  1. That was a close one, I dont feel too bad about it, it would have been one of those purchases I really couldn't afford but just had to have. Great bidding on the winners part, he/she possibly did exactly as you described and went "all in" at the buzzer. I basically did the same thing but was capped at 900.00, still it was very exciting and for a split second it looked like I had won! I would also be curious to see what it would grade at CGC for, could possibly be highest on the census.
  2. I was on the #4 up to 900.00. Sniped in the last millisecond! Congrats to whomever won the auction, that is probably the sweetest #4 for a long time. Seems like FMs are really getting hot....
  3. My copy of FM #1 just arrived. Lots of stress waiting as it was shipped all the way from Germany! Box looked pretty beat up so tense moments unpacking it. Luckily the sender was super dilligent and packed the book between two solid boards inside the box, nice to see. In hand it looks better than the ebay scan, the scuffing is minor and the reader creases are also not terrible. The big surprise was the quality of the interior pages, white to slightly off white, supple and absolutely no chipping! Very happy with the purchase, certainly not a 9.0 book but possibly a 6.5?? Opinions?
  4. That is one beautiful copy! My copy of #1 should be arriving in about a week, absolutely no where near the quality of the one you just scored. Congrats to you! Hey, on a second note, there is issue 3 and 4 on ebay right now that look like very high grade (especialy the 4). Issue 4 has already gone over 500 clams and there is still FIVE days left of bidding! The #3 is over $200. If I hadn't thrown around so much money in the last three months I would be on both of them like white on rice! These are beauties.
  5. Thanks for taking the time to compare with some original issues. I am looking for a #1 and would hate to end up witrh something that was not what iwas sup[posed to be. I noticed from the pictures that the interior appeared correct and the seller confirmed there was no commemoritive notation inside. I guess my biggest concern was that someone had "recovered" a book with the re-issue cover. Sounds like that is not the case if there are others out there with the same cut. On another note, FM hunting has been good with several nice copies arriving lately! Cheers!
  6. Hello, long time lurker here. I am an avid collector of FM mags and have been filling in my collection on Ebay as of late. I wondered if some of the other FM afficianados could look at this ad: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200930381807&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123#ht_315wt_1399 a close look atr the cover suggested to me that this was one of the reprint copies. My reasons are that the reprint copies were slightly larger books and had more space below the "collectors edition" type on the bottom of the page. This required some photoshop work and both the cover subjects hands to lengthen the original picture. I did send a note to the seller inquiring about this, the response was that the interior paper is old style newsprint and the reprint note on the bottom of page 66 was not there, which would indicate original interior at least.. Could someone here compare the ad pic with their copy and confirm or refute this for me? Thanks in advance!
