  1. The best thing about this thread is the title and "buyer angry". Read that thread title to yourself in a Hulk voice, and you will thank yourself.
  2. Definitely. Very sharp looking 3.5. I have one in the same grade and this one looks noticeably better than mine.
  3. I would do CLink if I didn’t want to fool with them. Nice to offload all that labor.
  4. Time for this community to do what it does best: Thinking for other people! No need to have more than cursory knowledge of the situation. No need to have anything akin to situational insight or intimacy with a case. Just grab a few scraps of information and weave together a tapestry of woulda coulda shoulda's!
  5. I chanced across these online and have really enjoyed the art and articles inside. These early copper age publications include unique art from popular artists that you won't find anywhere else. In depth articles and extensive reviews of comics make these a compelling read for serious copper age collectors. I really want to offer these here so another boardie can enjoy them before I sling them on the bay. $19.95 Grades and info: Chronicles Annual 1, 9.2, Kaluta cover X-Men Chronicles 1, 8.0,Cockrum cover Fantastic Four Chronicles, nn., 9.0 Daredevil Chronicles, nn., 9.0 History of the Avengers Chronicles, nn., 8.0 History of Spider-Man, nn, 9.2 Click the images for larger pictures.

  7. Closed! Thanks to everyone who looked or made a purchase.
  8. Collecting can give way to compulsion. I mean, wow, we've all seen images of the incredible mass of books, toys, trade paperbacks, comics, ephemera, and so on that some people amass.
  9. People talk about comics like they're liquid assets. They are illiquid.
  10. Our Fighting Forces #1 • 3.5 • $300 shipped priority with signature. Here's something you don't see available very often. Creasing on cover. Long crease from bottom left corner angling up to Nazi's top hand. It's crossed by a visible crease, making an X at the bottom. Hard to see in the scan, but there's a vertical crease running from the tank, along the outer edge of what looks like a license plate, down into the sky background. Creasing lower right corner. Reader's creases on spine as visible. Color rub visible on DC imprint and the "F" in "Fighting". Penciled "B 8-17" below the "G" in "Fighting". Discoloration on back cover, upper right is staining; there's a tide mark in that same area, outlining a larger area by maybe a 1/2" area. A 1/4" horizontal tear on the back at the spine, just below middle. Some light creasing on back cover. Staples attached and mostly secure but see centerfold pic where, hopefully, you'll spot a tear at the bottom of the bottom staple. CLICK TO ENLARGE
  11. Teen Titans #1 • 4.5 • $90 NOW $75 shipped first class. SOLD!!! Purchase from Stephen and Sharon Ritter at wwcomics. I don't always agree with his grades, but often I do, as in this case. This copy has definitely been handled and read quite a bit. Check the vertical creasing that is prominent in the bird's spine-side wing. And what kid wouldn't read it? Look at that bangin' cover from Nick Cardy. Notice the pen writing at the bottom of the masthead next to the "T" in "Titans". Both the bottom and top staples are secure and attached, but with stress lines. Ritter presses a lot of his books, and this one looks pressed to me. On the back cover, notice the 3/16" tear pointing left-to-right at the yellow race track box. These grotesque chimera figures menace the Titans, but don't count our young heroes out!
  12. SOLD! Doctor Strange 169, 6.0, $100 • I'm firm on this price right now as I think it's a good price for a nice looking mid-grade copy of this popular comic. As you can see this comic presents very nicely with strong colors inside and out. I wanted to grade it at 6.5 but you can see the piece out on the back cover and the page below it. Corner crease, front top left and front bottom right. Soft corner bend front bottom left. A hard pinch in the corner box, about 3/4" above the M in MARVEL, on Doc's cape. Some spine wear. Staples secure and well attached.
  13. I have been listing a lot of things on eBay, and between work being busy and getting a fairly steady drip of eBay sales, the comic room had gone to pieces. I finally organized things a great deal, and what you see here represents clearing off a guest bed, cleaning out the closet, and organizing all my shipping supplies.
  14. Out of fairness, their votes don't imply that this doesn't bother them. Myself, I'm just not submitting anything right now. I wanted to, too, but this is extremely discouraging. The ripple effect of this is that the business which would press and submit on my behalf doesn't get my business right now.
  15. I steered clear of making any purchases and was happy to get a sale for a listing just over $100.00. I will have to try this more often.
  16. Try your eBay searches at fatfingers.com.
  17. Someone I trust told me, PGX is okay in grading, but garbage for resto detection, and apparently counting pages. I was stupid enough to learn my lesson twice, getting burned on PGX books, one of them a DD 1. I won’t even pick up a PGX slab now. I’ll never buy one again.
  18. At one point, I wanted to collect ASM, but now Is am building SSM. Lots of great covers, includes the years I was actually into comics as a kid, and has some great stories along the way. And it will never break my budget. The rising prices have turned me off some keys. I just don’t care about Hulk 181 at this point for example. I’m looking especially for DC war and horror, a lot of which is still reasonable, and a selection of GA books. I’m paying off an LB Cole cover, but it’s not one of the super sought after issues that costs more than I should spend. I started back in the hobby maybe six years ago, so I still lack the experience a lot of folks here have but prices are definitely cray cray on so much. It’s discouraging at times.
