  1. Completely agree on both fronts. Tom Palmer is damn near everyone's best inker, but the more I look at Alcala, on certain artists, it just looks epic and borderline historic. He just brought a new layer of complexity and detail to guys like JB and also Don Newton (im loving these batman pieces the AZ guy is selling and won a few). Ive seen some art also I think was inked by Sal as well I thought looked really good too.
  2. Saw the movie, it was good. It was about 20 minutes to long and the dialogue got a little wooden giving some parts a bit of a boring feel. Also some parts were a little heavy cheesy like "ultra-rhino" and riding in the car seat with no car. Overall i'd put this in the middle of the pack. The batting order for me is... 1. Captain America 3 2. Guardians of the Galaxy 1 3. Captain America 2 4. Avengers 1 5. Thor 3 6. Dr. Strange 7. Iron Man 1 8. Ant-man 1 9. Iron Man 3 10. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 11. Spider-man 1 12. Captain America 1 13. Black Panther 14. Thor 1 15. Avengers 2 16. Thor 2 17. The Incredible Hulk 18. Iron Man 2
  3. Man that kieth is nice...wow...
  4. When you think its always going to be available, even if the price is reasonable, you don't feel the urgency to act. Once it's at auction, you know you have to act if you want it. I see it often on lower end items. Either I have it for sale on my CAF, or someone else does, and once it goes to auction, it goes for more than the previous for sale price. Malvin Ive experienced the same.
  5. if you can press out some of the wrinkles, since it appears to still be on the staples too, 4.0.
  6. With all the talk about impending market correction on comic art, something really occurred to me maybe in fact we are thinking about this bass-ackwards. Unlike fine art, where new entries are being made and accepted into the fold all the time, classic period marvel and DC art is special and limited, cover art especially. Cover art made before 1995 , with its physical stats and editors marks, is something special. The price point for these pieces of pop art even at its highest level, is just a tiny fraction of what "fine art" would sell for. Yet any individual pieces ability to influence other artists and collectors/fans is often times 100 fold greater than a comparable fine art piece. If you strip away the notion that "its just funny book drawings" and really appreciate it as a piece of narrative illustration art with significant cultural and historic importance...comic art of the era might actually be a steal. Anyway, just another way to look at it.
  7. So in the last week we have seen a few AF 15 CGC sales of note on HA. 1. 2.5 OW with chipping = 13.1k 2. 3.5 CR/OW no Chips = 20.3k 3. 4.5 OW with Chipping = 26.3k 4. 5.0 OW/W UK no chipping = 28.7k 5. 5.5 OW no chipping = 45.4k 6. 6.0 OW/W no chipping = 59.2k Seems like consistent pricing. Maybe a little cheap on the 5.5 but overall I think prices make sense compared to previous sales. The 5.5 might have been cheap due to a horrible dust shadow on the back, but overall the front was pretty clean and the PQ was average for the grade.
  8. An "I sold it" out of arizona has been sellinga ton of Don Newton Batman pages. This most recent lot has had Talia on many of them. You seen those?
  9. ah, ok...i was gonna say I can see a single cover being over 1000 so getting 760 for one seemed reasonable. Now that i see its 760 for a pair of older DC hero covers by a good artist, I think the the ebay ones were steals and the Heritage one just went for full market.
  10. You know if you think about it thats not really that big of a price increase when compared to other covers. Seems about right to me.
  11. Does that mean that damage to a book may or may not count against the grade depending on the origin of the damage? if the damage occurs from a poor cut on day one or from a little kid pulling little tabs out of the edge, should it really matter? Shouldn't just the end state of the book be the only issue, regardless of the how and if there was some sort of neglect/intent to do damage?
  12. it should be 4.0. How can a book be anything but "average" if huge chunks of it have just fallen off from wear?
  13. Went 0-everything this day. Im still surprised at the Sandman page. I pegged it at 4k with BP and bid accordingly, still came up a few hundred short. Sellers won round one going away.
  14. never in a million years would i think to see see this, xmen panel page still going still going at 70k
  15. Could also be some people have higher price evaluations than others.
  16. The actual first panel appears of BW is pretty cool. Plus it has good Iron Man and Dynamo shots too. This is definitely a 5 figure page, 45k probably too high but I can see someone dropping 30k.
  17. Looking like it, i just tried one more bid now , no dice. I just dont think I can hang on this piece. Oh well...
  18. put in some tracking bids on comics and art. there is a piece i will either buy or make someone pay 2x market for...well its day one and its at normal market so i guess im not the only guy who see's it. Oh well.
  19. Could happen any time, to a quick or slow degree based on a clues we cant predict nor patterns we havent seen...maybe...yay...
  20. Waiting 20 years for this "just around the corner" price drop. I would be THRILLED if we had a "catastrophic" price drop so i could actually buy and afford to keep some of the items on my list. It just keeps being on the horizon, never quite getting there. Heck I cant even get a nice little price correction of 10-20 percent.
  21. I think these side films will be the real gold in Disney's SW basket. Rogue One was great, a real Star Wars movie. If Solo is as good as it looks it could start a real trend.
  22. I maybe on average one item a year from Heritage. I find there's lots of items I like, but few I find I have to have. My issue is that I'm a combination of not rich and very cheap, which can sometimes be challenging when it comes to HA and CL auctions. That being said i feel the urge to competitively bid on one page and one cover. I think the page is going to go unnoticed and the cover will be sort of an afterthought for most big fish. I feel good about winning the former and very iffy on the latter.
