  1. Stoked! Just caught Saga 1,2, and 3 9.8's signed by fiona on the bay! One step closer to completing the the set. I figured these are the difficult issues to find (other than #5) and rest should be easier to get my paws on. Had to share with you all, because my girlfriend sure as doesn't care. "Why are you buying comics that you can't read?"
  2. I thought so too. Pretty much any raw 9.8 candidate for under $200 is good by me. Even if it turns out to be a 9.6, its still worth it. Plus, I already bought the sellers other copy and having it look beautiful upon arrival, I'm pretty exited to see this one. If this turns out 9.8 like I think it should, It'll complete my blue label east of west set to go with the double signed yellow set (only 1st prints) thats being graded right now. Now I can stop obsessing over this and work on completing my saga set.
  3. Definately worth the price. Hang on to it for six months and you wont be regretting your decision at all. I just won another raw near mint off ebay, http://www.ebay.com/itm/400592655672?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2648 Got this one so I can blue label it. I bought another one off the same seller last month that looked great, so I'm hoping this will be the same. Now I need to stop buying EOW RRP's. 5 should be enough for any man.
  4. Yup, was stoked to snag that forbidden planet 9.9 Still havent heard back from the dude, but I'm assuming its in the bag.
  5. I dont have anywhere near the collection that some people have, but I couldn't pass up the medicom/bandai collab tetsuo, kaneda, and kanedas bike from akira. I've been a huge akira fan since I was about 10 years old, and its partially responsible for getting me into comics in the first place. While these are technically really pimped out action figures and not statues, I figured they'd be okay to share.
  6. I was watching that auction. Was going to bid, but I'd just sent four copies off to nycc to be signed and slabbed. Now that I hear you won it, I'm glad I didnt bid, so everybody can get a bit of RRP love.
  7. Im sure there will be an oversized deluxe hardcover at some point. Image has made them for the walking dead, the luna brothers series girls, and sword. Its only a matter of time.
  8. It is pretty, got mine in the mail yesterday. No extras included, just the first five issues. I do have to say, that I was a bit dissapointed in the binding. Its basically a trade paperback with the outermost cover pages glued to a hardcover exterior. For $8 and issue, I was expecting it to be a sewn binding. Even DC's absolute editionsvdont cost $8 and issue. Not to complain though, I am very glad to have this series in hardcover.
  9. If anyones still looking for an RRP, theres a yellow label that just popped up on ebay. At $700, its not cheap, but I have the feeling thats what the yellow labels will be going for in the coming months.
  10. Thats why I got four done, I knew I was going to be pissed if I only submitted one and it came back 9.6, one of the copies had really light (pencil grey) ink residue, I'm curious how cgc is going to grade that.
  11. Thanks to Beerthirty, I've got four coming back from CGC (eventually). Hopefully they all come back 9.8's. I might put one of those up for sale to help offset the costs, but I'll probly wait 8-12 months to see where this series goes before I decide to do it. But I'm pretty sure three of those bad boys are going up on my wall next to my saga RRP's. I'm going stir crazy waiting though. Somebody should buy those PGX copies on ebay, crack em, and get those beauties into some CGC cases. I cringe every time I see them on ebay.
  12. You are supposed to get them stretched on a wood frame. Any art supply store with a framing department can do it for you for a couple bucks. Or, if you're the do it yourself type, theres tons of easy tutorial video's on youtube like this one. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2Cm6JlY57Zg
  13. +5, morrison did such a good job with his bat epic, it made me fall in love with the charecter all over again. The level of creativity and imagination in his run makes you realize that anything is possible.
  14. I noticed that too. I think alot are probably at cgc getting graded right now, but with how limited this print run was, we probably are going to hit a point where most of the available copies have made their way into collectors hands already. Wonder if thats happened already?
  15. Exactly. You've got to ask yourself; is this a series that people (or you) will remember/care about in 15-20 years? Otherwise, it'll probly slip through the cracks and right into the dollar bin.
  16. I see alot of people talking about what books are "hot", and "flipping" books for profit on here. Was wondering how many of you buy CGC books that you love and want to own and preserve the condition of, versus how many people buy cgc books on speculation that they will be able to sell them for more down the road? Have you ever bought a cgc book that you either dont like or havent read just because Its "hot" right now?
  17. I think it might. Saga didnt really skyrocket until issue 9 or 10. I remember seeing first print #1's at my local shop when I was debating to go with floppies of the first trade paperback. I think east of west has just as good a chance as saga as being the hot book this year. Saga #1 is worth an arm and a leg, and there were something like 37,000 printed. The east of west ghost variant has a printing of 5000, the forbidden planet variant has a print run of 1000, and the rrp has the massively low print run of 200. I think it might take 6 months to a year for us to see the jump in price, but I sincerely think this book is headed for the top. Either way, the important part is thati'm in love with this book, even if its worthless, I'm still going to be stoked to have the whole run in my collection.
  18. I thought saga was my favorite book (it was of last year), but I've found that on that magical wednesdy, Im anticipating reading east of west even more. This is what comics should be.
  19. Nice! Congrats. This is going to be the book to have for this series (other than the rrp). Only 1000 printed. If you think about it, thats just double the print run of the saga RRP. Plus, its my favorite cover so far in the series. Cant wait for mine to get back from cgc.
  20. Does anyne know if the east of west NYCC hardcover collects issues 1-5, or 1-6?
  21. Beerthirty and Nexus, you are both, complete champs and just all around awesome people. I wasn't able to make it to NYCC, and was dissapointed I wasn't going to be able to get my books signed or any of the east of west exclusives. But it worked out after all, beerthirty was generous enough to get my east of west books signed and submitted, Nexus came through with the beautiful comixology exclusive print, and I ended up getting a copy of the hardcover off ebay for $40. You guys, and this board in general, are just awesome people. To know that complete strangers have your back is an amazing feeling. I ended up getting everything wanted to acomplish done at NYCC despite the fact that I wasnt able to make it. Cheers to y'all.
  22. I'd love one. You can private message me I can paypal you shipping costs. Thanks! (Im a rookie and cant seem to find the "I'll take it" icon)
  23. I do think that it's still a bit early to get a good idea of where this RRP's going to settle, pricewise. The book is still building steam, I think that once the series has 12-15 issues under it's belt, we're going to see east of west's RRP rise to the same levels as the saga RRP, maybe even higher considering the lower print run. (I feel like the saga RRP didnt really climb in price until the series was on issue 10 or so). I got four copies of the east of west RRP signed and slabbed, and I'm thinking I'm going to hold on to them all for at least a year and see where this series goes. Either way, I love this series, and if the price tanks and I'm stuck with 4 RRP's, I'll still be stoked to have a seriously pimped out comic wall in my man cave.
  24. That crow sketch is off the chain! Congrats!
