  1. Comics bring the World together!! Many friends help make this come true. And as I was told, Stan the man was staring hard at it and asked if we have another copy available. And this is the one and only in the world currently, and I am proud. Thank you all. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  2. you must have been a very good boy this year that lady luck is taking good care of you. heh. Have my fair share of luck lately with a cgc slab mailed in only an envelope crossing the ocean from US to SEA unharmed without even a scratch too. Wish every mail is like that....

    How many pages

What are the pages of your comics? I'm 40 this year. Been reading and collecting comics leisurely since 5. I'm selling off some undercopies lately and today a potential buyer posted me a question that totally pulled me off the chair and told me I'm not a comic fanatic after all. "How many pages are there in your comics?" I....I am dumbfounded. Not sure why, but a little voice in me was telling me to throw a cake in his face... 5. Another happy customer here, halfway across the globe. heh. Thanks for the multiple layer of protection. Otherwise I might be receiving a box of acrylic flakes. First class seller! Cheers buddy.
  6. Awesome packaging. Imagine it crossed 2 oceans to reach me and it's still in one piece. Highly recommended to serious buyers.
  7. Chris Sims and David Uzumeri are here to take a look at a few of the third stringers who have been proud to Assemble over the years! 8. Slight improvement from last year... We finally see artists being invited over for signature sessions and a company authorised to witness signings for CGC... But of course, we love more of the coplayers and the ladies... Here's 2 of the many... (hope next year would be better) To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 11. I think I experienced the same "impact" before as you, but worse. My shipment received back then was 5 cgc slabs....4 out of the 5 had a corner totally crushed.
  12. You are very right and I remember. Just very difficult to define the term "float" here. You have to see and feel the room and space to understand what you mean. Too bad I only notice this thread after I received your package (i think), either that or I was too tired and lazy. Nevertheless...my condolences for your damage....we always hope the next slab would be better.
  13. no way.... the impact had to be very very great and vigorous to provide that kind of damage! I thought I've seen some rough slabs....now yours is absolutely.....scary. So sorry to hear that happened. Hope the seller is a good fella and listens.
  14. no wait.... Totleben's hand trembled when he ended off the "N" in his signature??? dang....this is hard.... any clue?
  15. gosh...I just love photo hunt.... scratches near the arm of the "thing"?
  16. Today I received a very intelligently wrapped, yet effective parcel. I suppose most of the items used are relatively below average cost? I am not so sure about that but I do know this one survived the journey from USA to Singapore in one piece. Another guide for sellers looking for reference. I did a collage out of the many layers for easier viewing. Thank you AntBrown.
  17. bought 4 slabs from Andrew lately. Friendly, understanding, and another honest seller who doesn't earn off shipping charges. Any buyer located further than US, this seller is safe to buy from.
  18. good to see so many sellers taking time and effort to ensure safe arrival of purchases, cos I know there are still sellers who don't give 2 hoots about our items. As mainly a buyer on the board, I'd like to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart.
  19. Hi All, As one who acquires 90% of his comics collection halfway across the globe, I thank all the sellers and boardies who actually take time to pack my purchases carefully and in detail with protection against any unforeseen damages. You know who you are. I really think this thread is awesome and if every seller packs their comics like Mr.Sig, there won't be war on Earth. (and our wives would be complaining our fingers are spending too much time on cardboards) I actually read from the 1st to the last post and saw no one mentioned these, but if there have been and I double posted, I apologise. I'd just like to share some pointers from some personal heartbreaking experiences: For new sellers shipping out slabs INSULATION Be sure to insulate each slabs. The slightest damage (usually a 2-3cm crack at least) will occur when you think it is ok "as long as I tape the slabs tightly against one another". But remember this, unless you pack it in such a way like what Mr.Sig does, when there is not single inch of space for the slabs to move about in the box during shipment, there will still be a chance for the slabs to move about and slap against one another to cause cracks. 2 simple ways to insulate the slabs without much cost: with a thin cardboard with bubble wraps (1 layer) The main objective here is to prevent the slabs from slapping onto one another during shipment. COMPLACENCY Put yourself in the shoe of the buyer. How would you like to receive your purchases? Accident always happens when the least expected. When you have wrapped a layer horizontally across the slab, and then another vertically across, placed it in a box sprinkled with foam pellets to absorb any impact there could be, and all will be ok. Look carefully again.....you missed the corners. And there is no guarantee that your parcel will not land on the corners during shipment, or a half tonne speaker to "kiss" on that particular corner during shipment. That corner will just be shattered. Trust me, it will. THE LAW OF PHYSICS For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. In another words, do not leave gaps between your books. Especially when you are shipping out a batch of mixed items, such as the following: Possible damage: the slab will break into half with a perfect line parallel to the edge of the raw books. I believe that's how our ancestors break firewood before they built tools from stones and bones. lol These are my 2cents worth and hope it helps the newer sellers in building up confidence in your buyers, and for buyers like myself to have lesser excuse to get naggy. lol
  20. bought a bundle of books at the recent VCC. quality was awesome. once of the rare few who actually bother to send your purchases in clean bags, nicely taped up. wouldn't doubt to buy again. Love, from Singapore.

    CGC DIY

Self acrylicalisation Recently I start buying signed raws. I was once told by an experienced collector - any signed raw with a COA is just vandalised scribbles that depreciate the value of the book. I deviated on the lecture, and found a nice frame to seal it up, DIY style. And it doesn't look half bad! And it's cheaper too. heh. Think I will try selling it and see if it fetches the same dollars as the acrylic ones.... To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  22. Mutants never look this beautiful.... I'm an old fart who never believe in the new way of creating comics. I still love the smell of ink on paper that would turn yellow with time...till I met these 2 babies....I thought to myself that maybe I should evolve with time... What do you think? 23. Excellent follow through. Very patient to run through everything with me, considering I was a rookie buyer from a foreign land. 11 slabs, 11 safe touchdowns. Simply awesome. nuf said.
