  1. Adjusting settings to accurately represent the book in hand is a good thing. Manipulating settings to increase a book’s appeal is deceptive. When the whites wash out the surrounding area, it’s a clumsy use of settings to improve presentation.
  2. I love it that Sheena wouldn’t dare be seen in the jungle without freshly shaved legs or full makeup.
  3. The discussion makes me wonder: what's the valuation for Batman as an intellectual property? It must be enormous. Would it surpass Superman in value? Batman has much greater cultural cache at this point. Sorry for the wayward question, OP. Interesting find. Would be a fun read if nothing else.
  4. Ebay sellers need to ship quickly to meet estimated delivery dates.
  5. Sellers who post scans made with the brightness and contrast cranked up, and the whites whitened, just disincline me to buy from them. I mean, it's obvious to other people when the scans are being manipulated, right?

  7. Sniping is an above-board way for a buyer to achieve a preferred price. Shilling is a below-board way for a seller to achieve a preferred price. How is that a moral equivalent?
  8. Price reductions! Sports Thrills, $100 Cole $45 Young King Cole $40
  9. That's it for now. Thanks for looking. And to you buyers, thanks for helping me fund my chronic overspending on comics!
  10. This one counts, right? Right? I mean, it's got Cole in the title. Young King Cole vol. 2, #7, 6.0, Crippen D, $50.00 NOW $40 Certificate included I bought this as a 7.0 from the Ritters. The front is nice as you can see, but the back is not so nice. I think there grades are, how would you say, aspirational at times. So I've downgraded this and knocked the price down a good bit from what I paid.
  11. Crime Fighting Detective #13, 4.5, $55.00 SOLD! I dig his active police covers. Even here, really interesting composition with the plane and cop bullets in one direction, waves criss-crossing to get that triangle in essentially every classically composed piece of visual art, and then the clouds to break it up.
  12. Cole #10, 4.5, $55 NOW $45 Here, I dig the horizontal lines, some moving left and some moving right. It's not a washtone, as I guess that technique didn't exist yet, but it's got a cool washtone-like look to it. 4
  13. Sports Thrills #14, F/VF, $115 NOW $100 Nice colors as you can see. As usual, really nice composition. Look at the angled lines all running in parallel. And I like how he did the audience in the stands.
  14. How I accept payment PayPal preferred. I'll accept checks or money orders in most cases. Payment is expected within 7 calendar days. If you need longer than that, you shouldn't be buying these relatively low-cost items--this is not an inventory that begs for time payments. My referrals Please see my forum kudos or ebay ID. How I handle returns I accept returns if you're dissatisfied for whatever reason. If the comics arrive damaged, I pay return shipping. If you just don't like them or have buyer's remorse, you pay return shipping. How I package and ship I take care to package your comics in the same manner that I want to receive them: well and with care. Typically, I use gemini mailers and a cardboard sandwich inside. Otherwise, I'll move up to USPS Priority boxes. One or two comics, I can ship First Class and save you some money. More than that, we need to use Priority Mail. I won't use Media Mail; please don't request it. Shipping is at cost: you provide an address, I weigh the package, you pay that price. Who can buy Boardies not in the Hall of Shame or Probation List can buy. There are a small number of people outside those lists who I wouldn't sell to, but they won't show up. They know who they are. What's being listed A small number of LB Cole covers for people who don't want to spend a fortune on their LB Cole comics.
  15. I let my bids lapse. I've spent enough already and have a few things in the works.
  16. I wonder if there's just a miscommunication here. Caveat emptor is certainly true in this market. Smart buyers are looking out for themselves. But scrupulous, competent sellers should disclose any known restoration.
  17. This happened to me at the store I complained about. I looked at a book, handed it back, said it looked like color touch. The guy said nothing, humphed a little, put it back on display. Compare that to Heroes in SC where I pointed out what looked like at least one replaced staple and they removed it from display to inspect and reprice it.
