  1. The short answer (like any other business) is whatever they feel they can make a worthwhile profit on. I think with comics you still have a generation of collectors who aren't so comfortable with the digital age and online transactions - and these are the types more likely to sell to local dealers rather than online forums/auction sites etc. But in today's market, major keys are assets so bigger dealers can just hold them if they don't get the price they want. I can tell you for fact there are several dealers who buy major keys at various auctions and relist them on ebay for higher prices. But they are bidding on those auctions same as non-dealers/collectors - so you have a good idea on the price point - not to mention they need to account for the ebay/paypal fees. I specifically mentioned ebay because based on ID I can confirm it's a dealer. I'm sure this happens on other auction site marketplaces where the seller ID is not exposed.
  2. Hate to be the party pooper here - but forum rules states the items offered here must be forum exclusive - and not posted on ebay.
  3. I've been watching 2.5-3.5 quite closely the past 8 months or so as I've been in the market to buy one. What I have found is a very high percentage of the copies sold on CL and HA end up being posted for sale again very quickly on the same or different platform (hey I've seen that book before!). The price shot up from buyers looking to make a quick flip, and not from what I call "true" market demand. I suppose that's not much different than any other hot Marvel SA key for the past few years, but the price point makes it less liquid.
  4. I really hope the story is in the current time line. Part of the beauty of the MCU is the continual story line. Captain Marvel make sense to retro fit given the (assumed) large role she will play not only in Avengers 4, but going forward as well; not to mention explanation of her great power. As far as the MCU version of BW is concerned I feel enough of her backstory has already been told.
  5. To me describing that very last post credits isn't really a spoiler and should not be hidden (of course the first post credits would be a spoiler) - I really hope nobody who paid to see the movie missed out on it. There were parts of the movie I enjoyed - but overall I thought it was just so-so. The last post credits was definitely one of the better highlights for me.
  6. Saw the movies last night - to sum it up it's a movie that fans of the property might enjoy - but won't be looked upon too favorably by those unfamiliar with it. Hardy had said his favorite 40 minutes were cut and it does seem like there's a lot missing. Not quite as bad as the Bay Transformers, but not much better either. I had no idea Hardy voiced Venom as well and I have to say he did a great job with it.
  7. There's only 35 reviews on RT at the moment (9 yay and 26 nay) - so the score could jump around quite a bit until the number of reviews increases. This movie looked like trouble from the start, just like Dark Phoenix. Problem with non-MCU and DC is the execs just want to slap a label on it and hope it sells. MCU is the only brand where they focus on quality - which is why they can take no name GOTG and turn it into a blockbluster.
  8. I was just curious to know if staple rust would be a defect CGC would mention in the grader notes? Thanks. -A
  9. Agree SS > AM. But Surfer is definitely a tier or two below Spidey/Cap/Hulk. Everyone knows who they are. Outside of video game players, non-comic/Marvel fans will not know Surfer.
  10. Agree - franchises like XMen and F4 are beyond repairable. MCU has already proven they can reboot Spidey in a short time frame without much if any fan backlash - it was in fact the opposite and welcomed. The reality is Fox/Sony/Warner Bros are most concerned about putting dates on the calendar and generating revenue - the quality of the product is far behind that in terms of priority.
  11. Wow I had no idea Media Mail only applied to selective "books". And wasn't aware that only computer games were allowed but not video/console games. Definitely have both sent and received "invalid" types in the past.
  12. I own a 7.0 and have thought about upgrading (with low priority) over the past few months so have been keeping an eye on ebay. For the grades directly below and directly above, they have increased by 50-100% in just the past few months - I believe Infinity War gave it the spike. Of course the best gains to be had are if you got in earlier. But to say the book isn't moving anymore because of "events" is false. The 6.5 grade has doubled on ebay from 325-350 to 650-700 in just 2-3 months. I believe what's happening is as the 8.0 goes to $1500+ and 9.0 goes to $2500+ the 6/7 range is becoming the sweet spot budget wise. You're always going to have some BIN priced way above going rate and eventually everything beneath that gets snapped up - these outrageous BIN's then become the only option for a new group of buyers. There are always second and third wave buyers who buy into the hype (at a higher price). This is essentially how every spike/bubble forms. Now I'm just a collector - and make my investments in other medium. But if the CM movie does well and the character becomes a fan favorite no doubt there will be more room for this book to grow in value.
  13. I think you'll need to purchase this one to find out DOH! didn't read the whole thread yet. GLTWS!
  14. Well the movies are based on source material where the outcomes have already been known for almost 2 decades ago. Don't see how it's a "cop out" when it's staying true to its roots. And you're on a comic book forum after all - there are no consequences here! :)
  15. It would be a ton of hand to hand combat style like we saw in IM2 and CA-WS, and probably be a mix of wrist based weapons - I could dig that. I mean what type of fight is it when the hero shoots laser beams, or controls thunder, or shoots hex bolts at the enemy? If the movie happens just hoping it's in the current timeline of the MCU to move the stories forward. Captain Marvel is an exception because they need to retro-fit her in for Avengers 4. Going back in time a la the Star Wars Story films doesn't have the same excitement as you already know the character's future story arc.
  16. I don't think CGC would be liable if that corner fell off given that it's about to come off as you already stated. Plenty of people have sent in books with covers barely attached and they've become detached before (or perhaps during) grading. The shipping process probably puts more stress on the book than any handling at CGC. Me personally, if I really felt that corner was barely hanging by a thread I'd probably secure it with tape on the inside.
  17. The directors addressed this question - she got away along with others, including the Kronan from Ragnarok, via escape pods (all off screen). Remember Thor tells the Guardians Thanos slaughted half his people so we know not all the Asgardians died.
  18. To be honest I'd be very surprised if the movie follows Nebula's story arc completely. I just don't see the MCU building up Thanos so much and then to so quickly and easily displace him as the big bad. Also that glove would fit right over Nebula's head. But it's certainly setup for her to at the very least have a pivotal action. Captain Marvel will probably fill in some, but obviously not all, of Warlock's shoes.
  19. It's a steal for a "one of a kind Captain America comic book" !
  20. Russo's and Gunn already said Warlock won't be in Avengers 4. The reason was it would take too much time to develop his character during the movie. Obviously you can't just throw in the most powerful characters such as Danvers/Warlock without some back story. It only works for Danvers as she gets her own movie and can be retro fitted in the the MCU. Also the fact they've already teased Warlock would somewhat break the continuity. He's being created to take on the Guardians, and not to save the universe.
  21. Question - how does Thanos survive Stormbreaker? Sure he's not dead yet directly after the strike, and can still perform the snap (you should have gone for the head!). Next he ports out with the space stone and he's back to being in perfect shape. Did he use a stone to heal himself, and if so which/how?
  22. I was gifted a more modern version of the game (withing the past 5 years). The box is open (for my own viewing pleasure) but I refused to open it for play when the item was opened with a larger group The 6 player pieces are: Magneto Helmet Doom Gauntlet Capt's Shield (old style) Eye of Agamotto Hulk Fist (or Thing??? - it has very pebbled look to it) Fantasticar or SHIELD Hellicarrier???
