  1. One last bump reminder - only 3 days left to pre-order Book 4! This is a 52 page beast of a story, so you really get your money's worth! Midtown has a great price: http://www.midtowncomics.com/store/dp.asp?PRID=FARLAINE+THE+GOBLIN+%234_1460265 And if you buy 3, you should get the Charles Paul Wilson alternate(assuming Midtown honors the split 1:3 mix). Thanks all!
  2. Yeah, I feel like I stole something there. CPW3 does amazing work and it fits SO well with Farlaine! (Might even like his cover more than mine!) Glad to hear a couple of you enjoy the series, and I hope you like this book!
  3. Howdy gang! It's been a while since there was Farlaine news, but there is now! Farlaine the Goblin - Book 4: The Twistlands is now soliciting in July Previews! There is a very cool variant cover by Charles Paul Wilson III that comes mixed in 1:3. Not sure if MidTown is honoring the variant, but the book can be ordered through them: http://www.midtowncomics.com/store/dp.asp?PRID=FARLAINE+THE+GOBLIN+%234_1460265 Diamond code: JUL151594 - ISBN: 9780989005845 Have a great week all! - Farlaine the Goblin
  4. Hopefully early 2015. I'm trucking along on it but it's a bit longer than the other books and I'm a bit OCD with trying to put out the best book I can! A few sneak peek pages and panels are on the Facebook page if you want a tease: https://www.facebook.com/FarlaineTheGoblin Thanks again for the support!
  5. FYI, the first trade paperback of Farlaine the Goblin is now available through farlaine.com and Amazon.com! $13 cover price for 136 pages of gobliny goodness! http://www.amazon.com/Farlaine-Goblin-Books-1-3-Tinklands/dp/0989005836/ If you had been curious but didn't like small, manageable books, this beast is up your alley! Ideal for kids, adults, and goblins!
  6. Thanks guys! Glad you like it and are supporting it:) Working diligently on Book 4 right now, so hopefully you dig it when it finally comes out!
  7. For anyone who was curious, the trade paperback of the first story arc of Farlaine the Goblin is being solicited in Previews this month(June)! You can ask your local comic book shop to order you a copy, or order it online through a place like Mid Town Comics: http://www.midtowncomics.com/store/dp.asp?PRID=FARLAINE+GOBLIN+TP+VOL+01_1354534 It costs $13, runs more than 131+ pages, and will collect Books 1-3 as well as the short story The Tinderlands(first time in print!) For those who love big long strings of numbers, the ISBN is: 978-0-9890058-3-8 I highly encourage everyone to order vast quantities of this book and give them out to friends, family, the postman, random people on the streets, or even talking dolphins, should you know of any(you may need to flip the pages for them if they don't have opposable flippers). Rock on.
  8. Howdy The Authority! The book was always intended to come out in spurts. The first 3 books came out in the fall of 2013, the next 2 in the fall of 2014, the final 2 in the fall of 2015. Hope you enjoyed the first act and are looking forward to the rest! Studio Farlaine
  9. This is the first print. We had about 10 left at the NYCC and CGC picked from there. This one does show the date as 4/13, which is what's listed inside the First Printing(April). The Fire Printing lists September inside, so I'd expect a slabbed book to show 9/13 - but I haven't seen one yet.
  10. I just wanted to give a friendly shout out to the CGC folks, who offered to grade a few copies of our first book for free. Here's one they sent back, in all it's hyperventilating glory.
  11. Was set up in Small Press 1261 after being denied entry to AA. Nice spot though, in sight of Marvel. Stan Lee escaped past my table at one point. The man is always smiling.
  12. Grandmothers and little kids - the target audience!! Now if we can only attract the casual reader puppy dogs our plans for world domination will be complete...
