The Zap 5 has a story called The Adventures of Fuzzy The Bunny. It’s an adaptation of something Charles Crumb worked on when they were kids. The CGC label for the book even includes Charles as a contributor. Nice pickups.

So it seems Funny Aminals is the book to have right now. I have seen high grade copies listed for thousands. Makes me wonder if I really need 3 copies.

I struggle with how I should display my collection. I have a spinner rack which is great for displaying raw books. The same company that built my rack sells one designed for slabs. I would buy one but I have no room for it. I believe the company is called “spinner rack”. Hope this helps.

They've been hit / miss on underground comix printings since the beginning, not to mention the whole 'the absence of a printing notation equals first printing' convention on the label
I cracked a Zap 2 that I assumed was a first print because of the absence of a printing notation on the label. It wasn’t.

I was shocked nobody took that. One of the best books in the thread.

Apparently, I'm short the scan on this one. Will post it tomorrow morning. You may post a 'take it' pending front cover scan, if you'd like.

- Man From Utopia
- Oversized large magazine size, 1972
- All Rick Griffin gorgeous art
- VF/NM
- $140, includes cost for separate shipping in its own package - US customers only, please
Classic Griffin themes centered on human creation, variance and chance, and religion. Just a bit of very minor color flaking along the spine is responsible for the downgrade from NM or better. The ridges visible on the back cover are not wear, but the textured thick cover stock. Too big for the scanner, the images are photos taken outside in natural sunlight.

I've been a Marvel and DC guy for five decades now, but starting in the '70s did pick up some undergrounds that were thoroughly enjoyable and different reads. While I don't have anything truly exotic and rare, there are a few uncommon books among my collection of about 150. I've finally gotten around to scanning them, in preparation for selling after having already purged nearly all of the comics from the major publishers.
Griffin and Moscoso
Have you decided where you’re going to sell them?

I can’t maintain interest in mainstream (Marvel) books. I finally started shipping them to MCS with the intent of putting all funds raised towards comix and/or original art. I know a number of you collect other genres but is there anyone else here that only collects Underground comix and/or original art?

I always like to inspire people to liberate the comics and comix from the darkness of the long and short box, and bring them into the light! Johnny Bindingseed, I am!
Plus they look so much more visually appealing on a bookshelf vs boxes. The only books I own that I don’t read are CGC slabs. You have inspired me to crack out more books and actually read them.

Is there more you can share on this? I have seen a lot of creative placement of post-it notes there to dissuade prurient interests, I guess. But I am concerned that a good source of undergrounds might be negatively effected by what they started out addressing, ironically.
eBay has decided to ban all sexually explicit material starting in two weeks. They stated that most “adult only” items will not be allowed. I find this disturbing because of the amount of UG books that say adults only or some variation on the cover. There’s more info in a thread in comics general.

I had the pleasure of interacting with and purchasing from Howard Greber in his last couple weeks. I knew nothing of Underground comics at the time but I was drawn towards the books he posted. I claimed quite a few of them including high grade Air Pirates #1 and his original owner copy of Mr Natural 2. All of them were at great prices and he brought the prices down further as a package deal. I inquired if there were any UG books featuring cats. His response was to give me free of charge all of the Fat Freddys cat books. This was the most generous and thoughtful thing anyone in the comics world has ever done for me. I would never sell any of the books I bought from him especially the fat freddys cat books. I even haver them listed in my notes as "Greber copies".
