  1. When is the last time you read a comic ? It seems that covers are becoming as, if not more, popular than stories on the secondary market. Thoughts ?
  2. Pulled this pic off eBay. They do look great together ?
  3. A couple of winners hit the shelves today. Ms Marvel #31 Hans variant with 1st Skunk Girl this book is selling for anywhere from $14 to $20 shipped. The other is Venom #3 The regular cover is about $12 shipped. The is a 1:25 cover that is bringing in the $75 or so ballpark. My favorite cover is the one by SKAN. Typically don't buy store variants but this one stands out and already have a SKAN section in the PC. Either of these books is well worth buying for cover if you can find them. The Ms Marvel is iconic and could similar in sales to the recent Batgirl cover that exploded onto the back issue market on day one. That and the ne character "sounds" like a perfect villain for Squirrel Girl. ?
  4. Ellis spent a lot of time character building in the early issues. It is considerably different than The Authority. No Hitch. No Neary. No widescreen shots. The original Authority led to the Ultimates which led to at the very least the look of the Avengers movie imo. This isn't that. Its more ground level, 007 type of stuff with a few superpowers in the mix. A subtle but strong story.
  5. Agreed and I personally enjoy his books more than Millar or Morrison and I love both of those guy’s stories. You’ll see a lot of familiar faces in this new run. It isn’t as great as The Authority or Stormwatch but its as good or better than anything else I’ve read in recent memory.
  6. This series reads great in runs. It is absolutely fantastic. Reintroducing old favorites with new looks, styles, alliances, and even powers to some degree. Just an incredibly good read. Warren Ellis has written many great stories from Stormwatch, The Authoroty, Planetary, to Transmetrolpolitan. He doesn’t miss a beat with this series. Surprisingly, some of the characters are even more likable than the original versions. If you haven’t read this yet and like old Ellis stuff, get you hands on this run. You will not regret it.
  7. Ms Marvel #1 7th printing has sold for more than $20 a couple of times recently. This looks like the final printing (to date) of this issue. 2nd printing
  8. Ross kills it ! The Artgerm Batman #49 is awesome too. That may be something of a sleeper with so much attention on #50. That said, the Ross covers are PC bound ?
  9. CBSI Batgirl #23B Middleton variant sales You have to love a cover priced variant that is in high demand for reasons other than being limited. Great long term pick and a very well done and informative article.
  10. You got me. That is the proper spacing for the "it's a joke" I like it but when I read it's the next Saga", I thought I must have missed something hahaha
  11. You can order this off the Midtown site now so I bought a few. I think you're more likely to be right than wrong on this one.
  12. Moderns 1. Condition 2. Better get it graded to make sure 3. Condition of the case maintaining the condition. 4.... ?
  13. Kind of does. Definitely looks like a better battle for the Hulk haha
  14. Haha. ...and I'd agree with that. Brubaker's run was one of the best ever. Johns ? JSA, Flash, Lantern, and whatever else he decides to do is just exceptional. The fact that you can buy his JSA run for anywhere from 50 cents to a $1 per book says something about the current views of the market imo. Even with those black background Alex Ross covers in the mix, that run doesn't bring money. It is mind boggling.
  15. Bendis on Ultimate Spider-man, Powers, and some of his independent stuff was a lot of fun. He is sometimes preachy but he has introduced some nice characters in comics imo. I understand that we won't completely agree on who is great in artwork or storytelling. My point was, there are tons of talented writers out there right now. These were just people that I'd read this week that came to mind. It seems regardless of the number of talented people on either side, art is king right now.
  16. Hickman Aaron Bendis Remender Vaughn Cates Lemire King Kirkmanw Johns Taylor ...I could go on. It seems that collectors prefer the cover artist right now. Maybe people who just read comics are switching to digital and the people who want something physical to hold in their hands are art guys. Can't say for sure but art definitely sells for more than stories currently.
  17. If I have a choice between story or cover, give me the story. Still, a nice cover is a plus. I just bought a run of bronze Justice League of America in VG+ to VF as a lot of readers. It jogged my memory that some old covers had little to do with the story inside but they stood out so I bought them as a kid. DC and Marvel own the cover market while occasionally telling a good story. Image and Dark Horse own the story market while sometimes having a standout cover. Based on overall distribution, it seems that cover collectors outnumber people wanting a new story.
  18. Best ever lovin' blue-eyed Thing cover in a long time ? Check Deadpool ? Check Parel ? Check ? Marvel Two in One #6 variant is just a great looking cover and the primary cover ain't half bad either. ??
  19. Isola #1A seems to be selling well. Its early and hard to say if its a blip or a trend but it certainly has potential.
  20. Batgirl #23B is hot before it even hits the shelves. It is a great piece of art and there is buzz just about everywhere.
  21. I think you'll be happy you waited...though not in the order that they came ? You are in for a treat.
  22. Liked issue #1 and will be reading issue #2 this weekend. The art and especially the colors were super nice. The comparison to Monstress is a good one. Its too early to tell if it will be as good as that series but it certainly has potential. ??
  23. Oh yeah. That was a good one. So many for me. Hard to nail every number ?
