  1. Thanks for chiming in guys! I will definitely look into thicker cardboard for packing. On my end I was nervous of charging too much for packing/shipping. $1/book seems reasonable. $2-3 seems like it could turn people off. And it currently costs $2+ to mail. Secret drawback to cardstock covers and 50 page comics... Happy to hear you enjoyed it though! It only gets better:) This is where the importance of collectors comes into play...I think most collectors would gladly pay $3 for proper shipping. I wouldn't be too scared about asking that if I were you, especially considering the high quality product you are producing. $3 is pretty standard for 1-2 properly packed books. My 2¢.
  2. Terribly sorry about the damage! Still trying to determine the best way of shipping the book affordably and sturdily. If you could shoot me a PM photo of the damage I'd appreciate it! Suggestions also welcome on the best way to ship it so it doesn't get damaged. Ill try to get a pic to you when I get home. I think possibly a larger bubble envelope would definitely help, and possibly Magazine sized bag/board (I think the one you used was Golden Aged, right?) Also, many people ship between two pieces of cardboard cut slightly larger than the book/bag/board...this tends to make all the difference. All in all, I think the packaging was just a little too tight of a fit. Also, I hope you know I'm only weighing in because I love the book and I'd like to spare you the wrath of any future angry collectors Returns can be a headache. Again, awesome book! My kids are enjoying it at home right now, well done sir!
  3. Got mine in the mail today, very cool art! Unfortunately, the book was damaged along the spine, probably due to the fact that it doesn't really fit in the bag and board it was shipped in I can see this being an issue with collectors. I know the artists primary concern is not collectors, but nonetheless collectors make up a sizable part of the market. May want to consider an alternate means of shipping (thumbs u Cool book though.
  4. Hi Ranx! All I was trying to say was that the goal, first and foremost, was crafting a good story. Whether the book fit nicely with others or was ideal for collectors was not the driving concern(compared to say, a company mass producing 3D covers...). That said, I personally think this is a gorgeous book for collectors! It's a sturdy cardstock cover that won't bend or crumple, nice glossy paper, and it still fits in an existing mass produced bag. Plus it's perfect bound, which from what I understand generally means it's easier to get a higher grade. So I think there are some tradeoffs that work in both directions here:) Yup I think I was just using you to express my discontent and the antipathy towards speculators...I think I have to say that you should never sacrifice the art to interests of the form/syntax...it would be like an accountant throwing away money so that the books looked neater... Well said!
  5. Noooo sir, I believe its +30 (3 year committment from Matt Kindt, if im not mistaken)

  7. Prediction: They will not be filming new episodes. Whatevers in the can will air, but I doubt this makes it a full season. Primetime spots are cut-throat, and this debut was weeeeeak.

  20. Agreed! 14 was great, but....dare I say not as "deep" as I expected for a book focusing on Meru? I'll probably get pounced on for saying that, but its true, I was left feeling like I wanted more Meru background, more detail. All in all, better than 13, and it appears the pacing may be back on track now. really. really. really....excited for #15. All things Lyme!
  21. When I pay $200 for a college German Textbook, price is relative. If you can pay for these overpriced textbooks, you should get a 9.8 of a modern that you love to read. . I just ordered my books for grad school and this post made me laugh out loud. So true. I couldn't help but think what each textbook translated to in terms of comics...but that's another story. Sorry, had to chime in, I'll go back to lurking, this thread has been highly entertaining this weekend.
