  3. Hopefully within the next 12-24 hours or so, I will be listing a bit of a miscellaneous hotch-potch sale of these kind of items; Some CGC SS books (Bronze age horror) inc. a TOMB OF DRAC # 1 signed by Adams. Some very HG cartoon books, a couple of very nice ex-CGC crack-outs Superman books and some misc. Silver age DC raw books. Features of the sale inc. free shipping to anywhere on the raw books.
  4. Hi. I'm thinking of selling off a complete EC back catalogue of reprint books. These were the faithful reprints that were produced in the early 90's in softback annual form. Each issue contains 5 issues of a particular EC issue in its entirety plus covers. I have a lot of these (every individual EC title, every issue) and it would be a lot of work to actually put these up with photos etc. So I would very much appreciate some feedback via pm only as to whether there might be any interest here. If they are something members would be interested in, it would be worth me doing it. We are talking titles like HAUNT OF FEAR, TALES FROM THE CRYPT, VAULT OF HORROR, SHOCK SUSPENSE STORIES, CRIME SUSPENSE STORIES, CRIME PATROL, WAR AGAINST CRIME, FRONTLINE COMBAT, TWO-FISTED TALES, M.D., IMPACT, PANIC, PIRACY etc. I would very much appreciate feedback as to whether to list them. Many thanks. G.
  5. I just wanted to give a shout out to The Boards in general, and endorse what a great online resource this place is. I'll never know for sure but I think I may have averted a disaster. In the last 24 hours I spotted a great book which I really wanted on ebay. The price was high, well high for me, over $450. I approached the seller about flexibility on price and after some negotiation we agreed on a price with shipping of $425. Now I really really want this book however there were two things bothering me. Firstly the nature of the guy's messages. Very reticent, quite terse, one & two word messages, literally. Considering I was doing my best to shove a heap of dollars in his hand, his replies were at best abrupt. I'm not expecting literary prose in messages, but a little bit of basic friendliness and civility especially when you are spending a fair amount of money with someone is not too unreasonable is it? Secondly there was something that bothered me about the ebay handle. I recognised the name but couldn't place it. I racked my brains and tried to remember if I had ever done business with this person before but I had not, yet the name was giving me a bad feeling. About an hour ago I received a message asking if I wanted the book, yes or no? I hadn't paid because of the time difference etc. I replied I would be paying in a few hours, when funds come thru'. This I confess was just a stalling tactic because there was still something niggling at me...and then I found it. I just noticed the guy's name is on the probation list for previous questionable practice. I'm really gutted because I wanted the book but ignoring sound advice/warnings from this Board is asking for trouble. It may well have been the sale would have proceeded without a hitch. I'll never know, but I'm not prepared to take that chance. Thanks to these Boards.
  6. Hi all. I'm going to be listing 4 x pedigree CGC books for sale. Two SPIKE & TYKES HG books inc. a Single Highest graded copy. and Two rarely seen books mid-grade from the RECIL MACON pedigree. Probably listing within the next hour or so.
  7. Not a great pic but this is my first autographed book, signed in London 3 years ago. I like the way Adams' sig blends into the background artwork in the bottom left corner. The book itself is a very decent 4.5
  8. Jeff purchased several books off me, and is a pleasure to do business with. No worries.
  9. Please leave your transaction comments here. Thanks
  10. Could anyone help me with a query please? What would be a reasonable price to pay for a Detective Comics # 55 CGC with White pages in a 4.0 grade? Thanks.
  11. That is pretty cool. 1965, yet they use photo images from the 1940s serial Yes it is most unusual. Batman looks more like a fox than a bat.
  12. Yes , this is true in Marvel's case. In DC the comic books for the UK market were identical. Shipped over to the UK in most cases as ballast on shipping, they were sold in the UK with a Black Thorpe and Porter price stamp in the early sixties. As you say these are still American, but for me I prefer my books unblemished by these variations. It's just my preference. I'm sure there are many who feel the same, and many who feel like you. I just think there are more of us than you, hence I don't see UK pence variants ever surpassing true cents editions in desirabilty or value. Again this is just my
  13. That's never going to happen. American comic books are American not english. Purists will always choose cents copies
  14. Anyone know if DC went for the hat-trick with a Negative Robin story?
  15. Me too. Some great books being posted here by everyone. MGA really did have some brilliant covers!