  13. Sorry everyone for the weak shipping! Up until now I'd mainly been shipping to reviewers and people who just wanted to read the books, not collect them, and nobody had mentioned any dings or damage. We'll try to make strides forward to not let this happen again and learn how to pack them properly. Sorry again, and if anyone is really unhappy, please PM me directly. Happy to hear a couple of you liked the book though:)
  14. Thanks for chiming in guys! I will definitely look into thicker cardboard for packing. On my end I was nervous of charging too much for packing/shipping. $1/book seems reasonable. $2-3 seems like it could turn people off. And it currently costs $2+ to mail. Secret drawback to cardstock covers and 50 page comics... Happy to hear you enjoyed it though! It only gets better:)
  15. Terribly sorry about the damage! Still trying to determine the best way of shipping the book affordably and sturdily. If you could shoot me a PM photo of the damage I'd appreciate it! Suggestions also welcome on the best way to ship it so it doesn't get damaged.
  16. Whoa, that is awesome!! If anyone has a picture, please post:)
  17. Glad to hear you're looking forward to it! I will say that #1 is not my favorite...both 2 and 3 are far better stories, and #3 is really when the art gets closer to the covers. But #1 sets things up and gets it rolling...
  18. Hi Ranx! All I was trying to say was that the goal, first and foremost, was crafting a good story. Whether the book fit nicely with others or was ideal for collectors was not the driving concern(compared to say, a company mass producing 3D covers...). That said, I personally think this is a gorgeous book for collectors! It's a sturdy cardstock cover that won't bend or crumple, nice glossy paper, and it still fits in an existing mass produced bag. Plus it's perfect bound, which from what I understand generally means it's easier to get a higher grade. So I think there are some tradeoffs that work in both directions here:)
  19. Hi the blob! Completely understandable! We heard and read a lot of talk about size early on. "It's the Kiss of Death"! Same with B&W. Same with a horizontal format book. But to be honest, we weren't too concerned with things like that on an unknown book; our audience was not the spinner racks at Barnes and Noble:) From day 1 the thinking was that we were making the book for us; that realistically no publisher would touch it and at the end of the day we may be the only people reading it, so it should be what we wanted it to be. A big part of our influence was from old school European books like Asterix and Uncle Scrooge and 4 tiers; all we ended up doing was cutting that in half. And most importantly the goal was to tell a good story - in the format that fits best. Farlaine is a wide character, constantly carrying a tree over his shoulder. Sure, we COULD have crammed him into a vertical format comic, but it would have been at the expense of the storytelling and always cutting parts of him off. And as a fan of art, I thought it looked better to print it a little bigger:) Apologies if it doesn't fit easily on the shelf, but the goal was to tell a good story, not make a good collectible:) Best, Studio Farlaine
  20. We ran into this issue immediately - it fits nicely in magazine sized bags/boards, which in turn fit nicely in a 9x12 envelope. There is some dead space, but it still keeps it safe:) Thanks! Hope you enjoy it! The book is 7 1/8" tall and 11" wide.
  21. The first issue was inked with Micron pens and was a little rougher, agreed. The second issue was done with Microns and nibs and was cleaner. The third issue looks the best and is all nibs. After all 3 books were complete, the covers were drawn, hence why the covers look better. We have not seen the additional printing yet, so I'm not sure. As of today, the only copies of #2 out there are from the initial printing.
  22. We can clarify this perfectly for anyone who wants to know. There was an original print run of 1500 copies done last April. Of those, 300 were sent to retailers as an advance review copies. 400 were sent to us to send off to family, friends, neighbors, and to be brought to shows. We brought and sold these copies at the Boston and Baltimore Conventions. The remaining 800 copies were destroyed in late July due to a fire at the printer, the same week we got orders from Diamond of ~1350 issues. Since we had no copies left in stock we had to do a reprint and we took the opportunity to fix a few things off with the first printing - namely the margins and the final page of the book, which now displays a B&W version of the cover. We also removed page numbers. The "Fire Printing" was for ~1700-1800 copies. That fulfilled all of Diamond's orders and left us with copies to fulfill orders through the website and upcoming conventions. The Second Issue was printed twice - 1000 copies each time - both with the identical files, so in theory there should be no difference. 400 copies were sent off to retailers for review copies but arrived after the order deadline. Hopefully that adds some clarity:)
