Especially like the ghost rider piece. Its a little busy for black and white, but it has the most fun and interesting points to me. I love your theme though, so many artists have made some really nest additions. I love pieces with what feel like easter eggs, and this theme is primed for that. Enjoy them!

Creator owned work gives the creators complete control. IMO the best stories are creator owned simply because their aren't glass walls everywhere preventing certain story directions. Its like a musician choosing to start a band rather than be a studio musician. As far as delays, I dont mind them. I would much rather wait a little longer for issues than have a rotating creative team.

I would imagine both of these creators have some say in the way they choose to prioritize. However I did notice this month when making my DCBS order that there was no EoW to order. Expected delay or not? The creators I've talked to that do original IPs as well as Big 2 books usually prioritize their Big 2 books. That's their cash cow, and you can't really blame them. There's also the assumption that creator owned readers tend to be more loyal and more willing to wait through delays, whereas Big 2 execs are less patient.

Issue 7 was excellent! I agree that it was different, but I feel like it had some great characterization and the additional backstory was phenominal. So far the pacing has been excellent, I haven't felt like any parts have been the result of decompression. Hickman is also doing a great job of introducing us to this world without giving us a weekly dose of exposition to begin every issue. I truly am hooked on this book. The art is also a 10/10 to me.

Love that Harley! Agreed that the balloons absolutely make that piece. Gives it the personality and flair.

Those Ribic pieces are incredible. So it seems like he works pretty quickly. That is absolutely astounding to see how quickly he can put out multiple pieces like that. He is in my top 5 favorite artists, and I love looking at all of the details and the way he uses color. Thank you for sharing!

Incredible. Did you just pick this up at the con or did you actually get to see him work on this? He is such a master of his craft. I hope to one day own a piece of his.

For superhero stuff, I've actually been enjoying Valiant. Here's to hoping that can last. Dropped the big 2 some time ago other than the odd run that is exceptionally good (Remender's X-Force)

I feel like there were great story beats in there, but it suffered from "event syndrome" so badly. Honestly the only thing that kept me reading for the longest time was the backstory of Monster Girl and Robot. It's a shame because it was one of my favorite books. I feel like this and walking dead have both suffered from their success unfortunately. I disagree. Invincible had longer story arcs like Conquest and the Viltrumite War for sure; however, the series is 1 comic per month to read the "event." They are just story arcs not events, and I'm ok with story arcs. Marvel events have the regular title, a new mini, plus tie ins to every book they publish when they have an event. You have to read extra books to get the story. Nothing like that here. I'm in the camp that the 2nd 1/2 of the series is way better. (thumbs u It may suffer from "Event Syndrome" But they are all self contained, and other than with Wolfman Crossover with issue 57, you never have to buy any other book to get the full story. This is still Kirkman's commentary on comics. He did what would be a 6 to 12 book event at the Big 2 in one issue with the Invincible War. Did it work out perfect? Not really, but it was still just a fun story. Other than the Omni-Man fight most of my favorite stories all lie in the second half (Power Plex in #59, Conquest, Viltrumite War, issue #97 with Bulletproof, and the end of issue #105 was amazing to me) I appreciate that they are self contained, I'm not asserting that Kirkman is milking for money with events. I'm just saying I feel like the book has become very much story driven rather than character driven. I don't feel like many characters are changing or actually evolving due to their experiences. It kind of always ends back at status quo for the title character and those closest to him. I'm not trying to trash the book, it's just not what I am looking for in a book anymore, and I feel like it's Kirkman's style changing a bit as I feel the same character stagnation has been present in TWD as well. Very interesting story ideas, but not enough character for me, and too decompressed too often.

Honestly I feel like it goes downhill from there. Some interesting see stories with supporting cast, but its become decompressed enough to be worthy of a marvel event.

I agree that in this issue and also in #5, character development is taking center stage but the action and plot are fantastic too. This world just keeps growing. Dragotta spoke about doing 50 issues but I would love to see it last longer if they can keep producing material at this high level.. At SDCC he told me they have at least 50 planned. Didn't sound like only 50. This book is only on issue #6. And it's been a great 6. I think we have so many good books out we all want a series NOW. kinda like netflix is doing.. If we got that, it think it wouldn't be so fun. Anticipation can be a good thing. I didn't know that but i love good news. You are right. We need to savor it because when its done, its done and thats no fun In a way, I disagree. Some of my absolute favorite stories have come to an end already. When a creative team sets out to tell a story, I think that's what makes for a great comic. Too much of what we have now are "writing and penciling a book" rather than telling a story. It's the major problem with the big 2 right now. Because with talent like this, if EoW ended at issue 30, but was an amazing story, we would all love it. And then the next thing these guys put out, we would go grab it up. I would rather have a story end than drag out for popularity's sake and start to go downhill.

Issue 6 was AWESOME! The way this series does tense action sequences is some of the best I've ever seen. I have to say, the overall story seems exceptionally "Hickman" in that there are going to be threads of the overarching story teased bit by bit until it all kind of comes together and Hickman grins with satisfaction at how clever it all is. Which I generally enjoy. However I've felt like the series has lacked some character development for it's fairly diverse cast and diverse world. This issue did so much for the series though and has me incredibly excited! I just wish the last page worked out slightly differently. No spoilers, but those of you who read it know what I mean

Anyone else feel like the storytelling gets more and more decompressed as the story goes on? When this series started it had a fairly brisk pace, with slower periods and longer scenes to add emphasis in certain spots. I feel like the arcs have grown more drawn out, and the overall story has been grindingly slow for about a year or two. I feel like I'm always waiting for the next arc. I hate to say it, but I feel like Kirkman's books are falling into the trap that event books usually suffer. Am I alone in this feeling?

That Ottley piece looks awesome! Passed his booth a few times but he always looked unhappy to be there so I decided I would leave him alone.

I'm really enjoying this series so far. The action sequences are fairly unique, and I'm really digging the art direction as a whole. After the first issue the story left me saying "Uhhhhh.... what?" But now it's just building momentum and I'm genuinely interested in this world in a way that new comics usually don't do for me.
