  1. This is basically the gems of Valiant I'd say are worth grading: Harbinger 1-6 (also 0 if it is pink) Magnus 0,5,12 XO 1, 4 Rai 0-4 Shadowman 1, 8 Solar 3, 10 Eternal Warrior 4 Archer Armstrong 0 other notables: Various gold issues, the fabled bloodshot 0 Platinum, last issues in the series like XO 68, shadowman 43. Also the Armorines 1-4 series is legit and vhtf. then if the Valiant movies and anime become popular we can flood cgc with bloodshot 6,7 archer armstrong 8 etc.. they had like up to 400k print runs.. also dont forget the new modern valiants! maybe the golds are grade worthy?
  2. Im fairly certain the true print run for 1st print solar 10 is more on par with solar 9 and solar 11 which puts it in the 40-60k ballpark. Im just not convinced there are 150k of those floating around.. its just not possible.. and the data for solar 9 and 11 indicate a much lower print run.
  3. Topcitycomics came through guys, he's a good guy. It 2 weeks for him to pay but he finally did. enjoy the FF 52 cgc 6.0! sorry for the delay in posting here. I truly didnt mean to cause drama. I picked that up raw from Dale Roberts years ago..
  4. well, I might have missed someone else's post but looks like Raphael #1 is going to start heating up again. Its the first appearance of Casey Jones and 1st picture of turtles as a team among other things going for it. And Stephen Amell (Green Arrow tv show) has signed up for Casey Jones!! I'd also like to add that finding TMNT 41,42,43,44 (entire Technodrome story invloving Death/crippling of Donatello) is very hard to find as well. I wasn't expecting the sudden spike for the full story but it makes sense given the low print run of these books. I was out bid at $45 for 4 books (41-44)!! and a current bid on 37-44 is already at 56. In fact finding most of that IDW Turtles run 1-44 is much tougher than it should be. I didn't realize the print run was so low. and its really really good. same with the Image turtles run.. so turtles are officially hot folks.
  5. TMNT 44 seems to be holding very steady since it peaked last week. Retailer Incentive is approaching $200. great art, good story. Since we know Don isn't quite dead yet with issue #45 previews, I thought the book would decline but it only got stronger last few days. There was little to no publicity drumming up the event in the issue so the low print run is helping this I imagine. Regardless of Donatello's fate I think its safe to say this book is a huge key for TMNT fans! This book still has room to grow. If for any reason, because it wasn't a gimmick. sold what, 7,000 copies??
  6. Another problem here with Topcitycomics. He stayed up late to snipe and last minute bid but never paid for fantastic four 52 cgc 6.0 where payment was due immediately (an awesome unprssed book that will definitely grade higher) This guy Adrian is a piece of work. seems like a good guy. just seems to over commit on weekly auctions and cant afford any when it comes time to pay up. I dont mind these young guys getting into the hobby last 5 years or so but there is an issue with non paying bidders. in the last 5 years I've had more non paying bidders than the previous 20 years combined. Topcitycomics (adrian) has bought another book from me on auction valued at around $800, the auction only went for $500 as auctions do but I dont mind. That Fantastic four 52 book was $40 4 years ago so go ahead and pay 500 but you better pay. I auction most of my cgc books to see the real value and set the GPA straight because we have a handful of dealers like Sparklecity that have inside bidders falsely raising GPA. Here we are over a week after the auction ended, and topcitycomics still hasnt paid. Because Topcitycomics was a week late paying the last auction he bought it sent me back quite a bit, my bills were late and I had to pay 4 Overdraft fees totaling $150.00 at my bank. I take the responsibility as its my fault for thinking people will pay on time. But then the guy buys another book and still hasnt paid. The recent book he hasnt paid for was to make up for the overdraft fees from the last late payment he made. I mean, why snipe these auctions, sit by the computer till the auction ends to snipe and then decide not to pay for a week. its just disprespectful. so sorry dude, you didnt pay again. the only reason you paid last time was because I complained here. I have children to feed and I take it seriously when you snipe and stay up to bid on an ending auction but decide to never pay for it. its disrespectful. Topcitycomics = bad for the hobby nuff said. meanwhile Im now $650 in the whole, my wife hates my guts. thanks topcitycomcis
  7. who are you?? do you shop at Eides or NDC, Pittsburgh comics, Phantom of the attic or what?? honestly dude, every word you say is complete garbage. some of the guys joke about a character that sounds like you.
  8. edit: buyer came through so ignore my post. thanks guys..
