ASM 194 has been bouncing between mid-$2k and mid-$3k for all of 2023.    The Heritage sale at $3k last night was a near perfect wrap vs those two Ebay examples which probably drove it up a bit.    And looking back to sales are recently as August, $3k doesn't seem that out of line.     Also interesting that the Sept sale of $2400 doesn't show up in GPA...wonder what happened.

some ultra rare DC books which he knows are very very rare based upon his vast experience bring together the collection

I remember Ian talking about books that were delaying completion, weird odds and sods, like Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Annual #2.   I think all the usual suspects will be sucked up.  The real gems are in Ian's experiences putting the collection together (thumbsu

As I said in the writer’s strike thread, just because something can be done cheaper and easier doesn’t mean it should.

Extras in movies/tv are some of the most “interesting” people I have ever met. Take that how you will. They do serve a function though. They create realism and an atmosphere. If you replace them with AI figures then the talent is essentially doing an entire movie in green screen. Sure, that’s fine for certain types of movies but I think it would really change the performance in others. Some will balk at doing it.

There will be ramifications yet to be seen or imagined.   The impact of AI will be across the board in the movie business/(defacto comic worlds) for years to come.   But I see it as static edition, it can "create", but I think that should be replaced with replicate.

Lately we've seen a backward trend on the quality of movies brought to the market.   There's a lot of reasons for that.   Will AI be the sole vector that changes that trend?   My take is a firm no.

Seeing Momoa do an over the top character in Fast X, I think he could pull off the main man.

He's at least got the eyebrow dexterity already to pull off a good Lobo sh-iteat-ing grin (thumbsu

I've watched it again a little while ago, and came away with a much better opinion of the movie.   It was a really good Ant-man movie.

Was it what I was expecting the first time, no not at all.   But once all of my expectations, and anticipation around this being an MCU event movie had evaporated, I actually enjoyed for what it was, and the characters, and design features throughout.

My advice to the nay sayers.  Let go, and enjoy the ride.

i was watching the second episode and was like, did i miss something?

the plot is too confusing and not important for me to care about

i'll watch to see where it leads but i am not impressed

I had that sensation, when they were interrogating Brad Wolf, what was their motivation for all of this running around??   Things had definitely got muddled.

    Not a good sign.

So here’s a book that has been strangely elusive for me in grade. You can buy copies of it all day long in lower grades but try going above fine and it turns into vapor. Maybe there’s a million high grade raws out there but only 5 graded copies when I looked and only 2 above this copy. It’s a key Millie book where the format changed from the previous hip soap opera romance title to the new look Millie which was in the Archie mold to compete with their highly successful line. You’d get a Chili title and another Millie title 2 years later both in the Archie type form as Marvel tried competing in the popular kids comics line of comics of the day.

Anyway this copy was cheaper than I expected at auction and has white pages so thrilled to get a decent looking grade on a toughie.

I'm getting Margot Robbie vibes.   #notafanboy

  8. It's interesting, the two biggest trends that I've seen over the last few years in tv/movies.

The talent, or main actor is now listed as an Executive Producer.   Acknowledging that the show, or movie isn't really a valid enterprise unless the main talent is onboard.   It's like having a restaurant with the chef as business partner.   They've fully vested in the success of the project, and walking out on the venture, they're walking out on themselves.

The second trend is across tv/movies/music, where writing/producing has become about a team of people, instead of individuals, or partner writers.   The latter is still around, but the rise of the teams has been pronounced.   Individual talent as writer/creater's seems to have waned.   And that waning influence as a writer, has translated in devaluation in the Hollywood machinery.

As for the future, and this immediate shedding of writers, it seems counter-intuitive to the studio's content model's they're currently running with.   The platforms are battling it out to produce more and more content.   Reducing writer numbers seems antithetical towards this goal.

Some info is better than no info, so I'm not knocking the vid.  Just trying put the referenced vid in perspective. Isn't that Swag "comic book index" video above supposed to track the most recent GPA sale of the top 100 SOLD (by volume) books in each of the SA, BA and CA?  It's a bit silly that the video does not identify the 100 books relied upon for the graphs, but we can figure out what's NOT included.  Unless I am misinterpeting his model, his data cannot possibly track most, if any, of what collectors/dealers/buyers tradionally consider the top 50 or top 100 books in the SA.

Tha was a big issue with the video.   We all know of books that continuing in their upward price trajectory from 2021, and 2022.   There are plenty of books that have cooled off doe certain, the his graphs are only a limited piece of the overall story out there right now.

With so little members of both Disney (18 total) and Marvel (approx 50) having voted / being unionizied ,what are the odds Disney pulls a Walmart* and closes shop and moves the jobs offsite / out of the country?

That is concerning.   The end credits for the typical MCU movie is literally 15minutes longer, as they plough through the long list of VFX studio's responsible for the pixelated minestrone soup we just watched.

I'm not sure as I saw a reaction to a post that was then changed, but I think one of the people that asked the going rate or what would you'd pay @Parabellum was the owner of the 9.8 2nd print...

He was asking due to seeing the buzz, which is all good if reasonable and not gouging. I just mention to further inquire about who it is you'd be talking to in a transaction. I'd maybe wait for further confirmation, and who knows? Maybe just being optimistic with a 1 of 1 to check the market, nothing wrong with that

I think you're right.  And agreed, nothing wrong with getting some feed back.  His book he can do anything he likes with it.

If you want a sale in a quiet market, the best route would be to enter it a Ccmiclink auction.  The fee's are way less than ebay, thats for sure.
