You’ve had high quality responses but still have questions. This is an art, not a science. You want black and white in a world filled with grey

I agree that I have had high quality responses and that this an art and not a science, but correct me if I am wrong, but there should be a rough reasonable estimate of what a centerfold should retail for. If you were to go out and buy one today, what would you pay and expect it to be selling for?

If I had a Superman 1 2.0 missing centerfold it would be worth twice as much to me as it would be if I only wanted to buy a centerfold.

I have a Marvel comics 1 coverless missing last page and bid 1k and lost 15 years ago and have never seen another for sale.

10k is a reasonable deal if you wanted the centerfold only. I would pay more if I wanted it for a complete book common sense thing here.

I would say find another centerfold besides the one from Blizzard and post it here :wishluck:.

What is a reasonable amount of time for you to find one?.

Time is money what is your time worth to find one.

Are you saying it is for sale for $10k or that is what a centerfold goes for? The link provided says $25k?

My question is what is a reasonable price for a Superman 1 centerfold? Anyone can ask for any price, doesn’t mean that is what it truly worth.

You post says what is a reasonable price.

    I replied 10k is a reasonable price.

There is a Make offer on that link.

Both the foot and the 10cent thing don't seem very reliable. I think it's easiest to tell by the overall canary yellow brightness of the cover, but if you want an easy thing to look at, check out the white streaks of the block letters in the logo "Superman" - specifically the "uper" part.  On the reprint, they are very wide, long white streaks, on the original they are much thinner and don't go all the way to the end.

hm This goes to the end. I do see the original on the U-P- E in superman they have 3 white lines the reprint has 1 big white line.^^

Issue #28 is another very tough book, with only 8 Universal copies in the census.  It has a great cover depicting armed pirates taking over a vessel.  The captain’s distressed look is understandable, given that his undersized billy club is likely to prove ineffective against his assailants’ swords and guns.  If you look closely, you can see Flessel’s signature subtly hidden along the ropes.

This non-pedigree CGC 9.0 copy tops the census.  No one has seen a Church copy.

    8.0 ^^

  5. From a Facebook post nice ECs

In 1950, Bill Gaines (left) joined with Al Feldstein (right) as managing editor of EC Comics, and the two helped produce some of the best comic books ever printed. Previously the letters "EC" had stood for "Educational Comics", but from then on, the letters would stand for "Entertaining Comics", which they certainly were. The new line of comics would include horror, science fiction, crime, war, humor, and would make Gaines and Feldstein famous, if not infamous. Here, they're seen posing with their new line, all of which should grade "10

Dont disagree, but due to Caps lucky birth into the Timely/Marvel world, he’s got better friends that resonate more with the youngsters. Spider-man, anyone? Heck, even Daredevil and Iron Man too. That alone will maintain some parity for our beleaguered Cap

Glad you sold your Batman 1 when you did going to take a bit before that book gets that price again.

If memory serves me right, I think you have a Cap 1 hm

This ad appeared before the book was on the stands, but it was not necessarily printed before the cover itself had been printed.  House ads were not always created with a stat of the actual, final cover, very many of them show differences between the ad and the published cover, especially in the logos and blurbs.  Sometimes the differences are huge: a house ad prior to Captain America #1 release shows him without wings on his head.  And a house ad for an early Timely comic had Stalin partnered with Hitler, while the published book removed Uncle Joe because in the small window between ad and publication, Russia had become our ally.  There may have been copies printed with the original cover, but destroyed.

And this ad for Batman 1 has the number and date in blue, whereas in all published copies (dot or no dot) the number and date were clearly part of the red plate.  So it's definitely not a version of the cover that was published.

well Detective 1 add looked like this at first.  December 1936 From More fun 16 But Detective 1 has a different date.

I thought there were a LOT of strong prices.  But there were a few deals to be had, and I'm glad I got one.

I sold Ian my Detective comics 3 for 11k in 2004 and I was going to bid but had to finish a break job just got home and it sold for 6k O.o

I just got in touch with Ian, earlier and he said they all went for far less than he paid.
