I'll tell ya'll a little story. Years back a co-worker (also a comic book fan) and I each sent in a Hulk 181 to Joe @ CFP be pressed and sent on to CGC to be graded. His book had the mvs cut out and mine was unrestored. We both used my shop as the return shipping address so we could be present to receive and sign for our graded books. Now, his book had a tiny number written in pencil on the cover and mine had a recognizable slight miswrap, so we could tell which book was missing the mvs just by looking at the cover. When we got our package in from CGC some time later, we were shocked to see his 181 come back in a blue holder 8.0 and my unrestored 181 come back in a green label 8.5...turned out the books were accidentally put into each other's holder mine was supposed to be the 8.0 blue and his the 8.5 green. I couldn't understand how this happened as I was under the impression that every book was looked at on its own, without knowing what other books it was sent in with. CGC had us send them back and swapped the books as well as gave us a credit, but imagine if he and I couldn't tell out books apart from the covers or if we hadn't have known each other!

Oh ok, I didn't realize the only count 16 pages (one page has a front and back) even though the page number is 32. I guess I never had a green label other that one that said "Marvel value stamp missing" or "Manufacturing error."
-
The wrong page listed is the really damning thing though, isn't it? I mean, page means page, not leaf (I think I've only seen leafs mentioned when concerning marriage, if I'm not mistaken). But who get recompensed, if anybody? When was it graded originally, out of curiosity? Imo, the label should've read "Wolverine cut out of last panel, page 32" or at the very least "large piece cut out of last page."

Reading about the fate of the foul mouthed little walking frown brightened my day a tiny bit.

Dude, I thought these were pics of you unpacking it and showing the ship job, lol! Not laughing at your situation but at the either naivete or gall (can't decide which) of the seller.

Rant: Graded 9.8's that aren't 9.8's
Mystafo replied to Bluefear's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Question: Is this the only defect visible on the book? I only ask because I, myself, have had books in 9.8 holders that I didn't feel were 9.8 any longer if they had started that way. But these usually had signs in impact with the case (edge dents, corner dents, staples/cover pulled away from rest of book, etc.). If this is the only defect visible you must remember that a 9.8 is not perfect...close maybe, but there is (or should be) something keeping it from being a 9.9 or 10. Just my opinion, of course & ymmv. -
I like it! Great gift!

Do you crack slabs for books staying in your PC?
Mystafo replied to Venomous72's topic in Comics General
I don't feel you can truly know a book your keeping...it's strengths and weaknesses...without getting it out of that slab. Especially after all the stories I've read here over the years as well as my own experiences with mix-ups @ CGC. In addition, I trust my mylar/fullback/archive setup more in terms of keeping more fragile books from de-grading if you'll excuse the pun. -
Lol I hadn't seen that yet...cripes.

Kick open star shaped portals? Dumb. Super strength, durability, flight? Very original. From a completely male free dimension? Too WW like. "Holy Menstruation!" (actual quote) Cringe inside out. Maybe some of this won't be touched on in the MCU but the source material is ridiculous.

This seems really interesting except for the America Chavez character (*flinches due to thunder crack* don't let lord greylocks hear about this)...just reading about her origins/backstory and powers makes me so glad I stopped reading new Marvel stuff after Annihilation. .

Peanut and Coco thought they'd join the puppy (& kitty & birdo) party to say "hi" and send big hugs, Jimmers...our thoughts are with you, good fellow.
