  1. It was quite beaten down and dirty before conservation and time was kicking its arse badly so CCS rescued it. Cover and pages cleaned to lighten staining, spine support, staple replacement ,supported centerfold, and pressed. Outside of some small color loss on the right side, its very bright and beautiful now. I often wondered if I shoulda had 'em replace that color loss, but then I guess that'd give me the purple mark of the beast
  2. I'm sooo sorry to hear this happened to you. I can't imagine the emotional roller coaster you must have went through. Is it safe to say that you still scour the marketplace for these stolen gems 'till this day? I know for one, that would have questioned my faith in humanity. A very sad story indeed
  3. I wouldn't argue with you on most points, but Black Cat 50 is really a great image, and CSS 22 has such a tremendous historical value as well as being over the top. Read "10 Cent Plague" and you'll realize how that cover in particular changed the entire history of comics. Oh you'll get no argument from me that those that viewed this on the stands in the 50's were probably shocked, but the art? Well, that is where we'll have to agree to disagree
  4. I know I'm gonna get beat up for these top 9 nominations, but Weird Tales of the Future #8 is a pretty silly amateur art cover Weird Mysteries #5 is an even bigger mystery as to why such a cheesy cover is so popular. Mask 1??? Why?? Mask 2 is by far the better, brighter more artistic cover Mister Mystery 12 .. dumb Mister Mystery 11 ..Just as dumb and it doesn't help have the mystery dude in a little circle on every book. Dynamic #8 would actually be the best cover ever if it weren't for the name "DYNAMIC" at the top. It throws the whole book off Black Cat #50 crappy art Horrific #3 Really? Who drew the cover? a 9 year old? And lastly (this will probably get me banned from the forum) Crime Suspenstories 22.. There are tons of cooler EC covers than that book. I dunno, maybe if it showed guts and nerve endings dangling from her bloody stump?? Then I'd probably dig it more oh! We should start a poll of lamest GA cover books. That'd actually be neat
  5. Was it an overnight package, or a lower tiered service? A package from Germany valued at about 3 grand. Not overnight, but express. USPS is no saint with regards to this either. I've sent things overnight with them and hasn't reached the destination until a few days later. You'd think you'd get a refund since you pay for overnight, but no such luck. Trust me brother, you'll get it. They're still they best players in town
  6. You in customer service? The Delivery sector Honestly we will send freight hundreds of miles out of route. I wish I had the answer, but I'm simply the messenger so to speak
  7. Hell, I work for them and it happened to me once. I believe if memory serves, it was an extra 2 days out in limbo.
  8. Relax, I've worked for them for over a decade. Sometimes packages get rerouted. You'll get it : ) They are they safest shipping solution around
  9. Feel better correcting my English nitwit? Guess you just showed your true character
  10. Don't be so obtuse. Your not a dim guy, so why would you defend this practice. Simply put, they should clearly state before submissions that "Current restoration turnaround is 1-3 years" They're being dishonest by grossly lowballing the timeframe to keep the flow of books coming. I never would have submitted my books had I known.....
  11. They would cease accepting submissions if they really valued their customers and catch up on all the books piling up on the shelves but of course it's all about the flow of the Benjamin's . At the very least they shouldn't be giving false hope. When u have a guy posting here that says his book has been there for 3 years?!!!! We have a serious problem
  12. well, my estimated turnaround times have been extended by months now, so that kinda puts things into perspective a little. I won't bother to complain because I'd rather have quality rather than a rush job, but I hope I don't die before my books are completed
  13. Ummmm, your kidding right??? Please tell me your joking around.
  14. Expect a long wait. My 1 economy book has been sitting at graded for 3 weeks now.
  15. Had my GA graded since last Thursday and still not cased or shipped
  16. religously...now I could kick myself for not scooping up that previous copy on eBay last month
  17. Sold mine on eBay 2 years ago and have regretted it ever since
  18. Just an all around perfect sale to a terrific guy!! He makes this closed knit community what it is today! A pure joy :-)
