  1. You can read my little ramblings if you want on CAF. But sufficiet to say i acquired one of my favorite pieces of comic book art ever made. Ive coveted this art for over 30 years. Now its mine. Im happy, im very happy. Its been so long since i acquired a piece that actually moved me this way...anyway, enough prattle. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1477226&GSub=145535 Daredevil issue 249 , Leonardi and Williamson
  2. exactly. Good movie, better liked by fans, but cut down by the absolute rejection fans have for Kennedy's goofy forced plot narrative's and poor executive leadership.
  3. I just wish I was in the room when someone first piped up and said, "You know what we need for this movie? Some flying Space Leia." I'd really like to know how that guy wasn't immediately fired. https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/films/968916/Star-Wars-Solo-FLOP-fan-BOYCOTT-Will-Disney-FIRE-Kathleen-Kennedy-Last-Jedi-box-office
  4. Honestly who didn't see this coming? Granted this is a bad time to release movies (memorial day weekend has had more misses than hits)...but I think we are seeing the hang-over effect of "The Last Jedi". This is exactly what I and other predicted would happen. TLJ left such a foul taste in so many peoples mouths, it has effectively gutted the Star Wars franchise. Its no long something special you cant miss. That movie turned so many stomachs and set fire to the love for the franchise so many millions had, its not a shock their next big outing is feeling the sting. It makes people less excited and in love with "Star Wars". I mean, this was actually a good movie but the after effects of that bomb Johnson/KK left on the fans doorstep has just turned so many off its gonna hard to see how this and future SW films recover. Kennedy said "We don't need you dying old dinosaur fans, i want something new that speaks to my personal views and feelings"....so the old established fans said "I hear you, sorry for giving you my money. Ill avoid your future product." Well Disney, huzzah here you go. Got what you wanted.
  5. It is to me also. something off with the link. this one seems to work https://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Fantasy-15-CGC-8-0-UNRESTORED-1st-Appearance-of-Spider-Man-300K-VALUE/282980500458?hash=item41e2f3c3ea:g:8JUAAOSwB-Na-fo-
  6. I was gunning for the Mignola Fanfare pages. I thought for sure id win them under their final prices. To bad, so sad.
  7. bah, outbid across the board. Time for some bravado bids....yay....
  8. I think McSpidey should end around 98-105k. Miller at 60-65k
  9. 1.5 sold on CL for 10,500. Lot of brown tape on cover hurt it, but still someone got a good price. Pages were decent quality too....having said that its still shocking that a taped up 1.5 sells for over 10k but its the new market. I imagine without the tape it woulda been like 11,500-12k. http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FCGCALLSUB.ASP%3FFocused%3D1%26Graded%3DCGC%26id%3D4552%26FROM%3D%26TO%3D%23Item_1251292&id=1251292&itemType=0
  10. 1.5, a copy is still a copy. Might do well to press it also.
  11. 5.5 Off white, have you checked the top edge for trimming though?
  12. The issue will be is the spine totally split and being held together by tape, or maybe its off the staples. I think that might have turned some folks off.
  13. Haha secret grail page is up, first time in a year in any auction one of them is up. Oh boy, I get to either overpay grossly or punish someone to retail +...usually just the latter.
  14. Hello all. Was hoping to put some detective skills to work here and see if someone knows either what publication or at least who the artist is who painted this? It’s about 3 feet by 5 feet on board. No identification marks other than the edges have a lot of accurate measurements indicating size the piece must be (guidelines like you would see on comic art marvel or dc pages). It would be from the 40s or 50s most likely. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Tom Palmer by a million percent (IMHO). I don't know about the hobby as a rule though. Isnt Tom Palmer the default setting for "Best inker to have" for everyone in his era?
  16. Sometimes like on a good sandman page dialogue makes the page much more desirable. Beyond the fact that Gaimans writing is likely the most refined and personal ever seen in comics, if you have a Morpheus page you sure as heck want to see that black cloud dialogue bubble.
  17. I don't get how Ragnarok is a great movie. It was basically a Guardians of the Galaxy clone tonally and a very poor one at that. The jokes were forced and not nearly as funny as GotG. Korg got way too much screen time because its the director (and I legit hope he died in IW). Bottom 5 Marvel for me. I literally left the theater thinking "please Marvel, no more Thor movies." Winter Soldier and GotG are for sure top 5 films (along with Civil War). Ragnarok was great because it took the traditional and played with it in a way GoTG cant. GoTG from out of the gate established its brand with Star Lord dancing on his way to the stone, so all 3 times we have seen them its been the same story line/techniques and devices. I LOVE GoTG don't get me wrong, but its an established path. Ragnarok took the established and turned it on its ear. It gave us an actually humor first story-line and character set. It was going above the genre and taking it apart. It was closer to Deadpool than GoTG. The Master was amazing, the humor was unforced and slightly insane. It gave you unexpected responses to normal comic book situations. From Thor begging Stan after the bravado to not cut his hair, to the shocking him when he goes into epic hero mode. Nothing was sacred, nothing was off limits, and nothing followed the standard formula. Man they started off by just running the warriors 3 through with swords without warning...they closed on absurdity. And between all that humor that perfect timing of music and theme drove the action. Cutting to Immigrant song also in fights just were perfect. The entire 70's comic vibe of graphics and soundtrack was intentionally and lovingly created by people who truly understood the era's aesthetics and "The Kirby Look". Anyway, I liked it a lot for multiple reasons. Additionally, the Kirby-esque guards of The Master were just breathtaking and geeky perfect.
  18. Honestly I thought IW was middle of the road, same for Black Panther. I enjoyed them both, but it blows my mind how much each has made. I think if you look at the top 5 MCU grosses, only the bottom of that list (Civil War) in my opinion is in the upper 3rd marvel movies content/execution wise. Great movies like Ragnarok, Winter Soldier, and GOTG are like 8, 10, and 12 on the list money wise.
  19. Sorry my bad restored. But same concept. If paper loss is paper loss regardless of if coming from a bad cut or normal hand wear (which is what you say they keeping in mind while grading) Than you seem to be saying "cause doesn't matter". It's all about the paper loss only. They aren't going light on MC because of the 'why' they are treating it like normal wear and grading the same as if it was normal wear/tears. I don't think they are. CGC have clearly established (to me anyway) cause does matter, hence why trimming a book doesn't just count as paper lost but as a unique set of circumstances that causes this version of paper loss to get a wholly worse/less desirable grade (restored). If paper is lost due to post production cutting, its given a much less desirable grade (restored). If paper is lost due to post production wear, its given a standard more desirable grade in line with normal wear. If paper is lost due to pre-production flaws, its treated as a bindery defect and from my experience is partially forgiven/written off in the final desirable grade. Its not just a formula of what percentage is missing from what ive seen, but of how that paper loss occurred.
