That's a complete coincidence.

For anyone interested in a fun site to review covers and a knowledgable discussion on books in general, this site has been a fun follow for a long time. Warning: large amounts of time can be spent on this site since they've been maintaining this blog for 15 years.

I surely doubt Jimbo minds extra eyes on his sales thread (I know there are some good books left).
There are a lot of good books left in this thread. James has very good taste.

That copy of The Mighty Blockhead was the first vintage paperback I ever purchased around 35 years ago. I was so excited about purchasing this book from the 40s (even in 1989!). Ten years later, I discovered that it originally had a dust jacket which my copy was missing. Always meant to grab a copy with the jacket but still haven't gotten around to it. Fun to see it again.
FYI, Frank Gruber is always an easy read and that's a fun little story inside.

Any of the vintage paperback sellers here have a Croydon edition of Vicious Circle by Manning Long available? If so, PM me.
Still looking for one of those myself, Ryan. That's gotta be the toughest of those early L.B. Cole Croydons. Still kicking myself for not going strong the last time I saw a copy come up.

FYI, this sweet cover art is by Robert Stanley, who did all those great Dell Mapback covers. My buddy Brian Emrich owns the original art
That's an awesome cover! I was close to calling it as Stanley but you know my track record with attributions...

I'm going to do a very short term 20% off on what's left in this thread (most of these were at what I paid before the discount).

Comics, Pulps, and Paperbacks: Why such a discrepancy in values?

I agree, it doesn't look like George Gross to me. I have quite a bit of his covers and, while there are elements that are reminiscent of his work (as you alluded), the brush work and shading looks wrong to me. Then again, I could be wrong. Even with my original art for Wanton by Night, which is attributed to Gross (but not signed), I'm not 100% convinced is his work. (Posted before but I don't mind an excuse to post it again).