  9. In terms of the pre unity Valiant books, I think it is worth it for flippers and dealers to snag up what they can because all those books have huge potential that can outlast movie or television hype. characters like Master Darque, Archer & Armstrong, and the Harbinger team have lots of potential becoming pop icons in the global multicultural world... characters like Bloodshot and X-O can also work in the mainstream if they are handled with integrity and not pigeon holed into 'copies' of existing characters Iron Man and anti hero Punisher.. very exciting times indeed! I see A&A and Darque being pretty huge a few years down the road. they resonate well..
  10. can't go wrong with Hulk 181. ever. Daredevil #1 is very common about twice as common as X-men #1 and 3 to 4 times as common as the other early 60's keys. also i wouldnt invest in comics based on movies or television shows right now. stick to the tried and true titles and teams that were popular regardless of movie. mainly the top 3: Wolverine Batman Spider-man so Hulk 181 bro... the marvel movie machine will implode in a few years and 10 years form now everything will just be Batman Wolverine and Spider-man out of fear of cramming too muhc 'superhero' down audiences throats. all it takes is a disney flop, will it be Ant MAn or Dr Strange?? eventually these marvel movies will start to flop and the studios will just shrink it down to the top 3 heroes like time always reveals. basically X-men comics sell Spider-man comics sell Batman comics sell everything else basically wont matter
  11. has anyone asked claremont directly this at a convention? what is Claremonts response? edit: beautiful 9.8 's guys...
  12. Walking Dead has made me lots of money last 2 years but anyone who thinks Walking Dead is not a fad needs some history lessons. ren and stimpy #1 X-files #1 (topps low print) Both of these books were at one time for several years (roughly 2-3 years) running, the hottest comic book on the planet. In the mid 90's Topps X-files books were all the craze. collectors sunk hundreds, thousands of dollars into X-files hype given the first few issues had a low print run or so we were told by every dealer from here to long island. we bought up valiant books and X-files like it was going out of style. X-files #1 and #0 actually shot up to over a hundred each. Because X-files was so popular at the time. The most popular sci-fi/suspense show on televesion, and one of the most popular TV shows at the time, many collectors and hoarders thought X-files was bullet proof. I hear the EXACT same comments about Walking Dead today. open up an old Wizard an you can read some of the ridiculous articles/comments about how great and solid investment X-files comics are. I don't think its possible to compare NM 98 to a television show. We have to compare Walking Dead with other television comics. and with what evidence/data we have, it does not look good for walking dead, say 20 years from now. 20 years from now will people remember walking dead? anyone still have thier X-files comics in a sig?
  13. i think you did alright man! this is a great thread to look back on because it shows how strong the hobby has grown last 5 years! take for instance, several members pick of a Hulk 181 in cgc 9.0 for $1,000. At that time most of us assumed the ship had sailed on many bronze keys yet now a Hulk 181 in 9.0 is comfortably selling in the $2,500 range... wowzers thats not bad guys. In fact most of this threads early picks are looking pretty good 5 years later.. as for the next 5 years cant go wrong with X-men #94 GSX#1 Cerebus #1 Hulk #181 Batman Adams keys #232,#251 (honorable mention to 227) edit: i want to throw in ASM 129 as well since it had sucha huge impact at the time on the hobby and still resonates regardless of hype, those books are the foundation of so much we know today.
  14. lost me there.. last i checked, all studios make movies for money.. Fox was just the first to do it successfully for Marvel.
  15. Mockingbird was a breath of fresh hair the show needed! Already I find her the most interesting character. Every time I am about to give up on the show it brings me back in. qft!! a breath of fresh air indeed, but is it, too little too late>?? It says something about a show when a character 'guest appearance' is the most interesting.
  16. Gotham ratings are destroying all the other super hero shows... Gotham is the highest rated Fall debut for FOX in 14 years, and each episode is adding a tick and the network ordered more episodes for season 1 to 22 total! ..looking forward to Hellblazer this friday..
