  1. I imagine as long as sales hold up to even a reasonable level, this book will continue to be published. Reading interviews prior to release, this seemed like a particular project of love for Lemire, and he seems to have great respect for the co-creator. The quality of this book is far above so much of the market, I can't see it failing to survive, especially with Lemire's name.
  2. I still don't understand what the problem is. What situation did you explain? They allow the purchasing of 2 of each book, which seems like an appropriate amount for a reader/collector. Also, it reads like they are simply upholding their contract with diamond, which clearly gives them an increased discount for doing so. As a reader, I think DCBS provides a great service for those not near to a LCS. I don't understand why so many speculators/resellers get up in arms when they are treated like something other than readers.
  3. Just picked up the first trade for this last week, enjoying what I've read so far. Unfortunately I didn't pull the trigger on buying the floppies prior to the show announcement. I suppose I will wait until the heat from that fades before buying them now.
  4. There is a 2nd Anthology coming in July. I suppose I am hoping for a continuation of the ongoing. However the Rafael seems to have TWO other ongoing books to work on as of now. I can't imagine that's a good sign.
  5. Is this series over? I know there are 11 issues of the "Second Cycle", did the series end there? I've been unable to find any information from either creator about this series' future. I read the first series, most of the spin-offs and the first arc of second cycle, but it's release became very erratic with no press on the title at all. Does anyone know a definite status? This was a book I really enjoyed and Snyder previously said it was his favorite project, so I'm surprised to see it fall by the wayside.
  6. As someone who was considering getting into this series, this will definitely steer me away from picking up the trades and catching up. I really love the art, and the premise seems like a lot of fun, but with uncertainty of the books future I wouldn't want to get invested. Not trying to be negative, I would just like to offer an outside perspective. Certainly wish the best for the creators, but an undefined hiatus is definitely a book killer.
  7. Thanks for the info. If they cant keep up with pacing within the next 6-9 months I will most likely stop picking this up. Maybe I'll pick up the rest when they eventually complete the series. I like to buy single issues to support the creators, even though I prefer to read longer formats. However if nothing can come out with any regularity it kills the serialized format.
  8. First issue was amazing. The quality of this book makes me really hope they take it past 10 issues. But Remender is talented enough to know if something needs to be left as a finished story so if he leaves it at 10 it will surely be a great trip!
  9. Has anyone read or heard anything lately where either creator addressed this books shipping schedule? Have they publicly stated a a target of issues per year or anything? I was really enjoying this book but the worsening delays combined with what is reading like story decompression is really killing it for me.
  10. Great transaction. Shipped on time, arrived packaged very well and securely. Would deal with again.
  11. Agreed. Just like publishers can get upset when you miss deadlines, fans can as well. When you become the creator who can't get books shipped on time, your sales suffer. Recent trends show if you tell people to expect a hiatus, they dont mind. But when you just ship books inconsistently, people stop buying them. I plan to start trade waiting this title, and I know it's making me iffy on investigating his other works. There are just too many excellent books on the market to settle.
  12. The slowing release schedule of this book is really hurting it for me. What was once one of my top two books each month is now falling further down the stack. With such a complex universe, the experience really suffers with a long gap between issues IMO. If creators can't stick to a decent schedule, I think it would be worth releasing in a different format. Maybe releasing trades only? Or maybe if you're only going to do 6 issues a year make them 30ish pages so each piece feels more substantial. I'm more than fine with there being a "catch up" period for creators each year where they take 2-3 months off a year before going back to monthly. However the haphazard release makes me feel like I have to reread several issues each time a new one comes out.
  13. You could ship one to a boardie who enjoys the series also. :waves:
  14. I really love this book, but I think I may start trade waiting it. Some of the single issues can be unsatisfying in a story this big with so many concurrent threads. Although the wait may be really tough.
  15. That piece is amazing. Very unlike anything else on his site, miles away in terms of quality.
  16. Anyone who went to NYCC and didn't take advantage of the chance to get a Kindt commission is doing it wrong. That is amazing. Congratulations on such an amazing gift.
  17. Just got around to reading #1, and do not think I'll be in for the long haul. I am a HUGE Remender fan, and the plot setup for this book did not disappoint. However I will echo the feelings of others in saying the art greatly detracts from the story. In a book about a fantastic world, I am unable to enjoy the sceneary as I can't make it out! The action scenes are so muddled that the a ton itself is lost. I get the artists style, and I enjoy the pinups, but the style does not lend itself to sequential storytelling, especially when illustrating imaginary objects. It really is a shame because I am very interested in the story and Remender trying a new lead archetype. But my eyes literally felt strained after that read.
  18. Been wanting to read this for a while! Love the idea of this thread by the way. Looking forward to jumping in for good reads!
  19. Absolutely incredible! I've not been familiar with his work before, but I'll be doing some studying up on it tonight!
  20. Agreed, and while most likely any CGC Diehards are already members here, the general comic public who maybe only dabbles in CGC books is probably not. Now I would assume they are. This is some bad publicity. When your entire business is reassurance and a pretty case, and you lose the main half of that....... They're just fortunate no real competition has ever emerged.
  21. http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/04/04/when-a-cgcd-comic-goes-from-unrestores-to-restored-and-back-again/ Although I'm sure all interested parties have probably heard about this story by now. Bleeding Cool wanted to make sure too.
  22. Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe was one of the worst things I've ever read. Maybe I just don't like the writer's take on the character but I just felt like there was nothing fun about the series. Sold my run around $50 and couldn't be happier. I don't see the appeal honestly, and I'm a big Deadpool fan.
  23. I wouldnt get too ridiculous or its a wasted opportunity. I would just ask about these employee integrity issues costing them business.
  24. If youre halfway through it and not loving it, Im not sure if you have a soul. Everything ain't for everybody as they say, but the emotional rollercoaster of an adventure should suck anyone in. Its full of relatable, visceral characters that truly are themselves. Easily one of my favorite stories of all time.
