  1. Four envelopes sent by H.P. Lovecraft, all in his hand. Three are signed with the return address, one he used a sticker. Two are addressed to Clark Aston Smith, and one each to Howard Wandrei and Robert Barlow. Two have short post-scripts on the reverse.
  2. Cool. I didn't know there were different length versions of the story. Looks like your chapbook is the first publication of the longer version, which means the abridged version is what's in the Arkham House book Genius Loci and Other Tales. In related news, the original Finlay artwork for that story sold recently on Heritage. I bid but lost.
  3. Yeah, I looked at the auction yesterday after I saw Eric's post. I saw that book and just laughed. It's nowhere near F+. VG+ maybe.
  4. I don't have any hard data on the All-Story, Oct 1912, but my sense is it's pretty scarce. My only hesitation from flat out declaring it "scarce" or "rare" is my suspicion that quite a few are locked up in Burroughs collections.
  5. Yep, it's kind of a greatest hits collection. All of the stories appeared in earlier AH CAS collections. There is a 2nd printing from 2003 with a different cover.
  6. Two things come to mind: humidity and rough handling.
  7. Hannes Bok The original art for H.P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow over Innsmouth" from Weird Tales, January 1942.
  8. That first page article 'Rainbow' Called Best First Issue is a review of Sonia Greene's (HPL's future wife) amateur magazine. I believe it lasted only two issues.
  9. Hannes Bok The original art for H.P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow over Innsmouth" from Weird Tales, January 1942.
  10. I've been after them for several years now and have managed to get two. I have some Navy Stories as well. All are very scarce.
  11. Yes, good point on Weird Tales and Planet.
  12. Yes, there have been large increases in high-grade, keys, first appearances, classic covers, and important stories or authors (like HPL). But not much change in your average low grade pulp.

  23. Weird Tales, Aug 1929 1st appearance King Kull by Robert E. Howard. The story, The Shadow Kingdom, is also considered the 1st sword and sorcery story ever. Also, there is a story by Lois Lane.
