  1. Rare NES game listed for $7,000 almost sells for $100,000 on eBay

A guy almost makes $100k selling his Nintendo game on eBay

Does not look like the original auction actually completed. Winning bidder had triple digit feedback, but its been relisted just today and already back up to $65K+

    Relist

This amazing Gold cart just popped up in better condition and broke $100K with still nearly 6 days left.

It's funny cause the guy had to decrease the buy it now to 65k because of the Gold cart that popped up. Which may also be the reason why the original one wasn't paid for lol

Interesting comment. I did notice allot of retractions on that original auction. As they say timing is everything. I think that Gold one is going allot higher from here.

  3. Anyone have a SS with Harrison Ford's signature? I hear it's pretty damn impossible to get him to sign anything. Like maybe having a Ditko signed AF15?

There are currently 42 SW #1 CGC 9.8 SS slabs in the census. I have never seen a Harrison Ford sig on one of these. At one point, I had a 9.8 that was signed by the entire cast except Ford. In total I have owned eight different 9.8 SS slabs at one point in time or another. And have personally seen another dozen or more of the others that are out there. I am not saying that one definitively does not exist with Ford, just that I have not heard of one.

But if one ever popped up with the entire cast + Ford, that would sell for insane money. The 9.8 signed by cast w/o Ford SS slab fetches in the $1650-$1900 range. As the movie grows closer, that should easily break $2000. But then again, its not like there are allot of these out there anyways.

  4. Variant porn

    star+wars+1+21805+comiclink.jpg

That is an awesome copy that you should take to the grave. What is the high end pool on the .35 copies like these days. Have any high grade copies surfaced in the last couple of years? Have any come up for auction. I know a couple 9.4 s sold in 2009 or 2010 or thereabouts,

If they think 400 exist out of the 1500 printed, how many have been slabbed?

Regarding the #1 35cent variants, there was a brief time when the market was soft for uber expensive slabs due to the state of the economy, etc. I am guessing possibly early 2008 or 2009. But there were two different back to back in less than 3-4 months CGC 9.4 SW #1 35 cent variant listings on CL and both fetched only in the low $4K range. I was so upset that I missed both of those. These will not show up in GPA.

Fast forward to now, there was recently a CGC 9.2 that fetched $6550 on ebay. And a CGC 9.0 in October that fetched somewhere between $6500 - $8995 on a best offer acceptance on ebay. There was also a sale this year for a CGC 9.4 that I want to say was over $10K - that one you should be able to check with GPA because I think it was on ebay.

There are still only two CGC 9.6's in the census. Actually I believe one of those was a cracked out/pressed 9.4. Maybe joeypost can add color on that one. But the 9.6's will not sell for less than $20K+ range easy. Only thing is, those previous prices will not show up on GPA because the last one was on CL.

  5. Has there ever been a CGC 9.9 or a CGC 9.8 that has bucked this trend of the inevitable population census dilution of more coming to surface with ultimate price decline?

In keeping somewhat of the same time frame relevant to this thread and NM #98 some parallel examples I can think of from doing some random searches on this topic are:

Wolverine Limited series #1 CGC 10.0. For many years there was only one in the census and apparently one red label sold in the very early beginning phase of CGC for only a few thousand dollars. Now present day there are three CGC 10.0's. But I suspect it would sell for more than $3K now.

ASM 300 CGC 9.9. Another one forever that had only one in the census. Now present day, there are incredibly ten CGC 9.9's in the census. Does anyone by chance know how much the first sole red label 9.9 fetched years ago vs recent sales which were actually very strong?

Interesting with as much popularity of ASM 300; there is still only one ASM 238 CGC 9.9 (1st hob) in the census after all this time.

  6. This thread has great real-time relevant news with respect to this project. I am not trying to take away from that or what is. But given in my social network I have virtually no one to discuss comic stuff with I just had a random thought when coming across this thread. Maybe it will strike an accord with a few folks, but do any of you think that the lead character from the t.v. show person of interest would have not made a great Batman & Bruce Wayne? Still looking forward to this film and the updates here. Thanks.

Older article, but since POI was created by Jonathan Nolan, still relevent: Batman Analogy Isn't That Far Off

    Thanks for the link.

  8. I go to a Antique/Flea Market every week. They have a bomb arse deli that a slew of people love to eat at.

Then we take a look for about an hour at lunch. I haven't seen anything of interest in quite some time. But last week, a guy had a handfull of MOC 1980s He-man/MOTU figures.

Ended up buying a MOC Kobra Khan figure. Now, it's not the most desirable figure. But it was one of the last MOCs that I need for the collection. Pretty happy with that.

It got me thinking about a different topic.

What vintage toys are SUPER common in the loose state but not in the package? I'm sure there is a cut-off point where this is obvious. But from the 80s up, I'm not sure it's as easy to answer. Let's shy from the foreigns for now.

I'll add a couple to start from the He-man line:

    1. Ram-Man - If you buy a loose collection, there are guaranteed to be 1 or 2. But the MOCs are tough to find. Even tougher when not the Top Toys version.

    2. Man-E-Faces - Very similar to the above. Not as hard in MOC, but still commands a good penny and is quite rare in comparison to the loose numbers.

    Pat

Thanks for sharing. Love MOTU (thumbs u I have an old school MOTU run but all loose but with weapons/accessories at least. However like my comics, I do slab allot of toys as well. I was curious about something based on your lingo; do you mainly collect raw? Was wondering why you referred to those He-Man figures as MOC and not MOSC ((= Mint On Sealed Card)) ? Or in the raw universe for some, is MOC just assumed to be originally factory sealed? I have seen some pretty crazy glue and tape jobs on SW 12 back bubbles and one secret wars figure over the years :screwy:

By the way, major major props for finding a sealed Khan at that flea market. Huge find there. Feel free to post of pic you get around to it.

Regarding your question, with respect to transformers, if you go to ebay on any given day you can find a boat load of loose played with Megatrons. But finding one sealed and AFA graded is a different universe.

  9. Awesome books Krypton! :applause:

Thanks for posting. (thumbs u I love a lot of the covers on the original Marvel run. :cloud9:

(thumbs u I have some more I will try to upload tonight. The original Marvel run is my favorite indeed with respect to cover art.

  10. Here is a righteous bump for you toy folks.

(In case anyone is wondering, AFA looks like they have gotten a little more strict as of late. I have several pieces that I am awaiting to get back and will keep you posted.

Just found this gem as I have been looking years for him. Overall came in at 80 with subs of 80 85 85. There is a tiny bit of edge wear on the front portion top of the box beneath the front flap and the back has no flap crease. This was so close to getting an overall 85.

This is the very first pre-rub edition release from hasbro.)

    Beautiful! :applause:

Thanks (thumbs u Took a very very long time to find a Megs like this one. I was going to post it also in the "this week in your collection thread" as I saw a really sweet SW movie poster in there and was not sure if its for comics only. Hopefully soon have a couple more G1 friends to keep Megatron company.

  11. I just found my Star Wars X-Wing Fighter from way back, like first ever. It is trashed, unfortunately...

    :(

That looks pretty close to how mine is too. Luckily I have a couple more accessories on the wings still lingering around than yours. Its amazing how seeing that piece can bring such powerful memories back. I remember like yesterday pulling off the wrapping paper and busting that box open in less than 3 seconds.
