personally but for the savvy buyer this could work in their favor. It also makes you do a little homework and keep watch of things which I enjoy even if not participating on a particular book. The collecting aspect becomes a bit more fun when there is a bit of homework to be done instead of just always having it spoon fed to us. All that being said I am a long time subscriber to GPA and just love love love it!!! It’s an invaluable tool but only part of the process in helping me decide what bids to place if I want to be a winner of a particular book. And no I don’t think they will submit anytime soon either but what do I know anyways haha!!
  7. absolutely!! These pics are from my previous copy but it’s what i have in Flickr at the moment..Overall it’s no MLJ or anything but The Buckskin double splash is amazing!! Your wish is my command
  8. Agreed and thanks everyone!! A favorite part of this hobby of mine is when I do sell (which isn’t all that often but occasionally I’m not made of money haha) knowing that my books went to a special home where they will be appreciated and bring the same smile they brought to me to the new owner and I know this one did!! We both In Da Club now 50C!! ?
  9. picked up 2 of my favorites as far as TTA and TOS are concerned at my local show yesterday...
  10. After a short stint out I have managed to find myself back in the Super Mystery v3 #2 club. I cracked it out it was a Blue CGC 2.0 Ow-W pages. Thanks to a boardie for this one!!
  11. Wish it were that simple my friend but it is a good point for sure I absolutely agree!! it’s pretty much already unaffordable for some of us mere mortals though. I guess if I was to sell off my entire collection I could there but my collection is chalk full of tough books many of which are much rarer than Tec 31 just not as pricey and those would all be regrets to sell. So just like the saying goes about buying it before it goes up there is also the try not to sell something you will regret selling later and unfortunately the only way for me to touch this book would require sacrifices I am not ready to make at least at this point in my life/collecting career. Tec 31 is THE cover of all covers though so if there ever was a book I would even contemplate doing it for this would probably be it. haha!! I wish brother glwts!!!
  12. I can’t put into words how bad i want this book!!
  13. ? you da man!! I just follow these lower grade books so closely and thought I had my head wrapped around the grades and this one throws me for a loop. We can all agree not all 1.0s are built the same presentation and PQ wise but at least we KNOW they are complete even with some paper loss as seen in the link as well. I have quite a few 1.0s and 1.5s with complete spine splits so it must be the paper loss. I would just like to know what the max is allowed to sneak it into the 1.0 holder. If this was on a wall at a show I would assume the BC was missing or something based on the # (as Timely mentioned as well) So I guess it just all goes back to the buy the book not just the grade and we will have to live with that for now... Now more importantly when do we get to know what the grail is I know i’m not the only one who has this going...
  14. Sooooo...should be a 1.0 ? and your price is VERY reasonable!! again great books bro!!
  15. And Not going to derail this AWESOME thread but just look at this example currently up for auction. What is the major difference? btw got to hold this copy in Cleveland last year thanks to a boardie!! As you can see i am pretty passionate that this Tec 31 should be a 1.0 if you can’t tell!! As a collector of low grade GA Classic covers Please Revisit this policy CGC!! https://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=758969
  16. Agreed and I made these same remarks the other day. This should in a 1.0 holder at the very least as long as it is complete. I know buy the book not the grade but it’s confusing now that CGC is putting more and more complete books in 0.5 holders that for the most part were once reserved for incomplete books.
  17. So glad you got this book BP I was so close to pulling the trigger on that one!! Very cool man!!
  18. HUGE CONGRATS!!! For a short run it sure packs in a gigantic punch of Awesomeness!!
  19. Dude!!! Seriously that is awesome and SUCH a Tough book!! I remember a lower grade 2.0 i think went off on Clink towards the end of 2016. I tossed in a tracker and it brought 9K. This is a very special book and your copy is simply spectacular!!