  17. There's a club owner in Toronto that I promised a NM 98 to as a gift the next time I see him. I promised to get him a copy 3 months ago. He tells me he's wanted a copy his entire life. I think he's about 35. He no longer actively collects (he holds what he has), he certainly doesn't speculate. He just wants a copy. There's going to be a lot of people like that. He should have bought a copy when nobody cared about the character. Or wait a few years after the hype dies down and pick up a copy. Buying a copy right now isn't the most financially sound decision to make. People want things when they start to command a premium price. It`s the nature of the beast. Did anybody want Marvel Preview 4 or Sunfire and Big Hero 6 #1 a few years ago when they could have been pulled out of dollar boxes? Soon as they started hitting a high price that`s when they became desired. And I don't dispute that. However, this is exactly why these same speculators will always lose. They are chasing trends and false returns, not books. Had they worked on building a true collection without the hype, they may have actually bought some incredible books at fair prices. These same speculators usually don't even know how to properly analyze the market and use the census to their advantage. u sound like a jaded vet.. have you stopped to think for a moment that prices on New Mutants 98 are high because most of them are going to readers and fans of deadpool ?? $750 shipped (about where NM98 has currently been) for a 9.8 cgc first appearance of a popular top tier Marvel character isn't really a lot of money.. especially in GBP... thats like 300-400 quid.. nothing... I know Batman and X-men are huge overseas. when i watch the current crop of youtube collectors and the passionate readers comic hauls, Deadpool is pretty much one of their favorite collections and characters... and most of these vids predate the current hype by about a year or 2. so like hulk 181 AF15 Daredevil 1 Batman Adventures 12 ASM 129 ASM 300 GSX 1 (all high census numbers) maybe NM 98 is just a really popular book folks around the world want in high grade? (regardless of how many are in the census) A lot of folks have stock in Disney and are pushing their own agenda.. Im starting to see it now..
  18. I dont see it, just checked some pics and a copy in hand and it looks pretty consistent with the appearance of the book.. I still would ask to cancel transaction though.. I don't need to worry myself sick while waiting for post!
  19. It honestly doesnt look trimmed based on the ticks in the page, Ebay has slowly started drying up last few years for truly god deals. Deals are Still there, just a lot more work than it used to be. best deals are found here and dealer sites lately good luck with your book man, for the most part this seller isn't as sketch as he's made out to be. Usually he fully discloses all resto/trim etc.. he has lots of loyal repeat customers. Let us hope they know how to detect resto.. but for what its worth, that book looks clean. If its not restored, you got an awesome deal man! but honestly I wouldn't risk it if I were you..
  20. I've been hearing this for oh.. 6-8 years now.. ..still waiting.. for that $100 correction back down to $50 folks.. come on!!
  21. did you see Days of Future Past? Its freakishly mind blowingly good.. had the same exact movie been put out by Mickey Mouse with a disney name, it would have earned 2billion.. its sad so many disney fanboys still haven't seen this film.. easily the best comic movie ever made by a HUGE MARGIN.. strange too, the x-men days boycott seems exclusively american, as days of future past earned most of its record breaking total Internationally. My point is I don't think Deadpool will have any problems being compelling, entertaining and loads of fun to watch.. If I was a mickey mouse fanboy now, Id be worried that noone seems to care about Gaurdians anymore.. or never really did.. Rocket Racoon isnt a household name. little boys arent flooding playgrounds with rocket racoon toys as disney fanboys here predicted.. the kids went back to Wolverine And Deadpool this is a serious problem for Marvel Disney in the long run and to ignore or simply write off the fact that Marvel Disney has NO modern icons that folks collect EVERYTHING of. ok there is HULK but not much there to really collect. Guadrians has come and gone, all those first appearances are plummeting while Deadpool and Wolverine skyrocket.. I really hope they base the Movie off of Deadpool kills MArvel universe because that is how I feel Deisney is treating my beloved heroes, as cash cows, when ronan was killed (hes immortal btw) o realized that Disney was using marvel as a cash cow and will continue to pump out mediocre ok popcorn flicks making characters like Groot that are nothing like the books.. MAKE MINE FOX
  22. with the spike in NM 98 I suspect we'll see a lot of collectors sell their extra NM 98 9.8's and go after Hulk 181 or ASM 129 this holiday season. Hulk 181 has been moving up fast in low grade recently, to much to ignore. Also High grade hulk 181's have seemed to stabalize this year so that compounded with Wolverine's Death will make hulk 181 fire this holiday season as younger collectors finally can start to afford/trade for other high end books. The interest in Hulk 181 is phenomenal currently and its not even Christmas/post Christmas yet. not as many copies on the market this year. 9.8's should have no problem cruising back up to 15k within a year or so.. (not quite the 20k of early cgc days but still..it will eventually get there again) but seriously,, go check out low grade cgc hulk 181 sold listings, its nuts.. almost 1k in very low grade..
  23. 2 episodes in and it's better than Agents of Shield, imo. the actors that play Gordon, Selina, and penguin are doing a terrific job..
  24. i agree with SpideyFein and Aggiez ! the big 6 seem to be Superman Batman Spider-man Wolverine Harley Quinn Deadpool honorable mention for Hulk.
