  2. Just one book FF 45 (newest copy). $185 $155 This was being sold as a 4.0, but that's charitable. I see it as a 2.0/2.5 at best (which I guess is an ebay 4.0-6.0 ). Still good copy with solid pages & complete.

Buyer covers return shipping. NOTE THAT ALL GRADES ARE MY PERSONAL OPINION. THERE ARE GOOD HIGH RES SCANS AND I'M HAPPY TO SEND MORE. I DON'T GUARANTEE GRADES & RETURNS ARE REALLY DIFFICULT TO DO, SO PLEASE MAKE YOUR OWN OPINION. CGC works in mysterious ways - books that I thought were sure 8.5s come back as 9.4s and others I thought were 9.2s come back as 8.0s... (and the same book re-submitted can come back with a different grade even w/o a press often!)
  4. How do you decide if a book with a popped staple gets a blue or green label? I've seen it go both ways and I'm bewildered...
  5. Funny - I like the newsstand’s aesthetic myself! But to that point, the best example is the 30/35 cent price variants when the price was changing from 25/30. The variants often seem to be forced in and not very nice to look at, yet the rarer ones do fetch more $ IM= iron-man ST= strange tales these are just my thoughts and should be taken with spoonfuls of salt!
  6. My strategy - not that it works for you - is to stick with the newsstands and forget about the 9.8. If you're thinking as an investor, I think that the 9.4 is a good slot and has much more 'room to move' - as this book is breaching $5K it's a bridge too far for most but there is are a lot more potential collectors at the $1-3K book mark. If you want to splurge, get the 9.6 - many times the difference is a coin flip. I prefer newsstands as the supply is much lower especially in higher grade. My gut is that there are probably a few collectors out there with a massive number of some of these books in the direct version - i wouldn't be surprised if someone was bogarting a full long box, selling off a few at a time. (I just checked eBay - it's easier to find 9.6/9.8 directs than 9.4 newsstands... there is one up for auction at comicconnect and one just sold at ha for $2,200 this past weekend) With the saved money, get a 361, 316, 238, and a 344 for starters - or better diversify away from moderns and get the best 14/129 you can or away from ASM perhaps FF52, IM1, ST110, etc (curious to hear what other books people believe should be on this list) (btw, you could also aim to get 9.6s and do a crack, press, re-sub strategy - that's how a lot of 9.8s are born. I believe that this is how the first Hulk 181 9.8 came to be, but why make life so complicated?)
